very good point extremo. and since this is the in the alpha, i would like to see the knife be put as a standard melee weapon...since in real life most people would use a knife in a life or death situation... and as you said, this is a survival game where we make the story..so why do we end up on a beach each time we respawn..why not in a house? and how come your person automatically knows how to shoot a gun...does everyone in the world have perfect aim with every gun they pick up? i thought we were just civilians, not soldiers....

well if you wanna go by that context then there are way to many flaws with that. I just happened to end up with a backpack filled with these randomed things but no gun or knife? for some reason i have bandages and a flashlight.. but no pocket knife of any kind...that really makes sense :/ what person in their right mind goes "you know what, i think i might just need some bandages for some unknown reason...but screw a knife which is one of the most vital things someone always carrys in a backpack, or even on them." and also, wanna talk about this game being realistic? who can run for two hours straight with 40lbs on your back and not stop. or who would even try to not defend themselves?

that sounds about right disorder...just wondering if bent cans/aluminum cans have any use? wish there was more people like you on here

the only problem i have with this is people started with guns and more supplies before, and now we start with nothing; so the hoarders hoard, and the newbs stay newbs. So we new comers continue to get killed by anything and anyone wanting what little we have before we even get it.

i dunno where i woulda got that idea....maybe the fact that when you open your inventory it says your a private first class and you have all soldiers clothing. and the fact that those arnt civilian clothings really...just because your guy has a hat shirt and pants makes him a civilian?

lol...only one person on here helped me. and i already thanked him. I already figured out how to evade them, and no, you cant just "literally bump into zombies" cause they will attack you, this has happened to me while i was in prone and i didnt see one behind me.

i'd have to agree with some of the OP...so far two days and all i've done is run around getting killed by people for the loot that i've found, which is no weapons with ammo, or a ton of ammo but no weapons to use them. I dont get why a surviver starts with just a flashlight and a gun holder, and theres ppl that have been playing this game since its started and have all the guns and just kill you to take your bandages cause you have a flashlight and nothing else...or maybe an axe, or an empty hand gun. In all seriousness would you just run for hours from one zombie, or would you turn and try to kick it over or something and defend yourself? and wouldnt the guy you start as have a knife or something; being a solder and all?

how do you make a group in this game? i've been trying to figure that out :/

ah, that helps. havnt tried the crouching. thanks for that tip, i had read that line of site and sound is their main triggers so thats what i'm planning around

no i was doing that at the first few trys till i watched a video of how to sneak and what the two indicators mean. Im asking is it possible to even outrun the "zeds" if the pick up on you, as i just played two more times and each try of sneaking with no noise and i got spotted so I ran for about ten mins till i gave up as it seems you cannot outrun them

got my flashlight equipped, but how the heck do you turn it on...? or if you switch it to your toolbelt is there a way to switch it on and off?

if you press . before you press / when you go to chat you can switch which channel you want to type in..figured that part out for myself..not sure about the mic though as i havnt gotten one for my comp yet

i cant get dayz to run no matter what tut i follow..i've tried following everything :/ if you get your's figured out post it plx. I bought my copy of arma 2: combined operations off steam and i've got it fully patched with the the six launcher and no luck

that website dosent work for the betta patch. is there another way to get it? as i'm still getting this issue when i'm trying to log in to servers

lol piracy will be around forever, the true people that deserve the money never get it, and the people that dont do get it :/ thats why piracy is supported so strongly and no one cares to much to stop it except the fat cats making the money. I supported the people that made this game because it's actually very not a major title and its got a shit load of work put into it...but not the big companys. the retard that said "pirating is for ass-hats" or whatever the fuck then that person is just a fucking retard with to much money and no brains.
