I've been playing DayZ for over a year now (started playing maybe a few weeks after it was released to the ArmA community). Sadly, all of my friends who I used to play DayZ with got bored and resorted to hacks. Now they're globally banned. So, now I need a new group to play with. I prefer newer players, because I like teaching them about the game (and hearing what they think is true about the game, lol) I'm open to play with anyone, whether you're from the US or from Russia (anywhere), as long as you can speak English and don't have a squeaky voice. Because it's DayZ. Because I've been craving an open world zombie survival game for soooo long.

Alright, so, here's what happened. I just started playing on this server, and I ran into Elektro. Shortly after, in the fire station, a hero with a DMR runs up and shoots me. Fair enough. Spawn in Kamenka, kill myself. Respawn in Elektro. I tell my friend, who can hear more DMR shots, "I'm gonna look for the guy that killed me and kill him" I run in, and loot the fire station, finding my body. I then run to the hospital, and see stationary zombies standing around it. I assume there's someone on the roof. I climbed the ladder to check it out. Peeking over in third person, whaddaya know, it's the hero with the DMR that killed me. I wait for a couple seconds, and he turns around, aiming at something (probably another noob). He's off guard. Great. I climbed up fully and unloaded into his head. He dropped down. When I looted his corpse, well, you can guess so. Everything you can imagine. NVGs, Rangefinder, GPS, Toolbox, (basically full toolbelt), DMR w/ 4 mags, Coyote pack w/ AS50 inside w/ 4 NATO mags. Mountain dew & cooked meat. I studied the body, and found out that his name was "maxi" My friend came up onto the hospital roof as well. We both looted the body, and all of a sudden... You have been kicked by BattlEye: Admin Ban (Hacker) So basically, an admin with endgame (and most likely hacked) gear is running around in Elektro killing freshly spawned noobs, and when someone kills him, he bans them for hacking. All on his own server. If I were you, I would avoid this server.

What made me become a bandit? Other bandits shooting me all the time. Better safe then sorry.

Every time I join a server through DayZCommander or the ArmA 2 launcher, I either get stuck on Loading, or get all the way up to setup completed, then "Connection with host has been lost." It seems that I only get stuck on Loading on private hives, so I jumped over to public hive, and got the lost connection message. I restarted my internet and joined another public hive, with the same message. I am running version 99515, servers I joined were running 99515. I'm also using a non-steam version

So, a while ago, when I first got ArmA II, I got the Reinforcements edition (which came with Operation Arrowhead as a bonus.) I would then download ARMA II Free on Steam, and drag the required files to play DayZ (Chernarus map file and a couple more) into my Reinforcements folder. I recently got a new computer to run games better and had to do this all over again. However, ARMA II Free is not on Steam anymore? I searched it, and it wouldn't come up. Is there another way I can get these files, or am I just going to have to wait for standalone? (Which isn't far away...)

I was wondering, is it possible for me to set up a private hive server without renting it (or any way using money)? My friends and I wanted a server where we could just screw around on without dying.
