I need an idea of how well you can run DayZ I don't know how much to spend on a decent laptop.

Because a lot of people still play the mod and will continue to when the standalone comes out. Hell, I'll be playing both xD.

I have found ALL of my tents in grocery stores, try your luck there or find high value residential buildings (on dayz db map)

This is why I think dayz has so many hackers. Player: plays dayz, gets killed by someone or a hacker and gets angry. Player than looks for hacks to get revenge and its like a chain reaction. I don't know how to hack in any games but from what I know its super easy to do it in dayz. That is why so many do it.

Yes ^ Though apart from that and the physics, the ARMA 2 engine is great for DayZ, as it feels so damn realistic!

Getting a server with no hackers for some is a fluke while for some they just aren't so Lucky (I joined a 4 player server, had 1 hacker) So everyone's different and have different thoughts on hackers. Hopefully the hackers eventually gtfo and die down to make this mod a lot more enjoyable and legitimate.

I want to try out lingor and takistan maps but I'm wondering what will happen when I go back to my chernarus map. Will I still have the same gear or will I lose it.

Firstly what launcher are you using and do you have arma 2 combined ops on steam?

If you use the DayZ commander launcher, all you need to do is type his name and BAM, you can see what server he's playing on.
