    Yeah it runs perfectly fine once you get your settings down. I suggest that when you start the game, just run into a near by treeline and then mess with the settings until it's nice and smooth.     Using a controller

    I just plugged my controller in and mapped them manually in-game. Took me a while to do it but it was worth the effort in the end :) note - I just experimented with what I map where until I found something that worked for me :)

    I was stood in a tree line scouting a village below me, I was there for a good few minutes trying to plan my scavenging mission when I heard something move to my right. I turned to find another player sneaking up to my feet prone. He held a hatchet in his hand and I immediately pulled the trigger on him without hesitation. I heard him shout 'friendly' milliseconds before I killed him. I don't know why I had this reaction! I didn't even think. Now I am washed with guilt because I know how frustrating it can be when another player has killed you. Did you feel guilty about your first murder?

    I am worried that the standalone would be too inaccessible to players without super computers. I honestly think that if he makes the game too high end, it will drastically shift the amount of users.

    1+ on this You can't really notice low FPS unless you are consciously looking for it. Play the game with the best settings you can and eventually you will forget that it's running on a low FPS. This is because our brain is magical and can 'fill in the blanks' when it needs too.

    Ignore what I have said xD I just ran fraps alongside DayZ and it is saying anywhere between 15 - 25. I clearly don't know what I am talking about when it comes to PC games aha! It all looks the same to me

    Apparently the game relies on your hard drive speed heavily (I don't know the details). So using a software called RAMDisk you can make a small partition in your hard drive and make the game load DayZ from it. The partition you create would have a lot faster processing speed than your main drive. I used this video

    Well I have my DayZ files on RAMDisk and I have disabled Antialiasing, Postprocess effects and changed Shadow Detail to Normal. I am new to PC gaming so a game running perfectly might mean something completely different to me ah xD

    I am running Intel® Core i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53GHz 6GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 315M 512MB It runs at around 30FPS with tweaked normal settings. I was concerned about running the game before I purchased it too, so I downloaded the Arma II OA demo to double check :)

    Does the Six Launcher update the beta files as well as the mod? And how long does it take for servers to start updating? I only have 3 or 4 updated servers close to my area and they are all full.

    I like how everyone has elaborate plans involving acquiring guns and being ruthless survivors. We all know that if this was really going to happen, most of you will just sit in your room and be too scared to move. I know I would. I can't even imagine myself wanting to leave my house xD

    YAY! We could even make them run twice as fast and alert as adult zombies! Give the infected some diversity.

    I seem to do okay in Elektro :) For some reason it's the trees that make my FPS lower.

    You have an option to start a fire with only sticks (drilling or pushing a stick against another to cause friction) but the process takes a long time and only has a small chance to complete. I can't imagine that survivors would only rely on matches when the world comes to an end. I know I would give it a try.

    Thank you for your replies :) From what I gather from your responses, I did the right thing. If he wasn't up to no good, he would of said 'friendly' as soon as he saw me. I guess I'll head north so I am avoid any other interaction with other players :P

    The higher the number the more likely an Infected will aggro you. That's how I have been playing it :P

    My system will probably not run Arma III :( So I better enjoy DayZ while I have it. And I suspect I'll not be the only one.
