catch_22

So I recently started doing well for myself and actually having a great time playing this. I had every tool gathered, an AMK with 6 mags, a decent pistol and a bag full of food, water, and medical supplies. I figured it would be a rush to check out the NW Airfield. Bad Idea. I got there and found a Checz backpack. I was SO happy. I picked it up, and boom. My bag and all its contents disappear. I looked at the ground for a good 30 minutes. Nothing. So I figured screw it, I got a new backpack, I have all the tools, and a decent gun. As I'm running out I get clipped by a zombie and break a leg. No big deal, I have a ton of morphine. Wrong. I realized that all my food, water, and medicine was in my old backpack. Now I'm starving, dying of thirst, and have a broken leg. Can someone help me out? I like my set up and for once I really don't want to start over. It would be fine if It was due to me actually being an idiot and messing up, I wouldnt mind starting over. But the fact that I was actually finally doing well, then get completely ruined by a glitch is upsetting.

I had played successfully on the new patch for about two hours, logged out in the middle of the forest in a safe area far from any zeds or towns to eat dinner. Logged back on, same server, and I see the message "catch 22 has died", and it asked my to pick my gender. Instead of that, I panicked, exited, and picked another server. This time I was in the middle of a like... limbo-esque plains land with nothing in my inventory, but the same blood levels and food levels as my once alive character. There were also about 3-4 other players there. Now... I understand the whole "Dont get attached to your gear" montra... but that's the thing. I got the game two days ago and have been having a really difficult, unfun time. But I managed to find a pistol, kill a bandit player that tried to jump me with the 3 bullets I had, and got some decent gear. Found matches and a knife, ran into the woods and found a grocery store with bunch of food and soda to fill my alice pack and even a 1911 with 4 clips. I was FINALLY really really enjoying myself with this game... am I shit out of luck now? What happened? Can it be fixed?

Wait... so I'm invisible to other players? Oh, this is going to be fun.

It took a while to "create" my character, then I got in. I soon realized that my character was completely invisible in 3rd person. I have camo on, so I think thats the problem. I'm upset. I've had a lot of problems with this game. I understand it's alpha, but at this point I just want to play. I dont care about small issues like zombies glitching through walls, etc, I can deal with that. But when it takes 10 minutes to get into the game, then im invisible? Why even update until you know its stable. We're happy to wait.

I can't see my character AT ALL in 3rd person after this new update. Is this because I have Camo on? I lost my civilian clothes, so am I just SOL?

I've got like 12 hours deep into the game now. I've had my current character for about 8. I have a map, so I could easily get to you (easily but I'd have to walk). I'm having a lot of fun Lone Wolfing it, but I'm getting a bit bored. If anyone has interest in grouping up I'm down, none of my friends have the game yet and I'm tired of waiting. My steam name is "Catch 22". Send me an invite! I have a mic as well, I'd prefer to talk so were less likely to murder each other. Its easy to kill pixels if they don't have a voice

After playing like 4 hours straight, dying a bunch, I finally found a barn with a shotgun and a crossbow. I tried to pick the shotgun up, and dropped my hatchet. So I then picked the shotgun up, opened my "bag" and tried my absolute best to figure out what the hell the terrible inventory management screen was telling me. I clicked "Add to bag" or whatever, because that's where I wanted my shotgun to go. Well, wouldn't you ****ing know, the gun just completely disappeared. So I settled for the crossbow. And in the tangled madness of whatever the developers call an inventory screen, I managed to get the CROSSBOW to disappear too. What the hell did I do? They weren't on the ground. Just gone. I had finally started to have fun and I somehow managed to delete items. I JUST WANTED THEM IN MY BAG.

So I bought combined operations on steam so I could enjoy some DayZ after much anticipation. The thing is, my internet is really terrible and I wanted to play before work today, so I cancelled the installation of Arma 2, seeing as I had the free version and read you can use the free version. This is when it all goes downhill. After the 12 hours it took to install, Arrowhead wouldn't start, the error said an addon was missing from ARMA 2. Then I realized it wanted ARMA 2 installed on steam, so I moved the addon folder from the free version to ARMA 2 into the unfinished steam ARMA 2 folder, and hell yes, Operation Arrowhead would start. I played some single player, then quit to install DayZ. I used this guide: http://kodabar.blogspot.com/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html. Now, when I get to the install beta patch part, it gives me an error message saying "Invalid CD Key" and it doesn't install the beta patch. Am I screwed? Do I have to start ALL over and download ARMA 2? I'm going out of town tomorrow and I feel like exploding with anger. Nothing seems to work out when I try and do this stuff. All I want to do is play the damn game. Thanks for your help ahead of time. Im going to spend another hour trying to figure this out then just give up.
