Here are the Details on the Hero skin that everyone wants!

Having seen many threads inquiring after the Hero skin and its effects, I thought that this thread might prove useful. I am a Hero with over 30,000 Humanity on the public hive, and have done so legitimately all the way through. Here are some other important things to note about the Hero skin. After becoming a Hero, you gain 150 Humanity every 20 Minutes. This effect ends whenever you switch to a different skin, but resumes as soon as you switch back to Civilian Clothes, which defaults to your Hero skin So long as you continue to have A cumulative Humanity over or equal to 5000. EDIT- Powell has indicated that the gaining of Humanity every 20 minutes is a glitch, and will likely be fixed in the near future The bullet proof vest on the skin is functional, but only marginally so compared to Camo. It is entirely ineffective vs any round higher than 9mm in caliber, and the vest does NOT absorb all of the shot's damage. You do run faster than any other character as a Hero by default, but bear in mind that your equipment and inventory still impact your speed. Also, in my experience it appears that killing a Hero makes another player lose considerably more Humanity than killing a regular survivor. I believe the value is around -6000 Humanity but until the next hotfix I am not sure how to confirm this. If any other Heroes out there can attest to this or rebuke it, please say so as the info will be very helpful. EDIT - according to another player, when you kill a Hero you actually lose Humanity equal to the Hero's current Humanity... I am presently unable to confirm this, but if any of you can attest to this claim's validity it would mark a HUGE advantage to being a Hero. I hope this helps! If anyone is doubting the legitimacy of Cherno Journo's project, allow me to put you at ease. I was skeptical and expecting an ambush myself when I agreed to an interview, but Cherno Journo was not only swift to reach our rendezvous, he was empathetic to my safety and was very swift with his questions. The only time he ever pulled out a gun was to help fight of Zed coming into the meeting place, and he never pointed it in my direction. Good man with a good plan. Tell him your stories - you may be surprised. I had a good bit of fun.

suggestions from some of your truest friends and fans. no demands, no pressure... but I hope this list makes your mouth water :) I keep these points brief because there are many, but primarily because I want to give you basics. I know you have the talent and vision to bring them to life in fantastic ways if you decide to use them. COMRADES! If you like what you see, keep your beans and post instead! I only wish for Rocket and his team to have the opportunity to read what is below - nothing more! Not all of these ideas are perfect and many of them have been mentioned before Adrenaline - increased speed and strength in life threatening peril, with exhaustion following after Blood trails and pools bootprints and tracking ability to lock and barricade doors and windows ability to break locks with crowbar and barricades with that and ax ability to remove scopes and mods and jerry rig them to ALL kinds of weapons zombofication infection chance and a very very rare antigen. Find old frienda and put them to rest! graves amd headstones - ability to truly bury a corpse from this, the ability to really dig dragging living or dead bodies plus objects for barricades multichannel radios use of bare hands improvement to physical fitness over time and activity rope for all of its uses includong tying up players ability to make documentable missions ability to leap out windows ability to break specific bones swim underwater and chance to drown keep chance to lose items but givw us the ability to "tighten pack straps" to prevent loss; degrades based on speed and fast movement pitons and the power to climb planes (non military) trains to be armored or customized as invaluable bust risk mobile fortresses drugs - sedatives to incapacitate, cigarettes to stunt hunger ability to use regular objects like hunting knife, flashlight, chair etc in melee combat batteries and generators plus ability to engineer dismemberment and more realistic gore eyes partly adjusting to darkness chemistry and agriculture bullets do greater damage against living creatures, and less vs the undead (except headshots) making them the true menace they are setting wild fires ability to repair damaged structures zombies that can break through windows and barricades through strength of numbers addition of whistles, bells and birdcalls ability to dock boats and lock vehicles (can still break the windows to loot though) ability to verbally shout, giving direct comm much greater range but risking detection by zombies -
Nah... STALKER bandits had much more personality and charm. At least they could play the guitar sometimes ;p

I do not mean this in any offensive capacity, but games like DayZ that are made deliberately to be impressive, hardcore and pulse pounding cannot cater to many individuals with disabilities if they plan to retain what makes them so visceral and gripping. Working around such disabilities is not only spreading resources that are critical to the game's development thin, it is also difficult to do completely because it takes an acute understanding of HOW the disability manifests itself and in the instance of autism, it can change quite a bit from person to person. It would be much like trying to make an FPS for some that is epileptic, and trying to find the middle line -
S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and more importantly the iconic film that Andrei Tarkovsky made which inspired the games creation, are two of my most favorite pieces of media ever created. Whether the zombies or undead or infected, I think that it has boundless potential to frighten anyone who is human. George Romero's approach was timeless and classic. Imagine enterign a home, scavenging, when you see a person in the bathroom... an infected, staring at themselves in the mirror, clawing at their face to the point that they are bleeding or have caused themselves bodily harm, tears running down their face as they intone "Nuh, nuh, nuh..." over and over, knowing in some capacity that they are beyond saving but being terrified by it all the same. Then you take the next step to get a better look (as you cannot quite see who it is and perhaps their clothes are eerily similar to a players...) and they see you at the same time, and the homicidal, rabid rage or paranoia that has made them insane drives tghem to charge you into a wall... Or you enter a vehicle, windows tinted, and as you open the door you find an infected paying at the steering wheel, drooling on the broken corpse that has been jammed beneath their feet... Or you trying swimming to an island, and up from the waves come hands flailing in the water, trying to swim. A drowning player, or an infected trying to swim... you won't know unless you try to save them, for a boon of humanity, or a watery grave... Or an infected wandering the streets of Cherno at night, a flashlight in their hand, beam sweeping back and forth looking for things they cannot see. By blurring that line, the interaction between Survivors, Bandits abd Zed alike deepens and grows all the more disturbing.

We are both on the same side here so let's do each other a favor and not argue semantics. What really matters is that Rocket and friends are giving giving the standalone the full attention that a game deserves while not forgetting about their mod community.

Modified engine, built ground up specifically for DayZ. If you follow dwvwlopment morw cloaely you will see that therw is alot more going on than just modding the mod

true, but each character is unique and it is because of that I feel that the. characyer itself reacting situationally, not to the environment (though also important) would have great merit in DayZ. While adrenaline is there for players, no doubt, converting that through twotching the mouse and keyboard hardly does it justice. -
Uh... the standalone should not be considered a mod. It will be a total rebirth of DayZ that is ONLY DayZ, with no loose ends or superfluous extraneous or irrelevant code.

Less zombies?? Boooo, terrible idea! Same number or more AND harder to kill! :D This is meant to be Hell on Earth not a cakewalk! I really hope that they amp up the level of disturbing realism to the game. it is the realism that makes this game frightening. instead of ghosts and the unexplained supeenatural, enhancr sound design. Explore the true horror of reanimated corpses and the cerebral decay of the dead. How chilling would it be to see a little boy running at you, its only whole arm outstretched at you as he tries to speak but no longer has the intwlligence. All that's left is a fading conception of speech, trying to say the last word he wanted to say beforw death "Duhduhduhduhduhduhduh!!!!!""DAD! DAD! DAD! DAD!"To give zombies a ghostly shell of what made them human, betond thwir human body, is what rocketed Zombies into thr annals or Horror History in the first place -

Their motivations are simple. tbey enjoy playing God. They enjoy the panic anger and rage of other players, and how badass it makes them feel thinking they are at the top of the food chain and that nobody can stop them. Think about how Neo must have felt in The Matrix. that is the rush they seek and want. why? No idea. perhaps their fathers porked them as a child. -
