  1. I wondered about that. When I saw a BTR w/ PKM rounds in it this weekend, I figured something was wrong.
  2. I'll jump back on when the rMod gets squared away. I really like Namalsk and this is easily my favorite server to play it on now. and yes, we both survived. Took our UAZ, found a blue Ural, then another blue Ural. Was going to hit Tara Docks, but noticed zeds already in the area. Left the area and had someone ask if we could give him a ride. Soon after, saw that same person kill someone w/ an MR43 or something strange. Prime example of why I don't pick up strangers. We ended up splitting up to canvas the map for helos for the next hour until my buddy barrel rolled his Ural trying to drive down a hill. Note for all players...if you see one of those white goats, run away as far as you can. My buddy shot one to get some meat and was sniped soon after. On the old Chenaraus map, I tried to ram one w/ a GAZ, only to have the car explode when I hit it. Those goats are harbingers of death and misery. :(
  3. I'd rather see the stuff we have working correctly before implementing something else that will likely be buggy.
  4. Really? This was about 30 minutes after the restart this morning and I didn't notice any death messages. Just gonna have to log back on and do more searching as long as you don't shoot anymore of my friends. lol aka Knee Grow ;)
  5. Byrd said it was this morning. I found a bunch of destroyed choppers (not crashes, actual wreckage), 3 Urals, a few fishing boats and a PBX, Also thought the server got hit by scripters last night too. Found a BTR (with PKM rounds in the gear) and a ton of wrecked Ka-60s.
  6. Not sure if rMod didn't run properly after the last restart, but I literally drove to every town on the road and covered close to 90% of the map and found nothing but Urals and boats. No choppers, cars, motorbikes or ATVs. :(

    Gotta loves me some aircraft...

The Ka is a blast. Rockets and a grenade launcher? Yes plz. I've flown an Mi-26 on a server as well. That thing was nuts. Sidewinders, minigun, rockets, oh my!

New Map - DayzTaviana is released!

Played it last night and it's a pretty interesting map. Installation is pretty easy. DL the file and put the DayZTaviana folder in the Combined Ops folder. In DayZCommander, enter a launch parameter of -mod=@DayzTaviana and use a filter of Taviana to find servers. There's only three right now and pretty full (one is 51/51).
  9. It's pretty insane. Imagine an AS50 w/ no bullet drop. I've gotten a lot of ammo for it, but never the actual gun. Even farmed loot piles for close to 3 hours w/ no luck once.
  10. Good times this weekend. I learned a few things... -Devil goats can one-hit a GAZ :( -Ospreys are hard to fly -C-130s can not take off from NEAF -Anything goes when trying to get an Apache. -Buses can backflip if you take them down a steep hill at a high rate of speed -If an ATV hits a snail, it will flip. Pretty fun server, even if it seems like people are stashing vehicles/choppers.
  11. :( I was looking forward to grabbing that C-130 (and likely crashing it).
  12. How often is the server reset? From the looks of the this thread, it sounds like fairly often. Nothing worse than logging on a 120-vehicle server and seeing tons of crashed trucks/helis. :( As for the gas issue, I'm guessing you don't have the auto-refuel mod? I'm sure there's a fancy name for it, but it's the mod where you park next to a gas pump and the vehicle refuels. I got insanely spoiled by this on a couple other servers. I'll probably check this out tonight or tomorrow with some friends.

So what is special about namalsk

While playing yesterday, I noticed a distinct lack of hospitals and supermarkets too. Food is really scarce if you avoid Vorkuta. I haven't seen anything bigger than a chicken in the wild, so hunting is kind of a moot point.
  15. Even though it appears they basically took 90% of DayZ Redux and incorporated it into the mod, it's a MUCH needed addition. Wish vehicle flipping was incorporated though. That's extremely handy for ATVs. Would've also liked to seen the "auto-fuel" feature added (drive to gas station, vehicle refuels itself), although I can understand why it's not there. If nothing else, make it so the player has to get out of the vehicle and interact w/ the pump to start the fueling process.

I've seen some MLG Q_Qing about that railgun. I asked one guy what made it so OP and he just said "everything". lol

    Hatchet battle between two hostages.

TBH, if I ever got put in that situation, I'd turn the hatchet on my captors the first chance I had. I might die, but I'm either taking someone with me or really messing them up. :)

    DayZ Namalsk Stories Thread

I really like the map. It does have a much more intense feel than Chenarus, Lingor or any of the other maps. The little soundbites of the kids yelling and the woodpeckers that sound like Predator keep freaking me out though. I absolutely love that climate has a big effect on your character though. Heatpacks are actually relevant in this map. Tons of military loot, even if those towers are killing floors for anyone with a scoped sniper rifle. My first experience, spawned west of Old Hospital, ran north to the land bridge and was promptly sniped by some goon in a bush w/ an M14. Yep, definitely playing a DayZ map. I changed servers since it was getting dark and respawned outside the Chemical Factory. Ran away from the shore and found a helo crash. Grabbed an M14 w/ a ton of DMR mags, but also got slapped a ton by zombies (thank you annoying equipment animation). Kept running NW towards the dam and was to the point where I was passing out a lot and my vision was real blurry. Ended up walking off the bridge by the dam. :( On respawn, I find I'm near Nemsk factory. I made the trek back to my body at the Dam and recovered my gear. The next logical route was to head north towards Vorkuta for food and drink. In Vorkita, I find an ALICE pack and some much needed food. As I'm walking around a building, I notice a bush wookie (user name: max) in the building, completely oblivious to my presence. Now, if this was Chenarus or maybe even Lingor, he would've been a dead man since I shoot first and ask questions later on servers that'll likely have noobs. Instead, I asked on side chat if he was friendly. I keep sweeping the city to stock up on food & drink and possibly find some winter clothing so I can traverse the mountains a little easier. As I'm hopping from building to building, I hear the sound of vehicles entering town. Two yellow Urals roll through and stop at the supermarket on the north end of town. I see a number of people hop out and continue watching them from my rooftop perch through my M14. I ask if they're friendly...no answer. At this point, my plan is that if I don't get an answer or see them acting hostile is to shoot out the tires on the Urals and use my high vantage point to bring a little death to Vorkuta. After a minute or two though, someone types in side chat that yes, they're friendly. Still not totally convinced, I get down off the roof and make my way to a bush down the street from the Urals. At this point, I can hear noises around me, but figured it was either zeds or just ambient noises. Instead, it's a guy standing right next to me (user name: Red Leader), completely oblivious to me. He finally notices me and I wait for the inevitable gun shot to the head, but it never comes. Amazing...TWO friendlies on one map? I work my way up to the wall right behind their Urals while Red Leader makes his way toward the buildings the Ural guys were currently combing through. At this point, I notice a third Ural behind one of the industrial buildings. I know they only came into town with 2, and this one had vehicle supplies in it and a half tank of gas. I come to realize that the guys that rolled up in the Urals probably aren't the only people here. Suddenly, shots ring out from across the street and I see a couple people die. After about a minute, more shots ring out and two more die, including Red Leader. At this point, I seriously debate whether to climb the ladder right in front of me and try to kill the scumbags who had just killed a friendly. However, I have no idea where they are and how many there are. After sitting in the Ural for a few minutes, one of the Ural guys types in side chat that they killed the guys who killed one of the people in Vorkuta who had asked if they were friendly. Apparently, the Ural group was friendly, but the group that showed up in the Ural I was sitting in was definitely not. Not wanting to take any chances, I back the Ural up and split. After driving around a bit, I find a survivor running through the wilderness outside Alakit. It was one of the friendlies that was shot earlier. I pick him up, drive around a bit before deciding to log off. I handed the Ural over to him (madhatter was his name I believe), wished him luck and watched him drive off towards Vorkuta.

Its not what it looks like...

This is why I always carry a frag in my inventory. If I'm going to hell, I'm taking others with me. :)

The Art Of Tent Hunting [ Base Hunting ]

The most obvious places are the western and northern debug lines. I've found enough weapons on one run up the western debug line to outfit an entire army. Skalisty Island (aka, Chopper Island) is another common one. You can usually find most of the parts you need to rebuild the chopper there. Kozlova is hit or miss. Most of the time, the tents up there are empty. You can also sweep a circle around NWAF and find some random tents. Petrovka and Lopatino are usually gold mines for hoarders up there. Another thing I'd do on a fresh server is check southern vehicle spawns like the bus in elektro or V3S @ Solnichiny. Even if you can't fix them, they usually have something worthwhile in the gear. I can usually be geared up pretty good within an hour, even less if I get that glorious Kamenka spawn that would be littered with the bodies of dead noobs who had no idea the treasure troves they were missing out on. :).
  21. Played on your Lingor and Utes maps. Good times, except Utes. Died pretty quick on that one since I spawned by the airfield...at night. :(
  22. My best tent raid... http://i46.tinypic.com/2r26is6.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/2j41v7q.jpg That was just two of the close to two DOZEN tents in that camp. B)
  23. I've literally found everything in the game other than an RPG and radio in tents. Found so many hacked guns, I lost count. MK12, AS50 TWS, numerous SD weapons, etc.
  24. If it still causes graphical issues...yes. If it doesn't, then keep it in. People who cry about it blocking the firehouse/school/church need to stop being lazy and hit some industrial spawns for a toolbox. They're not that rare tbh. It would be nice if it's a little easier to remove though. Finding that one pixel that contains the "Remove CAT1 wire" prompt is pretty annoying. I definitely support the idea of making running into wire having a chance to cause bleeding. Also hate how it sinks to ground level when I try to put them on upper floors or raised entrances.
