Hey there Rocket, cheers for DayZ and bigger thank you for how you are doing it, Still loving it. What I would like from you is if you could explain your deffinition of a Bandit! particularly, DayZ Bandits! When you came up with the general idea and concept what did you expect from having the main threats as Infected and Bandits? Did you expect the Bandit concept to turn into the current murdering element of the game or were you going with a more traditional hold you up and rob you blind type, cause you grief, throw obstacles in your way? Has the current model deviated in any major way from what you envisioned or was it just wait and see? do you have a direction for the Bandits (Skins would denote some probable issue with banditry as people can now tell the difference) I remember earlier gameplay was more team orientated as opposed to the current trend of kill everyone game. Now the reason I bring this up is because I am confused with the whole pro PVP / anti PVP issues with the game. DayZ is a simulator for an infected apocalypse so when people play, do they assume it is part of the game to go around murdering people or play PVE? PVE has all the elements of a great experience and offer so much in gameplay but on the other hand Murdering is also one other way of playing and I can understand you want the mod / game to be a personal experience. Or...... is player preference the deciding factor? Could player preference have taken this to the extreme hence the kill fest and lack of trust in the game nowadays. Long story short, What is your deffinition of a Bandit In DayZ? Cheers. (ask rocket thread is locked, and I don't subscribe to any other DayZ sites. I am not QQ'ing I would just like to understand a little bit better without assuming what the Bandot role is)

There are settings now for admins that allow wiping of the out of map areas, so players and clans can't hide their bases and vehicles! Some servers have it some don't. I was a camp destroyer, walking the length or the outside border was a great day out looking for camps to loot and destroy, but they got sick of hiding stuff on the end of the map and being robbed so they hid their camps further inland. -

Picture it is dark, your in a house looting, you turn around and a kid zombie runs at you! Screeching to high heaven as it runs at you snarling, blood dripping from its mouth as your torch waves around frantically. You would shit them, don't lie. : p Remember zombies are being re-done for the SA, new patching and new looks, sounds and actions! -

I used to disagree with having zombie children in game, however seeing as chernaurus is a simulation they would not be represented as real children, but as zombIe children. But then again I can also sympathise with different countries certification and ratings being a stopping point! If perhaps Rocket could implement children zombies after release or as a add-on of sorts for those who want it? This would work around any limitations via regional classification. That way voters for and against could choose what to have in their gameplay. Failing that just add midget zombies and use your imagination. -
That will shit on some players if they introduce weight, I like it another game changer, but..... The hero runs a bit faster, so could this be a forced style of playing? If heros run faster by default, big packs with more slots means more weight for everyone, would this dynamic change? What about ghillie wearers? They don't show Backpacks, can you imagine playing as a normal character and then being told you are gonna be running slower? They are changing the dynamic of the zombie pathing, probably making them bee line to you instead of the usual AI zig zag? How you gonna outrun them if your looting in a town and you fill up with supplies?, runs to barracks will be pointless for any heavy duty gear, a .50 will weigh down the player without much else. This is where a vehicle will be priceless, load it up with gear to lighten the players weight restrictions. This would mean more vehicle would have to be available and these are abused or hoarded in the mod as it is.

Question about playing with a friend

It can be a pain in the arse, one spawns here and the other a way away. Me and my friends don't have ts or any other way of communicating in game we resorted to text messaging each other directions, which is bloody hard if you have not played before. Have you ever given instructions and followed information from friends who have never played? "where are you?" "in a field" "which field?" "the one with loads of trees near the edge" I need to invest in some in game comms! -
Would be nice to know when someone didn't pay the rent.

Tell me did you (OP) contribute to the cost and upkeep of the server? I think many of the servers are going to go down if players / members don't contribute to the upkeep. it's a shame really but eventually people may have contribute, or the server hosts may dwindle down to private passworded ones. -
I recall Rocket saying he was working with dogs in his own time. I think the problem was the dogs could not interact or attack other characters, which he was working on. Perhaps something here: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/08/31/dayz-dogs-detailed-in-new-video/

As stated before a great idea. I liek the potential of it affecting NVG and thermal tools, this would render them almost useless in lit up areas, A gameplay changer. Groups or teams of people could make it their gameplay of choice, An engineer if you will. repair vehicles and repair downed facilities without an actual class system. I would love to be part of a community in game with a specific role. From medic to security and everything inbetween without breaking any realism. It goes without saying after 5 years there would not be any working infrastructure in Chernarus, so Player interaction would be needed. Isn't there also a Generator in Arma 2? it could be ported in and allow a means of powering most basic elecrical systems. It could not however power a whole power station, so I'm wondering could here be a re-fueling vehicle near an airport for example? Or perhaps a ship yard tie in? (On a long note a train delivery, but admitedly this would take the game away from the apocalypse scenario) Fuel would eventually run out and is not a finite resource so could scavenging vehicles etc, produce a sustainable source (think spawning items but in motorised forms) -

Providing a player / group lives that long, it could be done. The addition of tools and a working powered work shop may be harder though. Perhaps down the line of the SA this could be introduced. Many servers are offering loads of vehicles now and I'm sure will if the SA allows mods and such there will be no need to introduce blueprints. There's many a chance in game to find a vehicle.

Remember to crawl or kneel ( z and x keys) when near zombies, more so if your not armed. Guns were taken out of fresh spawn a while ago and it makes sense! Failing that run into a Building, they walk inside most buildings! Find a weapon and use stealth! You won't go far wrong!

I can't play with the music on, freaks me out and on top of that when you are as pap with a weapon like me, you need total silence to detect everything around you. Though I wouldn't mind a radio in vehicles, that would allow me to take long Sunday drives in the country!

I don't particularly care when the SA will be released. There's too much happening in the community outside of the SA. You gotta stop and consider the B2, if they were helping out as much as stated then they will be hard to replace, so I would expect a slower development. With new maps coming and other mod makers showing their stuff, there's a lot to play with in the Mod for now! Lots of experimenting which is good for the game in the long run. I hope the SA when it does come out will be stunning, new weather, Chernarus Plus, rag doll physics, it already sounds like a new game. I only hope the core of DayZ will remain for the experience.
