Having to eat every hour....eh..what?.
Bitey replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think its kinda odd to eat every hour. I mean, a really hard working man, like a ground worker or similiar needs about 3000 calories a day. One can of Beans has about 400 calories. So what you need to eat is about 8 cans a day. But heres something more. If you run all day and youre sweating as fuck you sweat out 4 litres per day minimum. One can of soda has about 300 ml of liquid. Thats roughly 12 cans of soda per day. Minding that you get calories through the soda (sugar) you should drink far more but eat less. Thats just logical. A normal man can live without food for 2-3 weeks but just about 3-4 days without water. -
(Translated from german. Original at: http://www.pcgames.de/Day-Z-Software-255532/News/DayZ-Arma-2-Mod-mit-420000-Spielern-Moeglicherweise-Standalone-Version-geplant-978586 ) Currently about 420.000 players in DayZ: Arma 2-Mod - Probably a Standalone-Version planned The Military-Shooter ArmA 2 got a boost through the Zombie-Mod DayZ and celebrates its reincarnation at place 1 in the Steamcharts. The inventor of the mod, Dean Hall, enjoys the success of his ArmA2-Mod, which is currently played by about 420.000 players, in a interview and explains that he would like to see DayZ as a Free2Play-type Standalone-Game. He further revealed that dogs will find their way in the Zombie-Mod. Planned are german shepherd dogs. Bohemia Interactive is pleased that ArmA 2 returned into the selling charts of Steam. The developer Dean Hall, who is responsible for the favorised Multiplayer-Mod, shows himself very glad about the unsuspected success in a interview with eurogamer.net (7. July 2012). According to the New Zealander about 420.000 players play the mod. Hall expects it to be about 500.000 at the end of the week and hopes for a Stand-Alone conversion of his successful ego-shooter modification. "Right now we got 1.000 server. We take care of 110.000 players in a 24-hour period this time", describes the Multiplayer-Developer of the czech studio Bohemia Interactive. In the ArmA 2-Mod DayZ the players start on a beach and need to collect different items which are essential for further survival. Actually Hall wanted to show a technical sample of his work with the Mod: "There are no rules. There are no objectives. Indeed it was planned as a Tech-Demo of my current work." The only AI, which was built in the Arma 2-Mod, is the one of the Zombies - The mod itself is based on the reactions of the players. The big success of DayZ forced Hall to upgrade his servers 6 times. 5 servers are not usable anymore because of overheating, every update caused a server crash. Because of its success Hall wishes a Standalone-Version of his Zombie-"Add-on" on the base of a free2play-model. If DayZ will really be a independent game someday is not sure yet - but one related question was already answered: "There is a problem with embedding the mod into the game because there are many things which are causing problems at this moment", explains the developer the delay. And he reveals the race of the soon to be implemented dogs: "Right now it will be german shepherds."

Im just curious. I played ArmA for a looong time and was very disappointed when ArmA 2 was just released and full of bugs and errors. But after seeing DayZ Videos on Youtube my addiction for Zombie/Survival Games kicked in and i bought it from Steam. Whats your story ?
-
Since some people have a hard time getting started in a world where players can shoot players (What a new, surprisingly uncommon game concept) i suggest adding the option to disable PvP / Friendly Fire when creating a server. I personally think it sucks since PvP is a main part of the whole atmosphere (No, im no bandit. Just a paranoid survivor that grooms his mental instability, teeheehe) but at least people can learn the game mechanics without worrying about getting sniped for fun. Good Idea / Bad Idea ?
-
Obviously :D

I totally understand where youre going at. While typing i thought about that too. You could collect loot unharmed and switch to a PvP server to put that safely found Ghillie and SVD Cano to good use. BUT by playing on PvE Servers you dont get PvP Skill AND you could loose your stuff on a PvP Server quicker as well. Another solution would be: Separate Servers for the PvE Charakter Cloud. I got two characters because i play on EU and US Server. So it shouldnt be so much work to make a separate one for the PvE Charakter. But i get you. Id like it more if PvE/PvP Characters arent the same.

Background Story: Bandit Profession: Sniper Teeheehe No, actually the idea is pretty good. Reminds me of the Mount & Blade; Warband Character Creation.

Drinking from the ocean is unhealthy. Try to find inland ponds or wells. Most of the time a well is behind a church.
-
What about this: Why dont we implement a sound where the players character screams constantly "Im a Bandit, fucking whack me !" and is hearable about 500m for players and zombies ? Or what about this: If you kill someone, a magnet spawns in your backpack which is not removable and attracts bullets / zombies / randomly occuring doorsteps who will break your legs when you walk through them ?
-
You are aware that cars despawn, are only avaiable on the servers you built them on and are gone in the digital nirvana when the server resets ? Just mentioning ...
-
Hey Marik, im of the same age-group and your story seems similiar so let me give you my two cents. Remember, its just my opinion. This Mod is about atmosphere and removing the bandit skin adds more of it. Its about tension and how you act with another survivor when being confronted with him. Again: Atmosphere. Communication is limited because of your own personal gaming experience which should be more intense when not reading about bandits in cherno' date=' a helicopter crash north of Guglovo and someone nagging about errors. Not to mention the people who talk on global channel via Voice IP. Death is certain, life is not. Paranoia will help you with this because you dont need to know. What does it help to know who killed who ? You would know that this person is a bandit so i refer to my bandit skin argument.
-
You can pick up your belongings but you must be on the same server you died on. Oh, and chances are high the sniper has looted your body already or is still around.
-
If you dont want to go to Cherno or Elektro you should look in deer stands and, when still at the coast, check out Balota Airstrip. Otherwise Berezino is a good place to look for when spawned northeast. I find Morphine sometimes in castles but im not sure if this is common or i just was lucky. Stary Sobor has a lot of military tents, btw. But it is often occupied by Bandits so hop to a server with low population.

I can run BF3 Ultra Quality for weeks but ArmA 2 seems kinda greedy. Whatever: Try cleaning the fans of your GPU, CPU and Power Supply. Its summer, dust gets stirred up more easily. Oh, i dont know if that helps: I opened one site of my tower, the one facing to the wall because the wall is always very cool. But you have to put it very close so nothing gets in that opening.
-
If you have a european keyboard its the "-" Button and you change channels with "." and "," even if you can cycle through the channels with just one button. Oh, and a quick tip: Before you use Ingame VOIP (Capslock by default) select direct communication so the whole map does not hear you.
-
Well' date=' how much surviving skills would be necessary if you spawn in a M1 Abrams full of beans, ammo and pepsi ? Id never run. Without a weapon id be stealthy as fuck.

Noch ein Clanie und ich spielen regelmäßig. Kannst ja mal auf unserem TS vorbeischauen. 62.146.10.140:6380 Schreib entweder mich (Agotharis) oder speedygamespeed an um dort reden zu können.

No, the steep learning curve keeps the casual gamers at bay who just want to log in quick and pop some freshspawns at coast.

Day Z is insulting to LGBT people
Bitey replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I tried to be serious and say that the one-time chance to choose gender is because of technical limitations. But then i gave a fuck and just laughed. x-D -
1.) You will die in DayZ. No matter what you do. 2.) Dont get attached to your gear. 3.) When you play alone: Be paranoid, KoS 4.) When you have a big backpack, KoS 5.) When you have a above average weapon, KoS 6.) FFS prone, think strategically, get to know famous sniper spots. 7.) DayZ is hard. But not impossible. Actually its getting pretty easy if you know where and how to loot. Otherwise: Convince friends to play with you. People will think twice to attack 3 armed guys with the same clantags who work together. It will be more fun, it ill be more rewarding (You actually can help unconsius people with broken bones without getting shot afterwards). You dont need to pussy out everytime someone trys to shoot you. You can build a car much faster. List goes on.

[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Bitey replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Im seeing bored bandits geting a instant boner, teehee I want to know if people prefer Coke over Pepsi. Can you put up this statistic ? Thanks, youre a darling. -
