  1. Scottish 14 and 16 year olds looking for a group. Only recruit us if you have a moderate understanding of the game, a working mic and good English. We mostly play seriously but we're up for a laugh.

    Fun times in Elektro.

After an armed truck full of bandits rolled in and assaulted me in the church. I spawned near elektro again and decided to go in for my stuff, knowing they'd be gone by now. The server had 5 people including me online. 2 or 3 of them in the truck, only 1 or 2 people could potentially be any threat from now on. As I looted the supermarket, church and pub I headed into the office, looking for a better bag and as much food as possible to get my blood back up after bleeding from zombie hits. Looting the first floor of the office, barbed wire blocked 2 rooms, I didn't hear footsteps at this point but as I headed upstairs someone emptied an entire makarov magazine in my direction, I sprinted into the room across from the stairs. Switching to my ak74, I covered both entrances to the room anticipating for him to come in. After half a minute passed I shouted down the microphone. "Don't fucking shoot, I'll empty a whole mag into you if I have to. Just tell me you're friendly and we can both get out of here, no harm done." No reply. I kept speaking to him, I remained calm, I'd been through situations like this before. He finally replied quietly. "I'm upstairs, I won't shoot. Just leave" I'd been through this shit before, I can't trust anyone. The minute I walk out of the exit he'll shoot me in the back. I just stayed quiet. I walked out of the room covering the lower and upper stairs. After having a quick check of my floor. I knew there was a ladder outside leading to the upper floor, I held onto the ladder at the top, in third person. Seeing if he would appear. I moved into the third floor, ready to shoot him on sight. After clearing I covered the ladder to the upper portion of the roof, knowing he was trapped. I heard him moving on the roof and he heard me. It was silent on both microphones, I waited for him to say or do something that would get me out of this alive. Looking up to the roof, I seen part of his foot exposed. It was perfect, I set my gun to semi automatic and shot like hell at his left foot, during which I screamed a both terrifying but cheesy phrase... "Trust noone motherfucker" His body rolled off the roof, ripe for the picking; I spent too long searching it, sorting out extra magazines in my bag and medical supplies. I knew it would take a while but I felt safe knowing only the bandits in the truck, or the 1 other player online could kill me. *pop* 1 bullet. I fell to the floor, dead.
  3. I just died so I'm not really into joining a group at the moment... :/
  4. Ahh good thanks! Helpful guy. You're getting beans.
  5. Everyone. is. a. bandit. I've never came across someone who hasn't shot me, unless unarmed.

What is needed to become a bandit?

I'm pretty sure 'bandit kill' means how many bandits you have killed. Although I'm not sure how many kills it takes to be counted as a bandit...
  7. It's a good idea. Robbing survivors. Make sure you get a note of their names so you can report them if they disconnect. And when you're robbing them, leave one or two valuables with them, so they atleast have something to lose so if they shoot you then they'll lose it. I'm not saying yes to your invitation, just saying it's a good idea :beans:

    I'm new, looking for 1v1s

Yeah cool. I'll 1v1 you, Just go on Multiplayer> Face off> 1v1> THIS ISN'T CALL OF DUTY
  9. DayZ is day zero. You start off on day 0. And in what calendar does 'day zombie' make any sense.
  10. I'm 14, Scottish. Like to think I'm quite mature, up for a laugh, but also want some serious tactical play at times. I'd preferably play with some people my age, or in the Eu. Want to know we could trust eachother. Intermediate experience, not too noobish. Just post on this if you're interested in 'hiring' me :)
  11. Yeah, got teamspeak but the other guy offered first :/ Outypoo, I sent you a request on skype?

    Simple Solution to Banditry

I love this idea... Maybe there could be a kinda rank system? Raising by 1 if you kill a bandit, lowering if you kill survivors ( Negative rank = bandit, positive rank = survivor) And maybe you could obtain skins at say rank -10.. Rank +10, that kinda thing. (But as you said that makes the game similar to other ones) Edit: To change anyones mind. If this was implemented, imagine seeing a town over a hill. Fenced off with barbed wire. People with assault rifles stand on rooftops and civilians trade in a square. Cars parked outside along the road. The cooperative gameplay would be amazing... But it would change the game completely and alot of people wouldn't agree with whole towns of survivors.
  14. I made a suggestion. About insanity, I didn't once insult anyone with mental problems. I just suggested a way to combat the random killing, by having consequences for it. I made a suggestion, meaning I suggested something. If you don't like the idea, disagree with it.
  15. I propose a new system for killing, to prevent banditry/unnecessary killing Edit: LOWER the ammount of banditry and unnecessary killing which is both an annoyance and unrealistic. Which is a huge problem for the games future. And also change the way to obtain bandit skins. It's not a great idea but it's something noone has came up with yet, it's basically a system of madness and the mental consequences of killing another survivor. In a real life zombie apocalypse, if you see a survivor, you see someone who can help you or accompany you in your adventures. You wouldn't come across someone and see someone you could kill for food/weapons... If you thought about killing someone in real life you wouldn't be able to live with that thought, it would drive you insane over time. The system could be a percentage of how sane your character is: 100% being the starting amount and the maximum, normal sanity, 0% being completely insane. (We'll investigate the consequences of it later) It would reset upon death and it would change accordingly when you kill a bandit, 'threat' or survivor. Killing a bandit would raise your sanity by 10%, Making you feel good about yourself, you'd know you possibly just saved a few lives. Killing a threat would not affect your sanity. A threat would be someone who has already shot at you and provoked an attack/self defense. This would be sort of neutral, you'd hate the thought of killing someone, but be relieved knowing they shot at you first. (A bandit who had provoked an attack will still provide the effects of killing a bandit, still raising it by 10%) Killing an 'innocent' would lower your sanity by 5%, killing someone who has done no harm to you is definitely a bad thing. The effects of insanity could be as follows: 100%-0% Maximum and minimum. 100%-90% No effect. 90%-60% Bandit skin obtained. Permanent light shaking which other players can see. Hand-eye coordination affected, you won't be able to reload as fast or change weapons nearly as efficiently. 60%-30% '90 to 60's effects worsened. 30%-0% Effectively... Brain damage. Random murmuring and heavy breathing, your character will howl and scream when they're in just a small amount of pain. It can be heard by players and zombies, making your insanity clearly visible to other players. Your sanity can't ever be raised. It will only lower down to 0%. You'll never be sane again. Some items could effect this: Maybe owning/using some sort of item could temporarily disable the effects. Injecting drugs/drinking alcohol could disable the initial signs of insanity (the '90 to 60's effects could temporarily stop) Of course the drugs/drink aspect might not be allowed in the game. /End Idea I've barely even played dayZ much yet, or used this forum. I'll check this topic for suggestions and add them if enough people want them. I'm not an expert in insanity and I'm just 14. Just so you know :) (Remember to vote in the poll.)

    Insanity System, combating banditry

I post a suggestion and I'm called a naive immature child little shit. I'm 14. Despite all the off-topics and silly little pointless remarks like 'Oh in Afghanistan killing is fine, I've killed people lololol' That's a war. What you were in was a War in Afghanistan and a Post apocalyptic zombie survival rpg based in Russia is a completely different thing. If you disagree with it, vote in the poll and shut the fuck up, or offer an alternative. If you agree with it, vote in the poll and shut the fuck up. If you think maybe, you should post a suggestion like the poll says. Considering the playerbase clearly hates the idea and someone who thought it could have worked. Smarten up. I put an idea forward and it gets this much hate? Just disagree with it. No need to start arguments over it, It's as if you just assume this will get added to the game and use every fibre in your pathetic frail body to prevent it from happening. Fraggle, thanks for showing alternatives to avoiding bandits and saying something useful. Sandy State Phantom. Your first piece of shit remark: What other alternative would there be to raise your sanity? Sit on a computer raging to people half your age? No. There's no alternative, I don't see how that's immature, I'll not count naive because you couldn't even spell it right. Your second remark... 'Implying that only bad people have poor mental health' Oh so you're saying there should be MORE ways to become insane? WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING ON ABOUT

    Insanity System, combating banditry

If the game is supposed to be hyper realistic. Mental health counts. Don't say it's punishing bandits, light shaking is fine, skins are fine. Murmuring is fine. Just keep on your drugs and the effects wear off temporarily. If you play a realistic game, you should probably agree that a normal person won't last mentally, just going around killing 10-25 people in an apocalypse. If the effects are too harsh, just suggest an alternative. Banditry is a good way to play the game but it is too common, it should be kept for the best of players with the cunning to play a good bandit. Instead of someone who'll just come up from behind, notice you have a decent bag and shoot you in the head.

    Insanity System, combating banditry

Fair enough. Idea is down the drain after 2 replies. No need to be a cunt about it. Edit: This isn't to get rid of bandits, just to make bandits have to play in a completely different way from survivors. If I wanted bandits to be rid of I'd post a suggestion saying they should disable pvp.

    Insanity System, combating banditry

So you think insanity should be used in another way than to combat banditry? You must see the amount of players who hate unnecessary deaths all because of bandits, I'll think of ways to make it more atmospheric than punishing then... Remember that some items could influence your sanity and allow some bandits to carry on killing not worrying about sanity. Just give a few suggestions
