I'd like to see more Russian/Soviet weapons and way less western weapons. Adding some "speacial forces" UMP does not sound good to me. If you really want to add some crappy gun,we could put a spring-powered pellet rifle.

i agree with point no.1 About point no.5 it would lose the concept behind the Day Z project: you have to struggle for EVERYTHING,even for a sip of water. Starting with absolutely no weapons ,get killed by the zombies maybe once or twice,actually teaches the player that it's not a "run'n'fun" project. The great feeling about getting some good gear in DayZ is that you are the only one to be thanked for what you have.Starting with some basic weapon destroys the atmosphere . -

I don't like this idea. Sniper ammo are already so rare,and you want me to waste 100 bullets before i can effectively use it!?! Let alone, the noise you'd make during this kind of practice. Anyway,people who are new to the Arma engine and universe,and just bought the game to play Day Z do actually need some exercise before hitting something at long distance. On the other hand,people who already owned arma are some kind of vets,and can handle a gun more or less. I think this already divides people in "civilian survivors" and " ex soldiers" :) and that having to deal with the breath,shooting stance,wounded arms, panic attack due to hordes of zombies is already enough!! Trust me,i have see people unloading on me without hitting once! -

i don't think that that is going to happen.Imagine just respawning as a crawler.My god,condemned to be the slowest creature in DayZ,i'd quit immediately. The thing of the military zombies is fine to me,it could avoid military bases camping and so on.

exactly.The thing is that if you don't give people something to work on,something they can't do it by themselves...they'll just get everything they can,no matter how many players do they have to kill! The problem is,how to make banditism possible but not convenient,not how to make banditism impossible!

This idea is da bomb! It's really awesome! I nevertheless think that implementing this mechanic should come along with other changes. First of all, a clan/guild/faction system should be created,otherwise this would just be an excuse for bandits to get near other players with an apparently friendly behaviour and then shooting them in the back just to loot and leave,while the honest people/survivors are sinking in the shit. If the clan/guild/faction system were created,we could also make a spy-mechanic,that could allow clans to send spies in enemy clans,just to find out when they will try to liberate which city and attack them from behind.Ambushes of this kind may turn a simple horde-mode into a huge meat-grinder between clans and zombies.Simply epic! Then,the conquered city could go back to its nrmal daily-routine,although everything would exist just to serve the victorious clan. More skilled players could bring back to the stores equip that they don't need,allowing less geared players of the clan or neutral players to purchase items and so on. Creating a clan system would really make this game the most awesome shit in the universe,allowing people not only to choose which faction to join,but also making possible for a player to lead from the smallest group of bandits to a army of 70-80 people!!! Uh,the idea has gone a bit far,maybe i should create another topic for this? Oh god,i want to cry for how cool this would be. -
Uhhh maybe we could add some kind of NU base (we might use Czech army which is already in arma) with hospitals and food,but where you are only accepted once in while. At the same time,bandits could raid it and loot some good/great amount of pills,bandages whatsoever and loot the UN guards' armory!

Definitely! This is a great idea,as it would turn Dayz people from a generic atmosphere to a more "vodka-and-fur-hats" one! Nice work for the research! I do agree that carbines of the AK series should be implemented (AKS-74,AKS-47,AKS-74u and so on),but i think that the rest of the stuff you wrote is fine. One little suggestion...what about the TT Tokarev? I'd love to loot it! -
The backstory of Day Z that i have in my mind is something like a mass evacuation,military law in charge,government giving few to none information about what is happening. When i spawn with no equipment,i think about one random guy who ran out of fuel for his car and just tries his luck with what he has in his car's first aid kit. I really wouldn't think of a guy who is aware of the SHTF situation and gets everything he cans!

I look at this post as a try to improve the social aspect of the game. I agree with you,i'd really like to find somebody which is not just some guy who wants to rob you when you are not looking. These days,i can not trust anybody,as long as killing for "stuff" is just that reckless. Playing alone is a bit frustrating to me,because it gets you to be afraid of other players even more of the zombies. Grouping up could give an interesting point of view,like people raiding together towns or/and other groups. That would be a lot of fun. Just imagine if you could really simulate real life mechanics,with one leader being in charge of all the food,all the stuff...
