    My friend turned into a zombie...

    Sorry to say that, but that is bullshit! Invent a screenshot button and we could easily prove the bugs and hacks ingame! Same thing happened to me yesterday: http://dayzmod.com/f...de/#entry661464 Not everyone has the possibility to capture videos. and when that happens to you, you dont even have 1 minute before you die, so even if i would have taken out my RL cam it could have been to late and no one would have believed me... how can you not believe your community, when those things happen to more than one person in an alpha stated game? pics or it didnt happen... in a game that has no screenshot button... *facepalm* EVEN FKN MINECRAFT HAS A SCREENSHOT BUTTON... -.-
  2. That is pretty much the same thing that happened to me, so it might be a hacker, but did they get error messages like i did? (just made an edit on the original post) And of course after you hear so many rumors about ghillies and things like that happen to you right after you used it, you might think it's the ghillies fault ^^
  3. Yes, i have read the first topic, that i shouldnt post when i land in the ocean after taking on a ghillie, but this one seems different. Date/Time: around 1 am gmt +1 today What happened: Found a ghillie on a helicopter crashsite, used the ghillie and spawned directly in the ocean. spawned back at the chopper 10 seconds later. i still had all my stuff and the ghillie on me. so i crouched around the heli to take the rest of what was there. Suddenly i got spawned into the ocean again... when i came back my skin was changed to the skin of a zombie pilot, after that happened i kinda like comitted suicide by hitting myself. There was no zombie arround, but i still got hit, broke my legs and got unconcious. I alt f4'd and when i joined another server to see if anything changed i obviously spawned unconcious, BUT i still got hit by zombies which is impossible since the helicopter was out in the open on the other server. Thats why i think i committed some kind of suicide... I just remember that i got error messages, i cant remember them, and i didnt have enough time to capture them. First time i got the message right after i got spawned back to the heli with my ghillie. Seemed like some file is missing or cant be used... 3-4 line text... and normal error window like that when the game cant find the sunglasses... The first time i could just click it away by clicking continue, but after I got teleported to the sea again and came back as zombie pilot I got the same message, only this time i was losing blood rapidly and couldnt click continue at all, the button was there but nothing happened... I hope this helped a bit :/
  4. No i heard shots, screen got white-ish and then i saw him on my left. I just entered the last room of the barracks (furthest away from the entrance) found an akm on the floor before and in this last room i saw an akm mag just in the moment when i wanted to pick it up (just turned away from the room window) he must have spawned... PS: i know what youre talking about, seen that aswell when my friends spawned.
  5. Ok you're right maybe i was too angry, all buildings may be a bit too much, but seriously why would you save your game in the barracks? I never did, i did save in the woods next to the barracks but not in the buildings there. And even if you have to disconnect in one of the barracks, it should be possible but on the next logon you will spawn in front of that same barrack, so that if someone is in there he can at least hear your footsteps. That's all i want! I like this idea aswell! Something needs to be done. But i cant stay all the time in the map menu when im in the barracks^^ and i never saw any connecting message when one of my friends joined the server (can you disable that message in the serverchat?). And again before i saw the hopper spawning i was already getting shot (desync?).
  6. It was a bit difficult to find a name for this topic. But just today when i entered the barracks i got killed by a server hopper, that spawned right in front of me. I just entered the last room of the barracks wanted to open my gear and got shot by an assaultrifle. I could clearly see that the guy just spawned right in front of me, but he was already shoting at me before i even saw him. A friend of mine was still there at the barracks i told him to head there and kill him as soon as he gets out of the barracks. He heard him drink and walk in the barracks was ready to shoot him down as he comes out, but well... he never did... shortly after my friend heard him drinking (i was still in the lobby) 3 ppl disconnected. My friend went in to loot my body and no one was there. It was impossible to get out without my friend seing him, so he must have server hopped from barrack to barrack without even leaving the fkn building... So my suggestion is to disable the abort/ disconnect button in buildings especially in the barracks since its obviously cheating, when a guy pops out infront of you eventhough the only entrance is behind you. Better would be to disable spawning in the barracks at all, since they could still alt f4 to leave... like if you accidentially have a pc crash or summin, while you're in the barracks, you will automatically spawn somewhere at the front door... So is there any chance to do something about this? really pissed me off today, great disadvantage! PS: i didnt know what i should search for, so sorry in advance if there already is a thread about this issue!

    Unistalling Arma II ...

    i just did it myself, so no your dayZ character will be fully geared when you reinstall. I dont know what happens to your OA and arma 2 ingame saves though. Edit: one sec too late^^
  8. Alright i fixed it. I uninstalled arma 2 and arma 2 OA via steam. then i deleted all the folders left on my harddrive (the @DayZ is located in your OA folder). Also dont forget to uninstall 6 updater (on the last question it asked me, i choose no since i was sure to download it again). And then i followed this guide to reinstall the 2 games: http://forums.steamgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=31605396 (scroll up to the first post) afterwards i still couldnt run arma 2 OA (bad key error or something), but at least arma 2. so i first downloaded the beta patch for it (95208 for me that was) and then reinstalled 6 updater. I updated six updater and the launcher and then i opened up arma OA again, but it still wouldnt work. So i made a steam shortcut of arma 2: OA and went to properties of the game in the steam library to type in this code into the set launch options field: -mod=Arma2;EXPANSION;CA -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ -nosplash (source: http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=2717901 4th posting) in the end i still couldnt start arma 2: OA via steam, BUT i can join now via six launcher. I have the old layout/HUD back. Gearmenu/inventory works fine again and the old loading screens are back. I hope this works for those of you having the same problems i had. Im not much of a computer geek, so it was try and error. i recommend opening the armory (singleplayer) on arma 2 and load chernarus at least once.
  9. same here, having also totally different loading screens. using patch 1.7.2.3. and beta patch 95208. happened after i installed arma 2 and uninstalled arma 2 free... Edit: Also getting error messages when i join the game (bought on steam, started via desktop shortcut): 1) No entry 'bin\config.bin/RscInGameUI/RscUnitInfoSoldier/Background.type' 2) Picture ca\ui\data\logo_arma2pmc_ca.paa not found

    You most exciting DayZ moment?

    found my first primary weapon, a cz sniperrifle in the barn at prigorodky. went up north into the woods. just when i reached the first tree i spotted a player coming out of the woods. i immediately lay down underneath a tree and stalked him, when i saw that he was with 2 other players. could read the local chat, they wanted to go to the barn where i just came from... and one of them had an akm. so when they where heading towards the brickwall of the building northeast of the barn i aimed at them with my new cz. suddenly one of them was aiming with his pistol at me right through my scope, but didnt shoot (he had sunglasses so it was even more intense). when i saw the guy with the akm crouching in front of him i shot. first the guy with the akm, then the one with the sunglasses staring at me. the third one disconnected... only 10 minutes after i slit down a mountain, broke my leg and died... xD

    Progress NOT saved

    Same here also happened to 2 of my friends who were with me. Date/Time: 11 July 6pm gmt+1 What happened: 1) loggin onto a server lost 6 hrs. of todays progress, also two of my squad mates had the same issue. 2) server crashed after an hour and i got set back to that very same spot i left yesterday lost all my progress again... so i got set back to the same spot 2 times, one of my mates was bleeding i managed to find a cow so i could eat and go bandage him, well im on that mountain again without food, starving and my mate is bleeding for the 3rd time today on the same spot...   12. First of i'd like to say this is a great mod! Eventhough the start was quite hard i enjoy the game very much. While we (me and a friend of mine) were waiting for servers to join, we came up with an idea that may add some more fun to the "metagame" (like when you have all the equipment and good weapons and dont know what to do now). We would call it Bounty hunting. First idea was to somehow select a player that will be randomly selected by the game that needs to be killed, but then we came to the conclusion that it may be annoying for many players since they have no good weapons to defend themselves and backstabbery would be even worse. So we thought why not create an AI bot that has the same skin as a normal player and doesnt move like a zombie (just like a normal player, but controlled by the game). This bot could spawn in any town on the map and when the mission starts his location will be revealed to every player on the server. The bot doesnt just stay in one city, he moves to other towns, once he reaches another town the new location will be revealed to all human players again. But to last the game a bit longer, the bot wont be attacked by any zombies (i guess thats a bit obvious but i rather say it in advance). So the cool thing about it is, that human players dont know if they are aiming at the bot or other human players once they reached the town where the bot was spotted recently (they might learn how the bot moves, but well thats up to the programming of that bot). So many hunters will deliberatly or incidentially kill other hunters. Which could result in players not even daring to hunt the bot, because they know that there will be many players arround the location of the bot. When the bot gets killed the person that landed the last shot on him will be earned with for example points in a hunting ranklist and a rare weapon with enough ammo (like 6 clips), that can be found on the dead body of the bot. Now it's up to you: there are two possibilities of going on with the game: 1) After a cooldown the bot will spawn again (with a new weapon or other gadgets). The cooldown might be an hour, might be more to give the players a chance to spread arround the map again and collect new stuff for the next hunt. 2) The player that killed the bot will be the next target. Here again its dependend on the players if they disconnect once they become target, or if their squad turns against them to earn points and so on... Then again the player could earn more points in the ranklist by defending his life through killing either zombies or humans. And he might get special messages for more cool weapons, ammo and other gear at location where nobody would look for them (like a small shack or summin like that). That again could increase the team/squad factor of the ppl defending him to get cool weapons aswell because he tells them. Once that player gets killed you might put another Bot round in it otherwise there will be one big playerbulk running along the server because they constantly kill each other. I rather go for the first idea of bots spawning as target, but if you put some more thoughts into the idea with the player becoming target, it might be even more interesting for the game.
