Hey all, I've been trying to meet up with a mate on a server, and in both 6Launcher and DayZ Commander 90% of all servers either of us suggest, the other one cannot see. We have the same Arma2, Dayz, Beta, and launcher versions.. Anyone else experienced this before? Any solutions?
-
Moral of the story is; You should have shot on sight.. ^_^
-
This is another great example of how DayZ brings out player behaviours and creates real life scenarios; in this case though it shows an example of some spineless cretins out numbering and ganging up on freshly spawned unarmed people, robbing them of start out gear and ordering them about, getting off on the 'power'... This is real bully mentality here. I bet these idiots were bullied at school or beaten a lot by their fathers, and now this is their retribution. You are pathetic, trying to pass off this shit as rocket endorsed fun just shows your lack of intelligence. I'd love to see them do this on 2-3 well armed bandits... Right before the bandits waste them.

I cannot join servers I normally go on, I only see 500 servers, and when trying to join my friends, some see servers I see and some don't... what the deuce?

6Launcher and DayZ Commander inconsistencies

6Launcher and DayZ Commander inconsistencies
fearz0r replied to fearz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry, mate.. what I meant by inconsistencies was that using either of these launchers, we both couldn't see the same servers. So for example I'd search UK331 on both 6launcher and commander, and my mate couldn't see it in either. And vice versa.. <_< -
HAHA - you're forgetting about the "equal opportunity" companies? :D

so... much... text... I will get around to replying properly once I've collected some food, water and a sleeping bag.. it's going to take a while. NB: this should really have been posted in the "suggestions" forum. Double posting isn't really a good thing to do either.. just saying.

Cool! PM me the times you mainly play and we can sort something out. Btw, its not about being 'good', its about being 'careful' ;) haha, thanks man - I appreciate the kind words!

Well if you want to team up some time in the future, PM me.. we'd gladly team with a fellow survivor :)

I'm just wondering. I used to play Battlefield 3 a lot, and can only say I saw maybe 10 confirmed hackers in the 9 or so months I played (2-3 hours a day), and yet the community would regularly rage on the Battlelog forums about how there's a hacker on every server. When I started playing Day Z a month or so ago, I started to see threads in the forums about hacker sightings. Since then, it's like every third thread is a rage thread over teleporting hackers, hackers that wipe whole servers, hackers that spawn next to players and hack them to death while taking no damage etc.. I have yet to see a hacker and I play a lot too. I don't PVP, I don't even go near other players so I'm wondering if the majority of the players complaining are mainly PVP players? If so, maybe mix up your play style? Stay away from towns and airfields etc? (just a suggestion really - you should play how ever you like). Also, what's the most common type of hack you guys are seeing? Are they mostly 'item spawning' or are they 'combat hacks'? I only ask out of curiosity as I'm surprised that if hacking is so rife, why I haven't experienced it yet. Burro

Arma 2 was never in a good state when released, and hasn't really improved since. I appreciate your opinions and points of view, but a lot of what you're complaining about is core arma 2 engine bugs. The zombies for example; arma 2's engine was never designed to have an enemy rush around the map and attack without a weapon. Rocket and co have had to modify their code to allow for this, and as it's in alpha stage right now, it's only going to improve. Rocket has actually stated that he has done motion capture and will be implementing this at a later date. Tell you what, watch/listen to this: http://youtu.be/6BlHvh0JVuk?hd=1&t=18m50s (i've put it so it'll start around the part where Dean talks about the zombies, but you should really listen to the whole thing). Regarding the Bandits and community, I cannot say I agree with you. I believe the shoot on sight is still fear based and not to do with bored players only finding enjoyment or excitement through pvp combat. I've ran into players several times in the past who have seen me, turned and ran in the opposite direction, only to cautiously return five minutes later asking if I'm a bandit.. This community is like any other, it's full of children, adults, mature children and immature adults. People have always disagreed with one another, and in many if not most cases, they've attacked each other for disagreeing with them. This is very apparent in the gaming community (and internet in general) with the classification of the "internet troll", people now simply argue and attack others for the joy of it and reactions they get. It's nothing new, it's been happening forever. I personally feel this is a pretty good community. It's a massive improvement over other games communities, like Battlefield 3's where most users provoke and antagonise others for simply posting a reply or thread, and the verbal/racial/sexual abuse on their forums is absurd! As for the rest, mate, be patient. This is an alpha build. It'll only get better, but it all takes time. Thanks for sharing your views though, it's nice to read a constructive post.

I appreciate what you're saying but the fact of the matter is; the biggest problem is not that people don't know the difference, its that the cheaters exist in the first place. The semantics behind a hacker or cheater aside, whatever you want to call them, they simply need to be dealt with.

Ouch. Well then buddy, I guess you're screwed.. unless you find a server with an active admin, password protected or host your own I guess?

How are we supposed to play this game?
fearz0r replied to magicool's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
See the server versions via DayZ Commander -
Was this the tree your mate was under? If so, it might explain why he died...
-
These two sound similar.. same hacker? You can't avoid it really. If they can teleport to you, there's really nowhere you can hide. Saying that though, as mentioned above, playing on low pop servers might be a start as hackers wouldn't get as much satisfaction killing just a few players..

I killed my friend last night. (small story)
fearz0r replied to KEEPCARLM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good job you weren't holding a grenade.. -
If you plan to check out an airfield and you're unarmed, do it on a night server when it's raining heavily. You'll have a little more protection, in terms of detection.

1.62 = all glass now show as heat with thermal gun
fearz0r replied to oleg86@msn.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Didn't you read that reply in the link? It explains why you see heat. Also, this is alpha.. so there will be numerous things that are broken and get fixed moving forwards. -
Just came across this Day Z interview on YouTube..

Very deep, I could feel how he felt. Man this mod brings out such deep emotions in me, I've never been affected this much by a game. (not my video) -
Just came across this Day Z interview on YouTube..
fearz0r replied to fearz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, agreed. I really believe his body language and emotion in his voice. It's both sad and uplifting; Sad because of what he 'had' to do, and uplifting because this game created those feelings in him. It shows his humanity. Although this is a game, people can still react to moral decisions, whether real or fiction. I love that. -
This game will fail long term if the PK problem isnt addressed
fearz0r replied to Gadget (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
While i don't agree with the op because its just a matter of how you play the game, it does sadden me to see just how many children (based on the type of replies here) there are playing this game.. -
While the definition of bandit is "a robber at gunpoint", in this mod it comes down to the player's feeling/mood at the time. I've seen videos of bandits robbing at gunpoint and then leaving, only to see another survivor with no weapons running across a field away from them, and they've shot him and carried on about their business. No robbery, just murder.. Trying to classify the two in this thread is a little pointless really.
