    I don't mind the melee system currently. People seem to forget this is alpha. More melee weapons would be nice though.

    I reckon the best solution here to appease all would be to simply not show the "so and so has been killed" when respawning. It should only say this when a player is killed by another player, infected or other game related fatal occurrence.

    Happened to me too putting on the Camo. I fell through the floor of a building into water. Swam to the door way, suddenly teleported back into the room, and found that I had no bag, weapons, items or camo. (MassiveSadFace)

    lol, I started a thread very similar to yours 8 mins after you posted yours (not a copy, i was still writing by them :P) and found it funny we used the same speed comparison with Usain Bolt :D I added some additional suggestions in my post, but with no replies, and the recent discovery that zombies now run in houses and up the steep hills.. i guess its all just a moot point now.
  7. Hey all, I put in a real long shift in this over the weekend, and I can safely say I'm hooked. That said, there were a few occasions yesterday where I spawned into the game and found I'd instantly aggro's a zombie or two. Now normally this is a case of running up a steep hill, in a house (with two entrances), up some stairs or popping a few rounds off in their heads to remedy the situation. But one instance last night I aggro'd just after starting over. I had no weapons, no friends on the server, and in trying to find a building to "lose" them in just resulted in adding to the undead fan base I had. In the end I made a dash for the woods. To my annoyance I discovered I was in a relatively flat area with no real steep hills. I tried using the built up trees and dry-stone walls to break their stride but they simply 'glitched' through them. Well, over 15 mins later (no seriously) and about 15 miles covered I turned and faced my doom. Which came swiftly. What I would really like to see are one or more of the following (to add to the realism of this game/anti-game/social experiment etc): 1) stumbling zombies - Ok, so a sprinting screaming zombie is pretty damn scary, and I would definitely run away from these buggers. But to be honest, they're the undead/infected, surely their ability to run long distances would be slightly hindered? Can't there be a small % chance that your pursuer could stumble or trip, slowing them briefly and giving the player a chance to build some space between them and their pursuer? 2) de-aggro - I know this sounds weird but seriously, running for nearly 20 minutes straight, up and down hills, around walls, barns, buildings, trees.. surely, eventually, maybe, you know.. you might lose them? Especially if you're in the dead of night? 3) zombie speed - if either of the above were considered, I'd potentially ignore this point (although they could go well together), but until then; the zombies seem to have this insane speed when aggro'd sprinting 100 meter faster than usain bolt could ever dream to, but then oddly they can't quite make up that last 2-3 feet to get you while you run. How about you make their sprint a gradual thing? Allowing the player to get some distance and/or obstacles in between himself and the zombie(s)? And if out in the open with nothing to hide behind, well son, you're sh!t outta luck. 4) a basic melee - a punch/kick or shove to try and at least stun the zombie from eating you immediately. Nothing crazy, a 2 second stun that can only work on one zombie, with a 30 second cool down. To give us fleshies a fighting chance. I mean, if I were being chased, I wouldn't wait until I ran out of steam, I'd turn punch the undead fekker in the face and then peg it! :D I know Day Z is alpha, but it would be nice to see what other thought of the above.
  8. shit. just read that in the latest patch zombies now run up hills the player's can't as well as in buildings.. if that's the case I guess the above suggestions are going to be ignored. /close thread. :(
  9. God I'm anxious in this game. I've been running around for nearly 3 hours dodging psychotic players that shoot on sight and zombies that spawn in your face... My only defence so far has been running into the ocean and out swimming them. I can't get into towns due to the overwhelming number of zeds and snipers.. :( it's raining, I'm wet, tired, thirsty and hungry.. can't even take my own life lol

  11. I've currently got myself a hatchet I'm using for stealthy panic kills when a Zed jumps me. My question is, if I come across a rifle or shotgun, will I still be able to use/keep my hatchet? ok, so I've not found an M16(!!), I managed to keep the hatchet via putting it on my tool belt, but I can't seem to equip it without dropping my M16 :(

  13. and how long until a piece of loot will cycle? for example, I've been in game for a while now and found a hunter tower with a gun that I want my mate to have but he's far north east and its far south west. Will it disappear? Or if someone takes it, how long until something else spawns? thanks
  14. I saw a vid on youtube of a player putting their rifle in their Alice bag. I had 4 slots so tried to see if it would fit. It vanished from my gear screen and the ammo appeared in my bag. I can't see it on the floor.. :( is it gone? Also, can I stored my rifle in my alice bag or not? It would appear not. :(

  16. Hi guys, is there an easy way to trade with others? I tried several times to drop items for my mate, and they simply vanished. Also, not all items seem to go into the backpack. is there an easier way that I'm not privy to? cheers

  18. For example, I started off on recruit and found a load of bandages etc in a hunters thing in the woods, but later joined my mate on a veteran server, came across another hunter shack thing and there was an M16!

  20. Hi all, I'm new to the game (sorta) and I went on a server yesterday that displayed weird circular white(ish) auras around Zeds and players, which I could see through walls and other objects for a distance around me.. it was like a wall hack almost. Is this legit, and what causes it? cheers

    i see. so good for practising? ergo, I have a "real" survivor on a 'Hive' server, but don't want to permadeath exploring the bandit zones, so can do that on these servers without risk to losing my main survivors gear?
