I can understand that. Though, how am I to know if the guns some guy had were hacked in? Is it only the guns that are not supposed to be in the mod that will get you in trouble? I have killed a few people and looted them, if the guy hacked in a silenced mp5 and I take it will I get in trouble? It's a legit gun how would I know if he hacked it in? I understand not picking up guns that aren't in the game legit, but I'm going to be paranoid about looting anyone if there is a ban threat for picking up any "spawned in" gun as there is really no way to know.

Found one today after it had been used. Used explosives to breach the wall then blew up all the ammo caches in there and made big holes in the walls. Didn't know what it was for till I looked on the forums.

Found it at around 5-6pm Pacific US on the server listed above. There was no way in till we blew open the wall. It was a huge military camp with tents and boxes with 200+ of every item in the game. Also, lots of dead survivors with nothing on them but a ....horn... We took satchel charges from the boxes and blew up all the ammo dumps and ran. I'll try and get the screen shots my friends took and post them. We didn't run into the guys that spawned the stuff, so I don't know how much help that will be, but will link them anyway when I can.

Ah, thanks I guess I should have done a more thorough search. Well, they'll have to spawn a new one on that server to use it, we blew open the walls and all the gun crates.

Not if they are like my friend who plays as a woman and runs through towns yelling "Fresh fish! Gina fer sale." in a deep manly voice....

How cool would it be to go there for vacation and go camping? Would love to have a week or two to explore the area in real life. Though..... I might get overly paranoid and grab a hatchet, and a backpack full of beans/soda from the store and run into the woods....

Yeah I have had that happen to me a few times. Luckily my friends and I usually have at least 1-3 shots of morphine on us so it tends not to be a huge issue. You want to talk broken legs, run around with a double barrel shotgun and almost everyone you shoot will fall over with broken legs.

I generally stick to killing only those that are armed. However today, an unarmed survivor ran up to me, then frantically started looking for a weapon. I unloaded my double barrel into his legs, then finished him off. It only occurred to me moments later that I could have told him to just run away. I am just so used to being shot at that I didn't even think before I blasted him. I immediately felt like a douche-bag. I decided that from that point on I would not shoot anyone that was not armed. Not 3 minutes later did my friends and I get spotted by some guys who could have easily shot us all but didn't. We exchanged some "You don't shoot, we wont" shouts back and forth, and they let us leave. Down the road I ran into a red brick building and saw a survivor run in with at least 12 zeds on her. Still feeling like a jerk for the last guy I blasted, I told her to run while I killed them all. Hopefully I prolonged that players life a bit. I even felt like less of a jerk after that. After killing them all, I ran outside to meet a friend, and saw yet another unarmed survivor. I told my friend not to shoot, and we went around him. He then ran into the hut, came out with a .45 and started blasting at my friend. So, I leveled the guy with my shotgun and got a bandit kill... Got my friend up and healed him then we got out of dodge as we heard shots coming in close. Most likely the guys friends. So, now I am at am impasse. I don't want to shoot every guy I see if I don't have to, but who is to know who will stab you in the back for letting them live. Even after that I think I am going to leave unarmed people alone unless I recognize names as being guys I have seen shooting people/me. Guess I could start writing names down in a dayZ diary :P So, what do you guys do? Risk getting killed and try to be nice? Or just blast away? Both seem to have equal risks, but I am really starting to understand the kill on site players, and the wait and see players at the same time....

LMAO. My friends and I were in a bus today, we saved then picked up a guy. I told him to get out so I could heal him. I bandaged him, then started to blood bag him... My friend hopped out of the bus and shot him in the face... Granted, the guy was close to shore, had no gear, but I actually felt good for a second helping him... I bet he is hunting me now.... There goes my good karma... Ok, It was funny, but still, I felt good helping someone.. till my friend assassinated him anyway....

I know, I usually only try to kill out of survival or defense. Though I'll admit, don't sneak up on me when I have a gun in my hands, especially if you don't have a microphone and can't respond. Last week I turned around to see a guy aiming an AS50 at me from 5 feet away.... He fired right as I did. I can only assume he missed due to needing to catch his breath. Luckily I had been resting up. I think I am going to start playing by bandit rules even if it gets me killed. Offer a way out, and only shoot if needed. I might die more often but "eh" . That's why I like my shotgun, I cna break legs. Force them to give things up, then leave some morphine in their backpack.

Same here. Too bad I was slow on the draw against the last one I ran into. Whenever I hear jets, or see someone carpet bombing a town, it's time to leave.

I was wondering if that might be an issue as well. Guess I should look up all the guns/gear you can get legit on the wiki just in case

I agree. Though, it is handy when dealing with "scripters" who have invincibility on... as rare as that is. I ran into one, planted 4 m24 rounds in his head and chest......and ran away through a forest while being shot at by him and his LMG toting friend. They killed my 3 buddies but damned if I was going to die witht them.... I mean... I lived to help them get new gear... *cough*

Well, my second, maybe third survivor in Day Z was killed today after 29, almost 30 days of living, scavenging, and zombie killing... OK so maybe I killed 6 guys and wounded another 5 just to steal their food...... I would haven taken it better if I had not been killed by a "hacker/Script kiddie" *sigh* Luckily, it's just a game, and an alpha at that so the sadness passed quickly. I was looking forward to getting killed by another player who wasn't cheating and deserved to loot all my cans of baked beans....... I had a good run, only killed other players when I had to for the most part, had a lot of fun sneaking around and looting towns, or getting into firefights with people, or having those "Well, I have 3 buddies in the bushes!" moments where we both back away slow trying to figure out if the other one is a liar.... Even though I died to BS, I am looking forward to starting a new guy with a better understanding of the map, and weapons..... I just hope next time someone who deserves my well earned gear gets it..... I gotta say, even with the "scripters" this is the most fun, and intense game I have ever played.

He collapsed a building on me with a silenced AR....and didn't show up on thermal, or NV. He also took 1-2 stanag magazines to the chest while dancing in front of my bud after killing me.... Well, a guy who snuck up on me the other night didn't KoS me.. he tried to catch his breath first before shooting.. from 5 feet away. I turned around, saw him, he panic fired. He missed, I tagged him in the head. When I started, I would leave people alone unless they came after me, or knew I was there and out numbered and were obviously trying to flank me. By the time I started playing, everyone was already trying to be a bandit.. or, a sociopath.... I have yet to run into a friendly player. that wasn't in my friends vent channel.. I don't even trust some of them.....

I went prone in a lighthouse, broke my legs, bled to death. I'm happy that my next life lasted 29 almost 30 days though! *luck, and good friends go a long way*

THIS. I love hunting for choppers. Also, people with good gear tend to get bored and try to snipe players. Find em, kill em, get their stuff. For the record, no, I don't feel guilt when shooting a camping sniper in the back of the head with a .45. There are very few reasons a guy with an AS50 would be on the hill watching SB.....

Until tonight I have only run into a few harmless hackers and one pain in the arse. Most just gave themselves items, but could still be killed. Last week, My friends and I got in a sniper dual with a guy who just would not die. He took 4 m24 rounds from me, 3 as50 shots from one friend, and countless 249 rounds from a friend. He was bleeding like a stuck pig but just would not die. He killed all three of my friends and then I ran like a scared little girl through the woods. Then there was what happened tonight that I posted a page back... Sure I got mad at first but eh, it's an alpha, and it's fun to get stuff back. As I said earlier, if I'm going to do I'd prefer to die to a legit player who has earned the stuff in my pack. Oh well, not much I can do but start over.
