Current set up: AKM, M9-SD, m249 saw. Alice pack. I used to be overly careful and be overwatch for my team. After making it to 30 days then getting killed by a scripter I stopped being careful. Now I just grab whatever gun looks like fun to use, kill zombies, and hunt for loot. I only kill other players if I need to, and tend to avoid bigger towns. I mainly hunt for crashed choppers at night on low pop servers to reduce my risk of being teleported or thunderdomed. It doesn't always work out that way but "eh". I also like to hunt down player camps and find gear. I destroy tents only when they look like bait traps, or if there is a questionable amount of high end loot in them. I like to leave presents for fresh starts too. Sometimes when I raid a tent that has only low end loot and food, I'll leave them a gift as payment.

As it is though, 1-2 enfield shots can stop a car anyway depending on it's health. I just don't think the car should explode when that happens. AS far as vehicle health/armor goes that's a different matter. I'm just talking about them not exploding because the engine, or, god forbid, the TIRES get shot too much.

Leaving mini land mines for people to step in. Wonder when the new loot: Plastic baggy will be introduced so you can be a responsible dog owner and pick up after it....

I open my map and alt-tab out then back in. It works every time for me. It is an easy fix, but it's not when you're being chased by zombies, or in the middle of a fire fight. Hard to apply these fixes when you have to get up and run from a sniper, and the zombies that start chasing you as soon as you stand up.

I actually just started finding AK variants as of late. I think my current guy has an AKM and 9 magazines for it. Where as every time I tried to find one before I always found ARs and AS50's instead...

Happened to me last night. I lost everything, backpack etc. But I kept all my zombie kills, and my camo clothing. Just run along the beach till you find a dead fresh spawn and grab his pack and start over. Not much more you can do.

Tell that to Hollywood. This reminds me of a discussion friends and I had about Fallout 3, and getting good karma for killing people. I always thought you should never get good karma for murder, it just seemed... inappropriate... Who knows though, maybe killing that one bandit will save 10 peoples lives that day... *shrug*

This. I was killed by a hacker because he thought I was a hacker... Just because I had a silenced mp5, m24 , NVGs, range finder etc. Just because someone has a lot of good loot, does not make them a hacker. Some of us just know where to find stuff, and can keep a survivor alive for a week+. Sometimes it's all about luck as well. Finding a dead guy on the hills outside of Elektro has netted me some good stuff right after spawning on the beach. Not to mention the ability to run back to your corpse. As for using hacked in gear. Sometimes there is no way to tell if the item was scripted in. Some guy with "legit" gear AKM, 1911 etc, could have spawned it in. While some guy with an AS50 with a thermal scop could have just found it on a dead scripter. I tend to stay away from guns/gear that are not in the game legit. Sure, they say you wont get banned from the game for using them... but people might assume you're a hacker for carrying them around.

It's usually best not to climb up/down ladders when you have a red/yellow chain. Also, when you get stuck moving like that, just tap the movement keys (WASD) a few times till you get unstuck. I hear alt tabbing helps too. I have never had that happen to me, but I always wait for my red chains to go away before I start climbing anything. Same with vaulting or getting off of bikes.

I raided a tent city last night and grabbed a crap ton of NVGs and range finders. I can't use them all, and my friends have enough after raiding a similar tent city. I don't bother setting up tents due to thieves like myself, bugs, and scripters. I thought it would be fun to hand this stolen loot to new spawns on the beach. However, I don't want to get blasted by an enfield/makarov the second I run up to hand this gear out. What do you guys suggest? Just ditch it in deer stands? Drop it in commonly looted spots near the beach? Or set up a tent on the beach for the fresh spawners? Sure I could have left them for people to find, but I like stealing stuff from dupers....even though they can replace it.... Though, thanks for leaving me those grenades to pop your tents! Anyway, question stands. Safest way to get this crap to some new starters that need it? My attempts at bartering usually just get me shot.

I normally destroy them. I guess I just have a soft spot for kids/newbs. I never hand out guns, (anymore) it ALWAYS backfires on me. I gotta admit... you have a damned valid point... But is dropping some NVGs on the road from/out of Cherno so bad?... Crap, have I just been spamming high end gear to KoS kids? Kinda feel like an idiot for trying to help people now... *sigh* I guess the road to hell really is paved with good intentions....

The only reason I am able to play is because I had friends who gifted me the OA bundle on steam. The ironic part is, they all recently quit due to scripters but I keep plugging along.

I know right, they exploit and keep it to themselves, I steal it and hand it to some guys on the beach who wont last through the day anyway! Maybe I should just shoot unarmed guys instead of helping them wtf is my problem?!

You sir, are full of logic, and win. I think I'll toss the extras in the woods next time I log in. It's funny, I avoid camps near the beach even though I am a kleptomaniac when it comes to duper camps. I normally just ditch peoples gear in the woods near, or 1-3 miles from camp depending on how much space I have in my pack. I was just thinking lately since so many people have been being killed by scripters, tossing out some stolen duped gear to help the other poor SOB's .... might be a karma builder..... Ok, I admit, I sometimes feel bad for killing guys that have nothing I need and try to help em out after the fact.... Though, I do not kill the unarmed anymore. Unless they get close enough to loot my pack after being told to back up a time or two..... Still have a plus humanity trying to keep it that way W/O exploits. Wish you got humanity for tossin an unarmed guy a 1911 and 5 mags. Left a few on the coast lately only to run from the guy who picked em up. Sure I coulda shot em with my DMR, but.... he blew through three mags trying to kill me from 5 feet away.... maybe I should have left more magazines....

Might as well. My record life was 30 days, with all the scripters these days it seems silly to try and live that long again. Might as well share the wealth with the other poor sods on the beach.

After having my legs broken, then fixed by a buddy, my character kept moaning that for an hour till I logged out then back in a while back. Whilst hilarious, I think it got me killed while running around stary sabor a month back or so.

Most people like to use the as50 to camp/snipe high pop areas. It's technically a legit way to play, but there is no reason to do it other than to kill fresh spawns, or those that do that sort of thing. If you use it and don't dupe ammo, no one should give two shits. Though, I do feel that using a 1 hit kill rifle feels cheap, but that might stem from playing a lot of FPS games over the years and preferring guns that take more skill to use. Getting a kill from shooting a guy in the toes has never felt ... well... legit to me. I tend to pass up as50's for DMR's and or m24's just mecause the as50 feels like cheating to me. Please keeep in mind, that is personal opinion, I don't judge you for using it, I just like to challenge myself. I get no satisfaction from a kill if the guy hit me 4 times with an ak74su, but i got a lucky shot with an as50...

Last time I tried to hand out gear on the coast I got called a hacker, and or they dropped when they saw me walking up. Guess I'll just leave it in markets like you suggested.

100% agree. I think they are OP, but only due to duping. If that were to be fixed, I think you'd hear a lot less of them around the hills of Cherno/Elektro.

I get this randomly. My friends seem to think it's hilarious but it does give away my location. For some unknown reason *to me* my guy who has full blood, and is well fed etc, just moans in pain till I log out then back in. Seems to be random on my end. It even happens when I start a new guy on the beach. Funny part is on vetran servers it makes it easier for my friends to spot me....

This. I shot a *sniper* 4 times with an m24 on my 27 day survivor *he started it* his buddy then walked into the forest and lit my squad up through the trees with an m249. Three of my buddies died from one burst of his lmg despite being up to 100 yards apart from each other. The sniper I shot also took 3 as50 rounds, and 8 DMR rounds and was still kicking when I ran into the woods to escape. Out of the 5 of us me and one other guys lived. I ran. My last squad mate shot the guy with the m249 3 times in the head, then ran. No ALT+f4, I just ran like a scared little girl. Sadly, I died to a hacker on day 30. My record to this day.... Not bragging, just wish there were less scripters so I had a slight chance of reaching day 31 some day.... Edit: Not bitching, just commiserating.

As with all hacked in gear, I believe you are free to use it. Just don't be surprised when you get labeled a hacker when you use it. Some guy friended me on DayZ commander and stalked me on a few servers because he thought I was a hacker for having an AS50 thermal I found on a corpse on the beach. (For the record, I felt like a jerk after killing someone with it and dropped it for an AKM I found at NWAF) Using hacked in gear should be frowned upon, because if legit players use them, it gets harder to narrow down guys who script it in. Sad part is, scripters don't always spawn in illegal gear, so it'd be hard to enforce that when some poor slob picks up a hacked in legit gun... Damn those catch 22s

I was just having a discussion about bears being in the game with some friends. Can you imagine checking a tent you stumble upon, and as you crack open that stolen soda you turn to see a bear barreling down on you. Looking forward to packs of wild dogs, and or zombies in the woods. So far all I have seen in the woods are Wookies with guns.

I love playing at night. Seems to be a bit more scary when you can't see 3 miles away. Just tonight I was running around looking for downed choppers when I spotted a camp fire in the woods not 50 yards away. Lacking NVGs I ran for the hills before I got Deliveranced......
