You have to have a large enough bag with enough room (10 spaces for a primary weapon). If you try to put a weapon to the bag and don't have enough room, it will just disappear.

right click or press 0 (Ins) on your numpad. Those are the defaults to look through scope or iron sights.

If it's the kind of axe that's stuck to a tree stump, you cannot use it. It's just scenery. You need to find one with a red blade and on the floor somewhere.

This one time I found a working tractor with lots of supplies inside. No one was around so I thought finders keepers and proceeded to drive around in circles mowing down zeds on some field until I ran out of gas. Zed loot filled my backpack with food. A moment of happiness in this dark and horrifying game.

Also check if you have like flares or a grenade or other throwables selected as the weapon. It confused me once when I couldn't look through the scope even though I still had the rifle in hand.

Using the in-game map is actually a bit unrealistic and stupid, I think. You can't look around while looking at the map, instead you have to switch back and forth between the map and the view around you, leaving you helpless while looking at the map. As if the map would be the only thing you can see in real life. And besides, you can't zoom in real maps. I don't use interactive maps or any fancy stuff like that either, I just have a picture of the Chernarus map where I've drawn the locations of deer stands which I frequent.

I like to live in the woods between Zub castle and Pogorevka. Zub is easy to raid, has lots of useful stuff and I've rarely seen anyone there, and there are two deer stands just east of Pogorevka. Also it's not too far away from Stary Sobor if I feel the need to try get some good stuff from there.

I do. None of my close friends play DayZ and I'm just too paranoid to go with strangers. Maybe if I could find a good friend to play with I might try it but otherwise I like being a loner. More freedom to do what I want and easier to stay hidden.

Hi, I started playing some time ago. In-game name same as this. Still learning. I want to say I'm sorry to the guy on Norway 5 I just now tried to kill at the Msta barn. Just got scared because I had just finally found some useful stuff so I emptied my makarov at him. I didn't check to see if he was actually dead, so he killed me. I hope he was a bandit : ) I'm trying to be friendly though.
