DayZ Christmas/New Years sale on the horizon?
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Okay... None of you answered my question about Christmas speculation. I thought I made it clear in my original post that I don't feel entitled to a lower pricing, but I guess the recent trend of whiners has caught on so much that any notion of batting away this sickening mentality is futile. Since no mention of a Christmas sale has been announced, I guess I'll just wait until tomorrow to see what games Steam will announce on sale (The Christmas sale starts tomorrow). It'll be bought either way I guess. ._. -
DayZ Christmas/New Years sale on the horizon?
[email protected] posted a topic in General Discussion
Like everyone else, I was mildly surprised by the price of $30. I wasn't expecting it dirt cheap given the quality of the game, but I would prefer something cheaper for my own needs. Does it seem likely that this game will go on sale for the holidays? It may be a long shot since it just came out, but I want some honest input from you guys: Buy it now without a doubt of future regrets or wait it out? -
In a bit of a predicament right now due to some buggy doors on DayZ Origin's part. Any help or advice is appreciated. If you look at 111, 157, there's a military barrack. At the very back, there are closed doors that don't open like the airfield ones do. However, you can walk straight though like most of the glitchy closed doors in DayZ Origins. Particularly, with the military barracks. http://dayzdb.com/ma...viana#7.111.157 Now, I walked through no problem (well, ran), and I can't seem to get out of the room. There are windows behind me and only one entrance. I tried to run through the door again, step over (you can't vault in this server that I'm on in DayZ Origins), walk, prone, shoot, and even flare the door. The flare passed right through the door as if it were transparent btw. My group is currently raiding the airfield north of there in an attempt to find satchel charges or anything with explosive potential to blow up the building so that I can escape. If that's unsuccessful, they're going to loot me and kill me(whichever comes first if the military area is too crowded) so that I can respawn in Kameni. Does ANYONE know how to exit such a door? Perhaps it is due to the size of my character and the door's frame, but I simply can not go through no matter how much I try to jam myself through.

So I just recently updated my GeForce GTX 660 driver after this happened, but I have been suffering lag spikes recently. Whenever I scope in with my binoculars/rangefinder/sniper-level-zoom assault rifle, I start getting lag spikes that go away in half a minute. Sometimes, it ends up with me receiving a message saying, "You were kicked off the game.", other times, the game crashes. I sometimes get lucky and make it out alive. Just recently, I tried running around scoping in to zombies for some quick kills, but I kept getting lag spikes. After getting 2 in a row, I got blue-screened, and had to restart my computer. I believe it may have been because I set my graphics setting for terrain and object detail to very high, which evidently is too much for me to handle. I now put it on low/normal, but I still get lag spikes. I have no got on the game since I updated my drivers however. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Advice? How to fix this? Any more specs I need to post up besides my graphics card? I have all settings on low/disabled btw.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! Now I'm not sure what the crowbar is meant for anymore if it's been stripped of its attachment capability... It's just a nerfed hatchet at this rate. Uhh... No... I do want to attach it as I implied in my original post.... And no, that's not how "Arma" works, since crowbar attachments existed well after the early alpha days.

Hey everyone, I am not really new to the game, but after returning from an academic hiatus, I can't quite figure out how to attach my crowbar to my gun. Before whatever patch it was that changed this, I could just look at a crowbar on the floor, scroll and click "get crowbar", then attach it to my weapon so I can scroll to the crowbar if needed. As of right now, my crowbar is sitting in my tools inventory. For those of you who are just going to rain on the crowbar in this thread, please take your negativity elsewhere. The crowbar is a fine backup if you get caught mid-reload by a zombie in close proximity or if you want to deal a finishing blow after dumping a load of bullets on a zed. Thanks to all who contribute constructively!

[TOOL] Traveler's Guide/Language Dictionary

OKAY, the point you guys are trying to make is clear to me. I understand now why a direct translator would be unfavorable. What if the booklet in question was simply a guide to help you learn the language rather than directly translate? Sort of like a directory of foreign letters and their translations. -

We're ALL going to be new players once the standalone maps(with new road signs I assume for new towns and perhaps a redesign for current ones) come out. Furthermore, new maps utilizing signs written in Cryllic can still come out. I think getting this into DayZ MOD would better familiarize us to the whole process in standalone, if and when this is considered to be a new tool. Thanks, but telling everyone(the many thousands of players) to learn Cryllic instead of simply providing an in-game tool to read Cryllic is a tad bit... Ridiculous. I would LOVE to learn Cryllic if I weren't busy trying to learn Java and my own language classes at school. Not many people have as much time as you do. :( Thank you though, seriously. I may look into this in the future. You see, like I told Spentmind, your familiarity with this classic map won't be relevant in the future. Don't become too accustomed to the way you play now... (@bottom paragraph) Wow, that's not what I had in mind, but it sounds great! Some tip-offs to players would be awesome. Maybe if they came along with maps in the form of written notes, that would be great too. So many vehicle opportunities have gone to waste simply due to a lack of awareness. :/ -

Most DayZ maps aren't based in English-speaking cities EVEN THOUGH the majority of players speak English. irl, if you come across a road sign, you might want to read it to figure out where you are. However, if it's of a different language, maybe you're carrying a book that translates these words or you have someone in your party that speaks Russian/whatever. What if a new tool was introduced that lets your character read signs of a foreign language? Of course, there needs to be an option for WHAT language you want to translate the sign to, but that can be easily done with an options setting to default English as your character's fluent language. Half the time, I see all these signs that point to cities/towns I can't decipher. Would be nice if we had more of a language interpretation dynamic to DayZ. I previously had a Russian-speaking teammate in my party, and he was REALLY helpful when first starting out. He could read the Cryllic characters well enough to understand what the sign was talking about. i.e. We were on the road to Stary, but we weren't sure if we were near Mogi or some other town, and a sign just so happened to point in the direction of a nearby town. -

At one point, I had a Mk.48 MOD 0 and M107 in my backpack with a FN FAL AN/PVS-4 as my primary and PDW as my secondary. I actually STILL have this setup if it weren't for the fact the server with my tent didn't lock itself up due to something with the 1.7.2.6 servers not working with 1.7.3 out. -
This server is running an incorrect version of the server side application.

This was a post recently made by DayZ UFP(US 1024), which is running 1.7.2.6. Can we assume that this fix for them will fix everyone's issues? DayZ UFP FB Page: Finally we got a mail about why our server was not working. And we the DayZ UFP Team want to share the email with you guys and girls so you can see for yourself what the problem was. "Hello Towbie As i am sure you are all aware for the past few days our DayZ Package Service has been down due to unfortunate circumstances which were out of our control. Our hive which has been up 100% since it wa s put online was subjected to a major hack since the latest update. We use the BLISS hive system in a mass format and unfortunately the BLISS hive in it's latest release has some major vulnerabilities of which we have reported them to BLISS directly. We are fully aware of how the hackers were able to subject the database to mass scale data injection however we are unable to modify the data to correct the issue. Over the next 24/48 hours we are going to release a major security release which will hopefully correct and stop this issue from occurring in the future. We have reset the database of which thi s has reset all data on the servers, we found that this was the best way to correct the issue and get the services back online without any prior issues. If you have any further questions please let us know." -DayZ UFP Team
