  1. Haha, I was joking man. With everything going on can't blame you for not picking up sarcasm over the internet ;)
  2. You obviously just enabled VAC to save your face. Has it been enabled since the launch or was it added with the latest patch that fixed security vulnerabilities btw?
  3. Guys, let's not get this thread locked...
  4. I think the main issue people are worried about is whether the new client/server architecture actually works. It was not one of the, but THE selling point of DayZ standalone. Clients were supposed to be unable to spawn in items. I don't care about wallhacks one bit, just looking at the bigger picture here. Hopefully we hear something from Dean about this soon.
  5. It's not anymore, keep THAT in mind. I'll give you a hint. Standalone Why the hell would anyone want a custom loadout at this stage of the game is beyond me. It just shows how messed up the game will instantly become when private hives do happen.
  6. Aimbot and radar hacks were always going to happen. I'm yet to see a proof of this, but VAC disabled or not, something isn't right IF clients are allowed to spawn in items or teleport other players. It simply shouldn't happen.
  7. Does it really matter? It still wasn't even a game. There was barely anything you could do at release. It was more like a tech demo really. As long as they're honest about what I'm buying into, I don't see the problem with them charging $30. I wouldn't have bought it for $50 but then again, that's my personal choice. All things considered, they would have to be stupid to give it away too cheap right now.
  8. Post a link. I have never seen him saying full game will be 10-15$. He could never have done it without ARMA. Please do list all those game you can mod to achieve what DayZ has achieved. Do you honestly think DayZ on a, say, war inc engine would have been much better even with rocket in charge? The game certainly is alpha. There are games such as Dead Linger that could hardly even call a game when it came out. Still didn't stop it from being an alpha or costing quite a bit of money. Personally, I thought SA was overpriced by 5-10$, nothing more nothing less than that.
  9. Where are you getting those numbers from? That "crappy" military simulator made all this possible btw.
  10. It says "early access" right next to "buy ti now". And the link takes you to a page that says this in caps: If that's not enough of a warning, I don't know what is.
  11. wtf, should they have put "don't buy it now" on the link on the official site, for people who... want to buy it? That's ridiculous.
  12. This was always going to happen. For over a year now, the main topic of discussion about standalone has been "why is not out yet??". I'm probably not even exaggerating saying there's been at least one multi page topic per week with people accusing rocket and bohemia of all sort of things like deliberately delaying the release of the game to make more money and what not. They would simply refuse to believe the game wasn't ready even in it's basic form. And now that we have a functioning game, certainly lacking in features and unfinished, but with a solid foundation, people are complaining about why it has been released. Not only they did tell us the state of the game before we bought it, they also sad not to buy it if we can't handle it (seriously how many devs do exactly that?). Moral of the story is, you can never please everyone no matter what you do. The funny thing is that there are many people who both criticized the game not coming out and are now doing the same about the game being released. Personally, I have no problem with the state of the game considering how it was presented to me before I bought it. I did expect it to be closer to $20 but I still bought it and that's my choice.
  13. So have you done any testing? Because now having played it, it looks the same to me.
  14. The game was always going to be released as paid alpha, it has been known since day one. Why does this come as a surprise to anyone, I don't know. Are you also not the same guy who started a thread about SA being over a year too late? Basically, you want a fully finished game with massive changes developed in... no time. Wat?
  15. Some sort of basic UI is needed. I actually feel more "disconnected" from my character getting spammed by "you feel thirsty" messages as opposed to seeing a drink meter which roughly shows how thirsty I am. Good thing rocket has identified this as a problem.
  16. It won't be back to normal in that they'll change it to how it was in the mod though. The system doesn't work as intended at the moment, It will be changed, tweaked, maybe completely rewritten but they won't just give up on it on the second day of alpha. Yeah, that sounds like the most logical solution if loot scarcity turns out to be a problem even after adjusting server restart spawn rates. I'd really like it if they could somehow make it work with no loot respawning at all. It would force people to check all areas on the map instead of just running to towns with best loot in the same buildings every time.
  17. Let's be honest. The mod was a bit of a joke when it came to loot and surviving. It was never a matter of searching for food or drink, you just had to go to a nearest place to pick it up because it would be there every single time. THAT is a broken system for a game that is supposed to be about survival and scavenging in a post apocalypse world. They are obviously trying something new and if it doesn't work out, it will be changed, as simple as that. While I'm sure they appreciate constructive criticism, there is no point in crying about a "broken system" that we haven't even tried yet.
  18. I agree with most of that. Also, client FPS could be better. Hopefully they manage to optimize it to run quite a bit better. I guess the good thing is that they haven't worked on that much so far so there is room for improvement. To be honest, I expected a crash fest on release day but haven't had the game to lock up or crash even once. So yeah, that's good. There are bugs for sure, such as loot disappearing into ground right in front of me. There's probably more loot around than there appears to be due to glitches like these but that kind of stuff will get ironed out with time for sure.

battered to death on the beach

    Pics or didn't happen.
  20. Interesting. Mine is still downloading so I haven't played yet but it makes zero sense for them to shrink the map. Just can't think of anything they could possibly gain from doing that. I've always thought characters run faster in standalone videos but apparently that's not the case either.

    a friend in need

Nice story. Needs more dragons though.
  22. Did rocket just say he uses a coin for running long distances but they won't be putting an auto run button in the game because... people will use it? Haha.
