  1. The whole "this is what it would be like in real life" thing is pretty silly, if for nothing else but the fact that the worst thing that can happen to you in this game is losing your items and you're respawned back on the coast a few seconds later. Imagine a hypothetical scenario where you only have one life in the game, you can't even rebuy it. Once you die, that's it, you don't get to play anymore. Would there be anywhere near as many people simply going around shooting everyone they see? Absolutely not. The way people play would change completely. And now compare that to risking getting killed in real life. Without any artificial disincentive for murder the game will never simulate what would happen in a similar real life scenario. Not even close.
  2. Even if it's an alpha and things will more likely than not get lost due to a bug, small stashes would be cool. At least until they decide what they want to do with base building in the future.
  3. I take it you'd be fine with having to sleep 8 hours a day in game too? It's a game, we don't play it 24 hours a day. I'd be OK with slightly faster clock so that not every server ends up with 24/7 daylight but that's about it.
  4. You or me don't, but the devs do. if they remove all weapons from the game, people will not be shooting each other anymore, if they give us a laser gun to start with.... You see where I'm going with this. PvP in general is good for the game. That's not at all what this thread is about though.
  5. It's not that I disagree with you but this "game with no choice" thing has to stop. By that logic every village should have military loot, you can always choose not to go there and live in the wilderness. Like I said, I fully expect things to change when anti server hopping features are implemented and when there's a variety of weapons in the game as opposed to a bunch of M4s. It doesn't mean the devs shouldn't keep in mind the fact that Balota, one of the common spawns is currently a huge PvP hotspot. Why that is not good for the game should be pretty clear, even to those who just play for PvP and KoS.
  6. That, or any suggestion involving changes to PvP dynamics is usually "taking away choices" or "changing the game to how you like to play".
  7. There should not be many weapons lying around in places where people spawn, as simple as that. It does nothing but enocurage not only PvP, which by itself is not a problem, but mindless deathmatching on the coast. I do find it strange they put in so many military loot spawns in there but I guess those can be altered and once there are anti server hopping measures in place and there is more variety in weapon choices it won't be as much of a problem.
  8. Because real life resolution/fov of our eyes is much bigger than that of a computer monitor.
  9. Considering VAC bans are not instantaneous, it's a bit early to call anti hack a "failure", isn't it? Getting rid of hackers completely was never going to happen so we'll have to wait and see what happens.
  10. Ah yes, this argument again. This is not an ARMA mod anymore, there is no reason to let people turn this game into something entirely different. Sometimes I wonder why they even bother when the moment they allow modding most of the new ideas such as different blood types will be disabled anyway.
  11. Yep. It WILL be like the mod all over again. I'm guessing by the time full game is released, it will already be hard to find a vanilla server.
  12. I really don't think it does. They would have to be foolish not to take it seriously. If you take a quick look at popular hacking sites you'll see the very first patch disabled lots of hacks and those still aren't possible as of now. I think it's important to not spread panic because hackers are definitely not "all over the place", at least not just now. People shouldn't assume it was hackers that killed them whenever they die.
  13. It was the oversimplified humanity system that was flawed in the mod, not the skins. I agree there absolutely needs to be some sort of system in place making it possible to tell whether a player is a serial murderer. It doesn't have to be a skin. Small visual clues that you can notice up close would be enough.
  14. Yeah, it's basically one huge tent, put in a high traffic area. I think you can see where things go wrong from there :) It would be a cool addition to the game but wouldn't really serve as a "base". That kind of base building would only work on a HUGE, procedurally generated world I think.
  15. In reality, you would never put anything of any value in there because someone would break in in a matter of minutes/hours. As good as it sounds, that kind of base building is never going to work imo.
  16. Not bothered about the dick move by itself. But next time not only will that guy not be nice enough to give his stuff, he will also realize to survive he's better off trying to chop you with his axe before you do the same to him. Not too long before all new players turn into assholes. Well done :emptycan:
  17. Multiple characters on the main hive would be a very bad idea. If you thought server hopping and loot farming exploits were hard enough to stop as it is, try it with multiple characters. Not only that, but what would stop anyone from positioning all their characters to multiple sniping spots and then just switching to one they like. It doesn't matter even if they die, they just log with another character and kill the guy looting their body.
  18. At the moment I'd say fairly poor FPS compared to the mod and the clunkiness of picking up loot. The vicinity thing seems random at times and picking items up is very fiddly most of the time.
  19. I don't have a face though :o Just took a quick look at one of those sites and that little steam store change seems to have caused a bit of panic. Good.
