BREAKING NEWS: loot spawn on restart is intentional!
brzator47@gmail.com replied to DropBearChick's topic in General Discussion
He means loot not respawning is not a bug, it's intended. The system will be improved later but won't be like it was in the mod where loot always spawned when client enters the area. -
BREAKING NEWS: loot spawn on restart is intentional!
brzator47@gmail.com replied to DropBearChick's topic in General Discussion
Apparently most people server hop until this gets "fixed". -
Do you ever server hop?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Personally, one of the worst things about the mod was guaranteed loot. It didn't matter if the whole area was picked clean minutes ago, the loot would still appear out of thin air just because you entered that area. This meant people would never bother visiting more than a few locations because smaller villages were pointless and 95% of the map was unused. Now we have these new lovely enterable buildings and a reason to explore the map and yet people still play the game the same way as the mod. "Oh, I ran from the coast straight to NWAF, I should get what I came for". Well, no you shouldn't. Even when they do implement loot respawning it will be server controlled instead of being triggered by a client entering the area. Meaning you could still walk to X and find nothing because someone was there recently. People will of course still server hop then finding another excuse to justify it. -
when will base building start in the SA ?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to dgeesio's topic in General Discussion
Tents are all that is ever needed as far as "bases" go IMO. I'd like to see something similar to ammo crates in DayZero. Not a lot of storage space but easier to hide than tents. I'm still unsure whether or not it should despawn on owner's death though. -
Do you ever server hop?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yes they are. There will be changes to the loot spawn system but it will be in the spirit of the SA system, not the one in the mod. Rocket has confirmed this himself. It's pretty disappointing how many people play this game as a shopping simulator expecting to be rewarded with gear just because they walked 10 minutes to get there :/ -

Proper loot spawn as in loot magically spawning like in the mod? The results of this poll are just sad. -

B is kinda the point of the game and the reason why they're experimenting with no loot respawn system in the first place. Is the game only fun with guaranteed loot at the same location every time?- 57 replies

Why aren't PvE servers allowed?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to elf cakes's topic in General Discussion
As far as I'm concerned, PvE servers would be pretty pointless because the game would get boring extremely fast. And as this is not an ARMA mod anymore, there is no reason why should people have the choice to do whatever they want with the game. What is funny though, is that many people who are strongly opposed to the idea of PvE servers because "it's not how it was meant to be played" would have no problem joining a 100000 vehicles|1000 choppers|extra barracks & military loot| starting loadout| kind of servers when modding and private hives become available. -
TV says 'unsupported' when I play.
brzator47@gmail.com replied to MattyBoJangles's topic in Troubleshooting
Sounds like a resolution/refresh rate issue. TV is also pretty shit for computer use as many don't support 4:4:4 chroma and most have siginificant input lag and of course, inferior IQ overall. -
*Long Post* The Intuition System and how it can work within DayZSA (Read before flaming)
brzator47@gmail.com replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
Not bad, although I don't believe there is anything wrong with visual clues in the first place. Being able to tell a person is a murderer isn't really any less realistic than 99% of the people playing like psychopath killers with no consequences. The worst possible thing that can happen is they die - and respawn on the beach a few seconds later. A system similar to the mod, only a bit more subtle would be just fine. -
I like how many of these posts start with an "I know it's alpha" and then proceed treating it as a finished game. Being an alpha does not only mean the game will not be 100%. It also means stuff will be completely broken from time to time. Just play something else until it gets fixed. In the same way you wouldn't use an alpha build of an operating system on your PC or your phone as a daily driver, you can't expect the game to work, or even be playable at all times during this stage.

I don't get it why would he combat log there. Some people just have no imagination and wouldn't know fun if it slapped them in the face.

Does the standalone run better than the arma?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to khodan's topic in General Discussion
The mod still runs noticeably better for me at similar video settings. -
I think the map is too small for cars. Am I the only one
brzator47@gmail.com replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I agree actually. I think they're only needed as "end game" content. Personally, I'd be fine without any choppers, especially if they're as OP as they are in the mod. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
The map is indeed too small for a "realistic" amount of cars, this is why they should be pretty rare. Also, there should be no more than 1 chopper on the map. -
How to authentically strike the right balance of PvP in DayZ SA.
brzator47@gmail.com replied to Zeds_Undead_baby's topic in General Discussion
People already see skins as "punishment for banditry", even though heroes get a different skin as well. It will be the same with whatever you do to reward survival. People also say they don't want any playstyle to be favoured in the game but don't realize that already is the case with current gameplay mechanics. Some sort of humanity system that is an improvement over the mod is a must imo. -
No. What? Zoom doesn't render binocs and scopes obsolete at all. The fact is, the size and resolution of a, say, man at 300m is nowhere even close to enough in zoomed out view compared to real life vision. If anything, removing the zoom because there are no complaints about distance related detail in other games would be a "lame excuse" to not try get it right.
-
People need to stop thinking about it as a "zoomed in" view. It's the zoomed out view that is there as a compromise because playing with the normal zoom on a computer monitor would be impossible.

Without a bit of both #2 and #3, DayZ is never going to be much more than just a shooter on a big map. -

Just wanted to take a stab at clarifying KOS misconceptions
brzator47@gmail.com replied to fathairybeast's topic in General Discussion
It probably wouldn't, yeah, but it would still change the way you play drastically because the real goal would be to survive. You certainly wouldn't run around actively seeking out gunfights for the sake of it. You wouldn't climb on top of a building sniping strangers just because you can. You wouldn't waste your ammo, and more importantly be willing to reveal your position alerting everyone in a x meter radius by shooting that guy on the coast with nothing on him. Basically, it would cut out the "KoS for the lulz" almost completely. It still wouldn't encourage much cooperation/teaming up but it would be a much more accurate representation of "what would happen in real life". -
Removing chat function sucks for deaff players
brzator47@gmail.com replied to redfirm's topic in General Discussion
Nothing insensitive about pointing out the importance of sound in a game like this imo. Either way, global chat is not the way to go at all. People without hearing disabilities do not have an in game way to communicate with others on the map and have to rely on external software as well. I realize voice communication via, say, Skype is much easier but that is always going to be the case vs typing. -
game needs a patch with something to do
brzator47@gmail.com replied to dgeesio's topic in General Discussion
I don't see how would adding bicycles give us more to do. You'd just get bored faster. Personally, I only play from time to time because getting bored is inevitable with the state the game is in right now. Adding stuff just for the sake of it is the last thing they should be doing. -
Well, that's 3 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Pretty crappy even for what it's supposed to be. Try again... or don't.
