  1. "Wasting your time" by playing legit. Because doing anything other than running around with a gun looking for fight is a waste of time. Sadly many players do share this view. Run n gun kiddies and all yeah, but it probably does say something about the game as well.
  2. On empty servers maybe. I like how they "solved" the issue of placing tents by not letting us place the tent where we want but rather the game doing it for us instead.
  3. It's very possible. In the mod your tent was never even close to safe even if you pitched it in the middle of nowhere inside a tree. Considering they're huge and you can't put them exactly where you want, you'll be able to spot these tents from such distance that they'll be useless even before vehicles and choppers are implemented.
  4. I'm not sure I follow... For the exact reason this is a standalone game you would expect new features to be an improvement over what they were like in the mod where the devs were very limited to what they could and could not do. It looks like these tents have been put in the game for the hell of it rather than thinking things through.
  5. Well good luck with that. In the mod even with a far less busy map, hiding a much smaller camo tent was extremely hard. There's no way this tent will last you more than a day or two, unless you manage to put it in a rock or an unenterable building or something. Yet another new feature that the mod already did better 2 years ago, sigh.
  6. Seems way too big to be useful. Hiding it will only be possible through a glitch or something.
  7. For those wondering what the "big deal" is, it's a feature that doesn't belong in this game. It's really as simple as that. It doesn't make the game better for anyone, new players included.
  8. By saying this, you're totally underrrating what persistent storage brought to the gameplay in the mod. There's a lot more to it than just people running back to their tent for moar PvP. Epoch was doing it wrong I agree, but not the vanilla mod. It's similar to how making a good survival game is not as simple as making food and weapons rare.
  9. Only because currently gear=life in this game. Which, unlike persistent storage, is one of main things wrong with it.
  10. The thing is, the average character life in this game is pretty short. Sure, you can hide in the woods and avoid contact with other players but most players don't. Keeping that in mind, storage would be almost pointless for most people if it did not persist beyond death. Like I said, not everyone uses persistent storage to hoard guns for endless deathmatching.
  11. Nope, definitely not. There seem to be a lot of suggestions what should be done with tents but bugs aside, they were pretty much perfect in the mod IMO. Yes, people could hoard gear and guns but you could find such big camps pretty easily and destroy them with nothing but a hatchet. Being able to access your tent after dying is not a problem. Some would argue it promotes KoS and deathmatching but I actually think it has the opposite effect overall. Lots of people will change the way they play once they're able to "safely" store the useless junk they find.
  12. The SA not being a finished game is a fair point. However even at the time the mod came out, it was still better than the SA is right now. New inventory aside, I can't think of many improvements over the mod that are actually important for the gameplay and this is where the game fails for me. I feel the devs have put in a lot of work on things that don't really matter that much. At least not for what made DayZ DayZ.
  13. As long as tents can be raided by other players, this is a non issue. It was fine in the mod, it should be fine in the standalone too.
  14. Did anybody really buy this game to save money in the long run? I bought it on the first day to see what it's like and to support the development but every time a company says the price will only go up I never actually expect it to happen. It's BS but it's also really only 3-4 bucks and I'm a BI fanboy so I can't say I care much.
  15. For me, the standalone has failed to recapture that feel of the original mod. As cool as the new stuff is, the game doesn't feel "right". It simply doesn't improve in the areas that made DayZ, DayZ. In fact, I would say it's considerably far behind.
  16. Modding will come too soon and will slowly but surely ruin the game. Even by the time it comes, the game will not be as feature complete as the mod was meaning it will turn into something even closer to a generic shooter compared to what happened to the mod. I always knew it would happen but it's disapponting to see Dean talking about modding being some kind of priority this early in the development.
  17. What the hell are you talking about? Zombies were never "fixed". They weren't meant to be completely and utterly useless.

    Tell us why we died

Are you seriously suggesting this should be implemented because in real life you know how you died? It would be completely unneccessary imo and wouldn't help the hackers/cheaters situation one bit.
  19. You guys sound like a tough bunch of fellas. I hope I don't run into you and your serverhopping buddies. Worthless thread. No one gives a shit if you're a bandit. If/when private servers come, it won't be because people go around shooting everyone.
  20. Personally, I think the whole homesick thing is BS. There has to be more to it we don't know yet. Either way, Dean leaving before this game is even finished is ridiculous no matter what spin people try to put on it. How will it affect the development, I don't really know. What I do know, for everyone concerned about DayZ turning into CoD now, there's probably more chance of that happening with Dean at the helm than it is going to be with Bohemia.
  21. There is no way in hell this game will be feature complete, or anything close to it by the end of the year. And Dean not sticking around until it is is extremely disappointing to be honest. Then again, I agree with this 100%. As much as I love his original idea, it's like he has no idea whatsoever where to go with this game. For bases alone he wants tents, underground bases, barricaded buildings, Dead Linger style construction system (??!) and much more even though it's realistically unachievable. Who knows, maybe it turns out to be a good thing for the game although I doubt it myself.
  22. A server hopper complaining about unfair exploits?

    1.5 million

That's a lot of alpha testers.
  24. Because the game is already so light on survival it's ridiculous?
  25. I'm the guy telling you any thread related to frankie and hacks will get locked.
