    Yep. We actually need a separate key for each leg, it would be more realistic. Oh and also an eye blinking key as well. How in the world is this thread 27 pages long...

  3. I can't for the life of me figure out what they're trying to do with these tents to be honest. They almost don't even make sense as placeholder items. It's only the people who have never played the mod who think these tents are going to be of any use if you want to hide anything. Empty servers are going to be the only way which is BS. It seems the devs have always considered the north to be "wasted space" and got a bit carried away copy pasting buildings/towns.
  4. Also, searching 100 nearly identical rooms to find an item can get really tedious vs searching 10 rooms to find the same item. I can definitely see where the OP is coming from. I think the game would have benefited more from fewer, but more varied new buildings/places.
  5. Do we need a storage warehouse in a zombie apocalypse? I don't think we do. Tents in the mod were perfect. You could hide them pretty well but they would still never be invisible unless you used glitches to hide them in rocks. Plus they offered a reasonable amount of storage space, certainly not too much for their size. Tents in standalone are simply awful.
  6. Not a lot of thought seems to have been put into tents at all. Any tent that is larger and/or more visible than the one in the mod is absolutely useless.
  7. Reduction in player interaction in comparison to the mod is a good thing imo. I do agree about the rest. Having all buildings enterable is one of those things that sound great in theory but in practice it makes looting tedious for whatever reason. Also, my main issue with the game as a whole is the wilderness being marginalized. Soon there will be no areas where you'll be able to isolate yourself if you wanted to. Not to mention hiding a small camp or a vehicle. Certain playstyles that worked great in the mod are not and will never be anywhere near as fun in the standalone.

    But then it would take you twice as long to go from one end of the map to the other. Sacrificing realism for gameplay in this instance would only make sense if it took a lot of time to go from one town to another. The absolute map size should not affect run speed. There is no reason you should be able to travel the whole map in xx minutes. In the mod, players were much slower and there were fewer towns meaning they were much further apart on average. The game was still a huge success and nobody ever complained about run speed being too slow. Because it wasn't, and it was still faster than RL.

    So I take it you would be opposed to a map that is 4 times bigger with 4x as many players as well? There really is no such thing as "speed relative to map size" as long as towns/villages are close to each other. The fact is, running speed is way too high compared to real life. It should be faster than real life for gameplay reasons but certainly not as much.

    What does that even mean? Ideally the map would be the size of a real country. Due to technical limitations this is of course not possible, but it wasn't designed to make sure people can go from one end to the other in one short playing session. The towns are already very close to each other. Run speed should absolutely be changed, at least to ARMA 2 levels.

  12. Yes I do, see my previous posts. You might as well suggest jetpacks with unlimited fuel. It would add more variety to the game, might reduce KoS and make it more fun for players who want to play that way. It would still be the worst suggestion ever though.
  13. Because this is standalone game now and the devs have at least some idea what direction they want to take it. Adding anything and everything players would possibly like would not only take the game nowhere but there would be no difference compared to an ARMA mod making it essentially pointless. I'm not sure why we're still even talking about this as it is obviously not going to happen. Then again, I thought it would be obvious to anyone why is this the worst suggestion ever but there you go.

    Worst idea ever. Not only DayZ on a tiny map wouldn't be DayZ anymore but it also wouldn't really help test the game either.

    gut feelings

    I always find these "forcing one playstyle onto others" posts hilarious. The whole damn game is designed in a way there is very little to do other than kill others. By that logic you are forced to shoot everyone you see. How is that for realism? I still think even the simple bandit/hero skin system we had in the mod was pretty good and it just needed more refinement.

    You can tell lots of people never played the mod. Even those small camo tents were almost impossible to hide without using glitches. Big, bright colored tents = completely useless.

    How to stop server hopping.

    Decent but not the most elegant solution imo. These kind of ideas always get shot down though. The fact that the majority of the players in this game are server hoppers probably has something to do with that.
