Really? What an easy installation

[SA] Deathmessages - yes or no?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to Wayze's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Map being just a texture on screen wouldn't be very practical, would it? We'd still need to be able to zoom all the way in somehow. Death messages and waypoints have no place in DayZ. I can't think of one reason either should stay in the game. No to signs in English though. -
Bizarro Servers of DayZ
brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The map is only big for a computer game though. The towns/villages and the distance between them is too small to have a realistic amount of cars available on the map considering the fact that they travel at (close to) real life speed. It is one of those areas where "realism" is sacrified a little for gameplay reasons. But yeah, many people are going to hate the standalone I think. Your average DayZ player these days wants to hop on a server, drive around a bit, find weapon in one of the 100 new barracks, kill a few players, get in a chopper and fly/crash it, get killed, repeat. Standalone is going to be too different to what they're used to even if isn't that much different to actual DayZ mod. -
With this new Choose Spawn feature, Dayz Turned into CoD
brzator47@gmail.com replied to TheWizard14's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Probably not, but hopefully it will at least be without silly features like these. I'm actually surprised rocket allowed this to make it into the mod. It's more like something you'd expect to see in WarZ. -

 Giving people a choice where to spawn to prevent them killing themselves is like preventing server hopping by making loot easily available at all times. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to TheWizard14's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why even have the spawn selection system at all though? Seems completely unnecessary to me. Surely, in ideal scenario you wouldn't be able to recover your items at all. Since kicking a player from the server after he died would not be very practical, random spawn is the best and the most fair way to go about it. -

Server optional or not, I still don't get the reasoning behind this feature. -
Tried to jump back into DayZ...
brzator47@gmail.com replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess you can always count on dgeesio missing the point of... everything really. No one wants to get rid of KoS or stop people killing each other. Why is this so terribly hard to understand is beyond me. No suggestion so far would make DayZ "a Bear Grylls game", you even said it yourself it wouldn't actually make any difference. I do remember your idea of fun so it's understandable why you feel so strongly about this but I can assure you rocket will not be removing bandits from SA or trying to stop KoS. Making ammo more rare wouldn't make a difference to you but perhaps it would to others. Personally, I think rarer ammo could work, but only in addition to giving players more to do. And if zombies and diseases are a real threat, it could make people think twice before wasting their last bullets trying to kill a guy with nothing on him. Or even if he does have something, trying to kill him without damaging his items. It wouldn't stop people from killing others for the hell of it, but then again that's not what we want either. -
Time we do this ourselves, fighting back against the KOS
brzator47@gmail.com replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How is it irrelevant? It is absolutely relevant if something is going to be done to tone the mindless KoS down. There are no rules being broken by camp killing freshspawns either. It doesn't mean it's not a problem and that such "preference" shouldn't be discouraged in any way. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lolno. Most people shoot on sight for the lulz, not because it's safer or anything like that. In fact, most people who KoS are more likely to put themselves at risk even if there is no reward aside from "getting a kill". They don't care about your gear, they don't care about survival, they just want to play a deathmatch. I'm not calling everyone who KoS an asshole or a parasite but it is an obvious problem with the game. Rocket is very well aware of that or else he wouldn't be spending a lot of time implementing features such as item damage. Like I said in another thread, although it's a player mechanic, lack of content is a lot to blame for that as well. Imagine if DayZ was just a walled up Elektro. 100% of the people would shoot 100% of the time. There would be no point in doing anything else and you could hardly blame anyone for doing so. -

It's always funny seeing people trying to pass off mindless KoS as "survival". What exactly is the point of killing a fresh spawn player? They do not actually get kicked from the server or stop playing. They will respawn a few seconds later anyway and be as much of a "threat" or even more because you don't know where they are. It's just a BS excuse that people who play this game as a deathmatch use. I remember trying to enter Elektro without a weapon and hearing a voice behind me to stop, turn in another direction and run. He could have easily killed me but he didn't. If I had good gear he would have probably shot me and that's absolutely fine. People often say if you make ammo/food rare, then people will start killing each other to take their stuff. That is true but that is the kind of KoS that is not really a problem IMO. The real problem is the amount of people playing this game for the sole reason of finding another player and killing him in whatever way possible. Youtube is full of videos like that, people running around killing everyone on sight not even bothering checking their bodies at all. Now that the majority of the player base consists of people with that "playing style" it's probably too late for the SA to be the game Dean wanted it to be from the beginning but I believe giving people more stuff to do would really help the situation a lot. Yesterday I played with a guy I know to see what the new patch is like and he would simply shoot at any human player he would see. When I asked him why he responded "what else am I going to do?". For most players it's basically nothing more than a big deathmatch and lack of content is a lot to blame for that as well. -

Although it is mostly a player mechanic it doesn't mean nothing can or should be done. Nothing can be done to stop KoS, yes, but that's not what anyone wants either. There is a difference between KoS being common, adding to tension and atmosphere and 99% of the players shooting each other on sight for the lulz. It's an obvious problem and personally, the notion that no play style should be "punished" in any way is a bit stupid. The humanity system already does this in a way. Although DayZ is sandbox, there are obviously many limitations being a computer game so we already do play following certain "rules". Not offering any real solutions here, just saying I've seen some decent ideas being shot down because "no play style should be at an advantage/disadvantage" which, again, is wrong as that already is the case in the game. Whatever happened to the gun being lowered by default idea btw? -
DayZ Standalone... ...Let's Talk.
brzator47@gmail.com replied to GoonSquadCentral's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The idea is to create a tense atmosphere through other means than looking like your typical horror game with dark skies, fog and storms. They are making building interiors and map objects to fit the zombie apocalypse theme and they seem to be doing a good job from what we've seen so far. It still doesn't make sense to me why would you buy a game from a developer you feel lied to you if you don't plan on playing it. -
Will Dayz SA spend a year of development not fixing the two main issues from Dayz?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree they messed up with the zombies. WarZ did do a better job with zombies but RV engine can do things the WarZ can only dream of so it's a pointless comparison. If making the zombie AI was easy it would have been done by now. The point is, they should have realized earlier these zombies are not going to work. I remember rocket saying he's happy with the zombies and yet every time we would see them in a video they would still look bad. They really should have started the whole process of rewriting the AI from scratch all the way back. The rest is either your opinion or complete nonsense. Without the MMO architecture, what would have been the point of the standalone in the first place? Sounds like all you want is a repacked mod with improved performance. And how DO you improve performance while also having thousands of zombies all spawned server side? By doing what you apparently "don't care for". Modded servers don't make the game good. In fact, they are everything that's wrong with the game at the moment. No private hives is one of the best things about DayZ standalone and I hope it lasts as long as possible. -
Does anyone even remember what DayZ is?
brzator47@gmail.com replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But why does it matter even if that does happen? You'll just respawn with the same gear and near another fully repaired vehicle. mZLY is absolutely right imo. Modded, casual servers have only added to the problem when it comes to boredom in DayZ. Most people will agree there is not enough to do in this game. Give everyone a starting weapon, make vehicles easily available and there is very little to do aside from going around shooting people. Sadly this is what DayZ experience is about for most new players. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Punished", haha. What you're not getting is this game was never intended to be about instant gratification. It was supposed to be brutal, hard and unfair. That is what made it different to anything else out there. By playing on those servers you're not enjoying all the experiences DayZ has to offer, that's the whole point. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Modding/private hives will eventually happen imo. It's yet another "choice is good" situation where the majority want something but don't realize it's bad for the game and the whole experience in the long run. -
I really hope Rocket doesn't allow modding for SA.
brzator47@gmail.com replied to billyangstadt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The day they do allow modding, and it will eventually happen, is the day the game will start turning into a generic, watered down version of itself. It's inevitable really. Give people a choice and most will rather play on a server with a million vehicles and choppers and 24/7 daylight. Aside from new islands/maps, which we can expect for SA anyway, personally I don't see the need for modding at all. -

Relogging for zombies, seriously? Even when they're pathetically weak as they are right now in the mod, people still feel the need to cheat. Does it get any more lame than that? -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ standalone is going to be a massive flop then. Being basically a "hardcore" version of the vanilla mod, placed on a modified Chernarus with no vehicles at launch and no support for modding. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No matter how many times you repeat it, it's still such a poor argument. 99% of dayz players don't play vanilla DayZ, what does that tell us? -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah. Whenever I play in a group there is always someone moaning about 1st person being too hard and refuses to play so we're forced into 3rd person servers because "we can use 1st person there too". Same goes for a friend who I play with most of the time. He doesn't like 1st person because he "can't see anything" but he doesn't realize in reality he sees more than he should in 3rd person, rather than the other way around. Even after explaining it to him, he doesn't care others can exploit the view as long as he can because he finds it easier to play. Basically I end up playing in FPV servers only when I'm alone. My playstyle isn't really running into Cherno or Elektro for a quick deathmatch so having to use a different character than the one when I play with others is kinda annoying. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You could say the same about any other aspect of the game though. "Vanilla fans dictating how others play their game". At the end of the day, it's Rocket and crew who will dictate how we play the game. They are obviously aiming for a more focused, standardized experience. Leaving eveything optional is the worst thing they could possibly do in that case. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Probably not, at least not enough to be an issue. Especially if it took a few seconds for the view to switch to third person. It would be a good solution IMO. We'd be able to travel in third person so those who want to look at their character or enjoy the landscape would be happy and looting/sneaking past zombies/combat would be in first person. -

brzator47@gmail.com replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah but there is nothing hardcore about first person view by itself. By calling it "hardcore" some people seem to be implying first person view is a feature for a select group of weirdos who want to play in an ultra realistic way when in reality first person should just be "normal" mode.
