I got this error twice while running to Stary. I have yet to be in a vehicle this life, and I only took loot from one player (a Lee Einfeld and its ammo). Because of this I doubt it's anything hacker related. Is there a known fix? It's been frustrating trying to head North and suddenly being kicked and forced to rejoin. I'm going to join a new server shortly and see if it still occurs, will update if the same error happens.

Is there any way in DayZ you can swim out to a boat to repair it? A group of friends and myself found one, and it's in perfect condition but out of gas about 50m from shore. We have made several attempts to reach it with gas but can't get it to work. Is this even doable, to get a boat refueled that is out at sea, or should we abandon our cause?

Actually had something similar myself. In the brief period I was able to play, I went to the very small military base / medical tent north-west of cherno (with the 4 deer stands). When I approached I alerted the zed's...but rather than run outside to fight me, they grouped up in a corner formed by the sandbags and I picked them all off. I thought maybe it was because the gate was closed, but when inside the base I alerted zed's outside of it (gates still open, confirmed upon exit) and they just ran straight into the sandbags and didn't make an effort to get to me another way. And a third instance (same time period): Some of the ones that re-spawned on the opposite side of the camp approached me while I was looting one of the stands (somehow I alerted them apparently). Rather than climb a ladder as they usually did, they simply glitched underneath the stand to the area you cannot walk to. I climbed down, and they were stationary for about 10-15 seconds before suddenly appearing in front of the ladder and resuming attacking me normally. tl;dr - Zed pathing seems off after update; rather than seek routes to attack me, they just charge directly into obstacles (with limited side to side movement, never a serious threat of attacking) until I reposition to make it easier for them or kill them.

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but as far as I can tell nothing has been changed or fixed about the unable to play glitch. I was playing on a server (finally) when my friend told me to join another one to cover him while he looked for loot. Did it, finished up and then went to return to the other working server...and was stuck on the character create screen. Attempted to return to my friend's server (at this point I don't care if it's my regular, I just wanted to play) and got character create screen again. Still seems hit or miss with no real "fix" from my experience. I could be wrong though.

I know it's being worked on, but is there a real timetable as to when everyone will be able to play again? Does this typically happen after every update?

My first player encounter was someone shouting friendly, me responding friendly as well, and then gunshots as he murdered me despite the fact I was backing away from him and clearly trying to leave him alone (we were in an apartment). My second was getting shot when being chased by zombies and clearly having nothing, having just recently spawned. I've shot one person since (armed and seeming to aim at me), and have pretty much decided to either avoid or shoot first. From what I can tell, the "decent" people in this game are few and far between. I'll stick with just trusting the friends I play with.

I'm fairly new, but I also talked my brother and friend into getting DayZ as well. The three of us have been playing together as a group, but using direct communication is unreliable and not efficient for when we're splitting up (providing overwatch as we enter a town). How can the three of us talk to each other in constant communication without alerting the other players in game? Would using something like ventrilo work?

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. I've already raided the Cherno supermarket and high-tailed it out of there. Got a weapon and a good amount of ammo and toosl, but no pack. I'll probably just head North and try to find a supermarket in one of those cities. Which Northern cities have supermarkets to raid? Which should I go to first?

I'm a new player starting to slowly get the hang of the game, but one thing holding me back so far is how few items I can carry. The starter pack is limited, especially since I've finally found my first gun and am juggling ammo, food, medical supplies, etc. Any general tips on where to search for a new, bigger back? My brother found one on another dead player, but I hope to head North to avoid others and wouldn't really try to kill another player anyways. Do backpacks spawn in loot piles? If so, which ones and where would I find them most likely? Thanks in advance.

This has been resolved. It was related to a separate issue where the BattlEye folder did not auto-create itself in the ArmA 2: CO folder, just the original ArmA 2 one.

Both myself and my brother have separate steam accounts, both own Arma2 and Arma2 CO and both have installed the DayZ mod and are using the SixLauncher. However, when we both attempt to play the game only my brother can get into a lobby; my game just loads, shows a blank screen then reloads and sends me back to the main screen. Is there any reason for this, and any way to fix it? Steam Version. No Beta Patch that I know of, but neither does my brother and he isn't having issues. Sixupdater. Cannot connect to a game while my brother is playing on his computer and am not given an error message as to why. Good enough specs. Windows 7. Yes.
