    AusArma [ANZ1-5] Server Donations page!

ANZ5 is up, We are using the spare bandwidth from another box to host this one, it should have 1.5-1.7 TB to play with so it may need to be shut down occasionaly (during off-peak) to conserve bandwidth.
  2. the aussie + kiwi servers are laggier for 2 (maybe 3) reasons. 1) Generally sub-par datacentres compared to the US (minor) + Results in weird stuff like packet loss to the hive occasionally 2) The cost to rent a server is at least quadruple what US hosters pay (major contributer) + our hardware (ausarama at least) is better/on-par with most US providers, it hardly breaks a sweat running 2 dayz servers. At the end of the day, as long as you have the $$$, you can get US spec servers. It's not like intel ship us different CPUs or anything, it's all the same hardware. 3) Distance from the hive (major contributer) + US server --> Hive : ~20-50ms + AU server --> Hive : ~160-200ms It used to be REALLY bad back in 1.5 or 1.6 (I can't remember, too many builds) where requests to the hive was causing massive desync on au servers when vehicles were getting updated. This wasn't a large issue for the US hosts because they get pretty much an instant response from the hive. We have taken measures to drastically reduce the amount of overhead caused by contacting the hive and waiting what seems like an eternity for a response (from a server prespective that is). You may notice our servers take less time than other AU providers to "create character" etc. We may have some further improvements but that is top secret :)
  3. Which is fine. I'm extremely grateful for the chance to take part in the alpha. What wasn't clear was this: At what point in time did the issue go from being DDoS to maintenance? Was it before Vipeax's post? How many hours after the decision to perform maintenance had I and my friends spent trying to get on a server? When an ETA is given to having everything back up and running' date=' that implies that the DDoS is no longer an issue. Is this not the case? [/quote'] Does it matter? They can take all the time they need. Remember, you are not a paying customer.
  4. search before posting. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=26091
  5. there is a map bug in that area that lets you glitch into the building.
  6. It's a private server with a custom hive that is not linked to dayz. I know the player who created it. At the end of the day, there is no harm as it isn't linked to the main hive. The naming convention is a bit deceiving to new players but hey...

    Ta, been dealt with.

    ANZ2

Actually I have full trust in our admins, so I don't bother checking them out. I already waste enough time managing the servers, I don't want to waste more doing things I know the outcome of.

    ANZ2

Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but there are so many threads in this forum about this kind of thing it really annoys me (this is the first for ANZ1-4 btw). The first restart was done by one of our admins because something was playing up, the second one was automatic, I found out today that a system I setup to warn players about the impending restart didn't actually work.... Needless to say it will be fixed shortly.

I didn't even bother checking the logs, I know it was a legit server restart because that is the ONLY kind of server restart.

    ANZ2

I don't give a fuck because people like you make shit up just because the server restarted at an inconvenient time. I assume you are quite young, as you still seem to think the world revolves around you. Maybe in a few years you will learn otherwise :)

    Hacking players on ANZ3

touche` well there are lots of ways to get guns in the game and dupe them as well. We do out best with the tools we have (and we have more than most) but I'm not going to search through the 2GB log files we get daily by hand for this stuff. If the auto-parser doesn't pick it up then good for them for using a decent script for once (as opposed to ammo.sqf lol). Keep in mind that a lot of people will spawn shit on less secure servers and then jump onto ANZ1-4 with their hacked gear.

cool story, but nobody cares about your boat.

    Restart Script

i created a batch file to restart the firedaemon services we have setup. The batch file gets run @ 6am,12pm,6pm,12am. I have also setup BEC to warn players of the impending restart. It is literally 5-6 lines in a batch file and shouldn't be hard for you to figure out.

    US Navy {SEALs}

those are the most noob scripts on earth that I would expect would be used by a bunch of noobs calling themselves "SEALS". Your video proves nothing btw...

    Server Nukes dont matter

someone with a nuke script please jump onto ANZ1-4 so I can see wtf it is using. So far we haven't had any and I feel left out :(
  21. cm. (DayZ)

Another one found : Perm Ban :)

No need to make a post for every script kiddie you ban. This forum would be FULL of threads otherwise.

    server log question (for admins)

lol wtf are you on about, the majority if dayz code is stored in sqf files. These particular lines are coming up a lot so I doubt it's a hack.
