Short version for whose who don`t like to read a lot: Add new parameter to animal/human object - attractiveness. This would be another addition to decide if zombie attack or not. If you are not attractive (covered with zombie guts), zombie won`t attack untill it smells you, but it will gladly jump on poor rabbit meat You brought. Longer version: I don`t know how many of you guys watch "The walking dead", but for whose who watch. In last episode there was guy, who was using animals to attract zombies (rats, rabbits in cages). This could be quite fun feature in Day Z Standalone - catch a rabbit into cage (made with new great crafting system), then use it to attract zombies in city - which allow to loot some places which are overrun. How I see this working. I`m not sure about how Arma models are build, but I would add "attractive" variable to object (women model always get 100%!). When zombie see some actor (animals/people are the same object?)will check actor`s attractiveness. If there are two models in same distance it will choose more attractive. I would add some function to count attractiveness with distance, sight, smell values. This could be quite fun feature - some other objects could have +/- addons to attractiveness - for example red shirt give +10 attractiveness and red shirt covered in zombie guts -10. This makes a lot more possibilities to avoid enemy (of course it won`t affect PvP). Adding some items which effect attractiveness could be quite good addition to Standalone (dezodorants, face/body paints, smell protectors?...). Btw. I was always wondering why zombies don`t eat animals. I would be funny to see 100 zombies running after small rabbit -

First, make the game as long as you feel it needs. I would prefer to play very late alpha then unready one. My money is stored in "Only for Day Z standalone" shelf till end of year ;) Second, I like devblogs like this. Last Alien game had great dev videos, but game was crap. It can be otherwise with Day Z. Change Arma II squad commands to voice commands. It can make game easier to all people who don`t have mic (or just don`t use it very often). F1 -> shout F2 -> speak F3 -> whisper 1. Friendly 2. Cease Fire 3. Drop your weapon 4. Surrender 5. Watch out! There is a zombie! 6. Leave it! This is my loot! 7. Please! Don`t kill me. 8. You damn hacker! Etc. It could also look this way: 1. Move 1.1. Forward 1.2. ... I personally would choose Rocket to record his own voice, but some community "voices" would be nice also :) Please, don`t write posts without arguments for/against this idea. Discussion is now open!

I didn`t thought someone would find this idea after such long time. I`m glad you like it and I hope Rocket will notice it also. It would also be great thing for all people with shitty voice ;)

This patch is great! And preventing Alt + F4 is one of best thing here, but for one of people who have issues with Internet this means end of playing Day Z for me. I hope in standalone there will be logout time not sudden death (this at least gives a chance, not to be killed when Internet connection is down). Still good job guys! -
It really looks amazing! I`ve just imagined Seattle map (from first video) remade for Day Z (with all buildings accessible)! This would be more then amazing! O.O

Hi guys! I`m playing Day Z since about 4-6 weeks (I know it`s not long). First I was playing without any help then after 4 weeks i`ve tried playing with looting map from DayzDB. I feel like this two are different games. First one is post apocalyptic surviving game with great alone/fear experience and many surprises along the way and second one feels more like FPS with a bit of equipment greeding (you always know where to go by items you can find there). Also second way of playing makes a lot easier to KOS (because it feels like FPS). I think that playing with DB destroyed most of this mod atmosphere. I wonder how you guys feel about this.

What would you say about making trading day in one of the towns this weekend (for 1-2 hours)? Most likely in not easy "snipeable" place (like Rog Por castle). Some trade police sign up would be nice for this one also. Maybe this would be nice time to meet some people and make this game more friendly for at least few hours. Simple rules: 1. Case fire for duration of trade day. 2. Everyone can trade everything for every price. 3. Voice chat is better to scream "Cheap medical supplies here" then text chat. Would be nice if someone can bring heli for sightseeing trips (for some fair price of course).

I didn't thought about hackers... But should we be scared of them? Ban hammer is working quite good here.

Nobody is forced to come. Still more people probably would mean more fun. If "good" clans would join us as security on at least few servers this will end up as success.

First of all as a new player i like to say this mod is really good (and even great for alpha version!). Only thing that bothers me much is number of unreasonable killing. I`m sure in zombie apocalyptic world killing another living person would be hard choice (because of fear, isolation... sleeping alone in the forest knowing that zombie can crawl any second won`t be easy alone). I rather can believe in group fights for supplies then alone murderers (I know that sick people live everywhere, but I can`t believe it`s 75% of population ;) ). Here is actual idea, how to make killing hard choice: Add new stat: depression (isolation, fear). Each first kill would have 15% chance of activating depression. More kills would activate this stat with 15% + 5%*number of killed people chance. Effects of depression: Random sound (zombie roar, gun shot) from random side (every 1-5min). Maybe (50%) growing temperature (as element of fear). Maybe (50%) faster getting tired. Maybe (30%) a bit slower movement and a bit worst accuracy. When depression will take longer then 6h - 5% chance to commit suicide every 1h check. How to fight off depression: Medicaments found in hospital (5-8% chance of spawning) - 50% of taking out depression. Talking to people/being in group (in game chat/voice) - slowly removing depression effects. Summary: This is good way to end fps playing like style. Player killing decisions would be much harder, which can go to more player interactions (much better for game i think). Grouping up would be more reasonable to survive (even for bandits raiding groups). EDIT For people who like fps play style: make this a server option, so people can decide how they want to play.

This plus more zombies (or some sort zombie hordes - one shot hundreds after you) could be good solution.

Every aspect of this mod force you to do something - you need to eat, drink, care about heath. Just random killing seems to have no consequences (since bandit skins are gone). I will repeat it: I don`t want to force people to play my style of this game. I simply want to help this game not to become another fps. This mod is so great, because it feels more then fps. It`s about survival (maybe rebuild civilization in future versions). If you have any idea how to improve social style of this game without destroying bandit play style I will gladly read it.

Lukio do you like the way it is now? I presume it will end in many people go away fast being bored off another fps game. If you don`t like it help to find a way to change the game a bit. It`s still alpha and developers are really great. Spawning ideas is highly appreciated i think :)
