Well it MUST be DayZ players and not people in general. People in general are never racist.
-
Ever happen to you?
-
Haha well I have no idea how to hack, I figured it was just a bug. I'm cool with that but just making sure.

Connecting to servers and my stuff is gone

Yes this same thing happened to me last night. I have no idea why. I am trying to figure it out but it may just mean i have to restart. -
Found one in a deer stand today. So lucky.

Would it be worth playing Arma2 for the experience?

Like would it improve my day z skills yah think? I'm past the clunky inventory system, got that figured out. But maybe experience with different guns and the map. -

Edit: found it. I'm having trouble figuring out which of each unit types has what gun but I guess ill just do it thru trial and error. -
Buildings and moving from coast :)

And then on the fifth day Cragzeek brought you a map: http://dayzmap.info/ -
@Assenti I never get crap out of deer stands, supposedly they have a high military yield butttttt not for me.
-
Last night when I used it it indicated where I was, today it does not. Is there a way to do that?

In a way, DayZ's mechanics make it a role playing experience without you having to get into a certain character. I have never felt more in-touch or invested in every decision I make than in Day Z. Why do you need a character? This is you, your decisions, your life and death hanging by a thread. A bandit came into the same room as I was in Churno. He didn't say anything, he had his gun in my face and mine was in his. I shouted in to the mic: "We don't have to do this". He opened fire and I gunned him down first. My heart was racing. It wasn't all tactics and maneuvers, it was gritty realism and a decision to shoot or not. That is comparable if not better than any RP experience I've had in a game or as a former admin of an RP site.

My most rewarding experiences so far have been my own deaths, to either zeds or humans. It is the paranoia that drives this game to levels of fun/ fear I have never experienced in a video game.
-
Hm, well I've been playing since Monday. So far the longest was probably 7 hours. That sounds pitiful now that I say it.

Whats that danger zone north of Ozerko for? Mogilevka and Vyshno-something?
-
How long do people live? Not noobs, I mean the average pro.

So what is the translation between game and real hours? And is the only way to check the floaty silvery lettering that is always elusive? -
@Kreaol Ah I see, that makes a lotta sense. How much did you die before that was a succesfull run or was it a one shot thing? Also I'd love to see videos of surviving up north. I have two buddies and we all are heading north to survive up there and try and safely gear up. There are a ton of things we don't know though, like how you store items over time, if they stay there cross server, what we use: tents? Ect.

How do you throw cans?

I never fire in the city unless its in a building. Ever. I think there are a lot of written guides on this very forum you should read. Check out the quick start guides I linked earlier. They are outdated, they are done in a way that I don't do, but locations are so important. Figuring out what buildings are enterable, what loot they drop, and how to kite zombies...thats what you need to work on now. As to the outdated guides, just take it with a grain of salt. I must sleep. I hope you find what your looking for.
-
Yeah see thats rough. Well first off when you log in, check the right hand corner. There were be silver lettering that quickly dissapears. This tells you where you are at. Check the second line to see what town you are in. It will always be on the coast as all the starting zones are. Then use THIS map: http://dayzdb.com/map#4.074.099 to find out where you are at what buildings are around you. I always go for caution over speed, so really, honestly, if you see a zombie, hear a zombie, don't go that way. Find a longer ruote into town. I highly reccomend you watch some guides. I died a lot today trying to get a good start. Probably about 10 times. It happens. Now I'm better at it.

Any good tutorials? Where is the best place to find animals to chop up and make into tasty treats? I have all the stuff, but I needa cut down a tree, light the kindling, find an animal, gut it, make it into steaks. I'd like a little guidance. I'm paranoid about trying stuff without knowing what to do first because I've had a lot of issues with bugs and dropping and deleting stuff and being shot at while trying to figure out systems like the inventory.
-
Do you drop to a crawl when they are near? How many tries have you given restarting? What city are you spawning in? (I refuse to do anything but Churno and Elektro from the inside areas) Hows your sound? (hearing zombies before you see them is invaluable) Is it night-time? (its almost unplayable at night)
-
Whats happening are you like aggro'ing zombies a lot? If you are you can 1) zig zag up hills 2) kite them through buildings (it slows them down) 3) hope fences using V Hatchets are plentiful. I've found them in little industrial areas, little shacks, houses. But really when you first start off I think its best to go for what a friend of mine refers to as "big plays". Because you have the least to lose at the start.

I acted like a bitch today when a nice well geared guy tried to help me. I didn't want to, but it was a tense situation, I didn't know his motives and he didn't know mine. Last person I met in a similar circumstance was a bandit who attempted to kill me...not on sight, but after we had stared eachother down and I had repeatedly asked him to communicate. Its hard on us newbies. We have a lotta choices to make and real fast. If I could find the guy I killed today I'd apologize. Maybe it was you and thats why you wrote this post, although that seems highly unlikely.
-
Thankyou so much for that Firehammer. @Elias I had watched that video, but it was fast, hard to see, and I am warry of old videos...they have fooled me into believing outdated things before. Thanks for the post thought I might have missed it were I not an extensive searcher with too much time.

Yeah, I have huge huge issues with toggling run and walk. I have not found a solution.
