    A mad scientist? All you need is a teenager with some time and money, for all we know these viruses work better together than they do apart(which would take quite a bit of time out of that equation). The hardest part would be obtaining them. Genetically engineering something to be stronger than its original body could support, now that's a challenge. Yes, and ot maintain that muscle those people have to consume between 250-400 grams of protein a day(on average). Where are the zombies obtaining all this protein from? I could see normal zombies getting around 40-70 grams of protein a day(the intake needs of someone who isn't fit and doesn't work out) You can't really compare video games to television, in terms of originality. In that case, I can argue "Simpsons did it" for everything. Anyway, I think it's more of a mashup of Walking dead(Actual comics, the show is too PC) + The Colony + Mad Max. Oh my appologies, instead of saying "add something this game has" You said "It would be pretty cool if something just like the tank from Left 4 Dead spawned up north." Completely different. But since this is a suggestion thread, you are sayin it would be pretty cool to "add something just like the tank from Left 4 Dead" Wierd, Left 4 Dead has tanks, and OP is suggesting to add something that Left 4 Dead has; No, OP said he didn't say anything like "Add something this game has". Therefore: Left 4 Dead is not a game; my appologies, I didn't realize that.

    Gave ya my beans brother. Rather than bumping an old topic, I'll just keep posting in this one though. A good idea to add, which came from someone in Robert's previous thread, would be grenade traps triggered by tripwires. This was a lethal tactic in 'Nam, the VC would put false tunnel entrances and attach a wire from the lid connected to the grenade pin. When someone opened the false entryway, they would be blown to bits. Could be a great idea if Rocket goes through with his Underground base plans

    You were talking as if zombie-esque activity was an impossibility, I presented that and the other 9 to show you that moving to a zombie outbreak isn't as far-fetched as you were making it out to be. For years biological warfare has been a known threat, is it far fetched that someone could create a lethal cocktail of diseases and release them in a large city? Who knows, maybe they're slowly being released into the Miami water supply as we speak; and those who drink tap are already being afflicted, while those who drink well water or bottled water are taking longer to change Conspiracies aside, there is a possibility for a zombie apocalypse scenario. Which is why the argument "You can't expect realism in a game with zombies" is invalid. They could get a mild amount of nutrition from native resources (people, non-zombie corpses, animals, plants). Not sure if you've ever been to Africa, or seen some of the natives from the poorer African countries; but you can still move while suffering from malnutrition. If you had seen said natives, you'd also see that muscle and fat aren't abundantly present on their person. The font and color of the quote text makes bolded words less noticable than I thought it would. You can see the difference if you look close enough though. Exactly, you said tank like zombies A Tank-like zombie would have qualities similar to that of the "Tank" Zombie. The qualities present in a tank zombie are: Superhuman strength, body impervious to burning, large resistance to bullets, forearms the size of a person, and a chest that can fit a couple large tractor wheels in it. I'm fairly certain only having 2 or 3 qualities doesn't qualify as being "like" something else. My dog has 4 legs, barks, has fur, a wet nose, and craps outside. He's more similar to a human baby than your revised "tank-like" zombies are to a tank. Tomorrow: Kidding of course, I don't use the word outrageous in public. Zombies aren't original, but the approach Rocket took is very original; putting players into a zombie survival sandbox with other players. I have no problem with your idea, I'm just saying you need to elaborate more on it than saying "add something like this game has" Again, saying something like "add special zombies" doesn't really make a valid suggestion. It's been requested before, and with a lot more originality. If you're going to make a suggestion, you should at least add some bit of originality to it.

  5. There's also the whole logging off of a server and logging back in behind somebody thing; still wouldn't make up for the time. I'd have to see a video though to know exactly how plausable it is, you can never know if someone is exaggerating with time

    Sounds like a good idea, I can think of a few uses. You could plant one in an off to the side area, and when a zombie triggers it other zombies would flock to the area. This could clear a large area of zombies as well as attract players without any sign of where you are currently(you don't have to chuck it). As well as planting them for players to spring and get packs of zombies flooding at them, causing them to waste precious time/ammunition. Allowing you to get the edge over a more geared player by whittling his resources down and striking when appropriate
  8. Hotwiring a car isn't difficult 1. Take off the cover under the wheel. 2. Strip the two red wires(can do with a knife) and twist them together. 3. Take the brown wire, and touch it briefly with the coupled red wires. 4. ??? 5. Profit You could also hotwire it by running power from the battery to the coils and using something metal to link both ends of the starter solenoid together. Or(if you have a toolbox) you could just drill through the locking mechanism altogether and use a screwdriver to turn the ignition like a regular key would EDIT: Nobody use this for illegal purposes, this should only be done on your own car or with consent of the car's owner. Felt I had to say this EDIT2: I just had an epiphany. We can fix cars/helicopters with scraps and a toolbox; therefore All Russians are mechanics, just think about it.
  9. The ladder bit seems possible. Many a time I haven't seen my friend go up or down a ladder; he'll usually stand in the spot he got onto the ladder at or he'll just disappear completely. Could you by any chance upload the video and post a link in your OP?

    There are many diseases around today that produce zombie-like qualities. Nodding disease, Sleeping sickness(caused by a parasite but still), dysarthira(more likely the cause of moaning and such), necrosis, leprosy, and rabies All of these have been known to do one or a few of the following: increase aggression, create the zombie-esque appearance, create a zombie-esque state(moaning, stumbled walks, etc), cause mental degredation. A combination of these in a more stable form would create an outbreak that would resemble that of a zombie apocalypse. Zombies would likely be suffering from malnutrition, the fat would likely have decomposed or been used by the body to continue operating as would the muscle. Which is why we should at least stick with the realistic skinny look and just make them hit harder, take more bullets, and increase their spawns I have no idea where I could have gotten that, it may have been from your original post, quite possibly the bolded section: You didn't know that Buff "Tank" zombies didn't existed in L4D, even though your post refers to them? They also didn't have fat "Boomer" zombies? Planting suggestions in the original post and then trying to act as if others created those ideas, neat tactic. Fallacious logic doesn't really work here though, but good try nonetheless. Actually, the reason is because you didn't present any kind of original idea. Instead you just pointed at the L4D Tank and said "Something like that". Making no mention of "Maybe we could have zombies that chuck body parts at you" or "Maybe zombies with more body mass that take more bullets to put down" or "Maybe zombies that are just skin and bones that require a headshot to kill" Nope, none of that, I'll just point

    That was a response to you saying that zombies are unrealistic, when the possibility of an infection that produces zombie-like qualities is very plausable. If you would have actually read my post, you'd have seen that I have no problems with making zombies stronger in fact I believe i said "it would be a great idea to make them hit harder(harder than a normal person would, but not beyond human limitation)" Normal people have a part of their brain that keeps them from using their full strength(to keep the muscles and bones from being strained), and quite a few people are born with a defect in this part of their brain due to many kind of disorders, and I'm sure theres bacteria that cause this too, but these people aren't bypassing human limitation. Your idea to add zombies in the style of L4D is bad, but as I stated zombies should be made tougher. Tougher does not mean making them cartoonishly disproportionate, giving them the speed of a gazelle, or giving them more muscle mass.

Reverting humans to more primal animals and increasing aggression. There are several logical theories about how a "zombie apocalypse" could come about. As for the issue of toughness, I have no problem with zombies being toughened; in fact I would embrace that change with open arms. When you start to make zombies into creatures with overgrown bodies and unrealistic qualities of strength or speed, that's when I feel you're going too far. If Rocket were to fix the AI, it would be a great idea to make them hit harder(harder than a normal person would, but not beyond human limitation) and to give them larger numbers. I would also like to see them out in forests, the idea of roaming hordes sounds quite interesting. Your responses are quite entertaining though, attempting to belittle those who have oppinions differing from your own. Makes me feel quite nostalgic

    He planned on making it more of an endgame thing, but you say that the average person can't set that up. Which part? Generators are easy, only need a couple of wires or alligator clamps to charge a battery Security systems are easy to do. Beartraps are already implimented, tripwires are require little to know skill/intellect, hell you could even use tin cans to create sound. If this were actually to happen, I'd probably use zombies as a security system of sorts; have them in their own sealed off section that gets opened up when someone trips a wire(a rope, some wood, a metal rod, and some springs will give you a door-pivot release.) So where are you having troubles believing an average person can't set something like this up?

    Rocket has actually been talking about adding in generators to create power. This would fix the issue most of you are talking about with power. He's also been talking about making the game more tech based, in a way, by allowing the addition of (primitive) security systems. I do agree with rob though. Thermal scopes, night vision, etc. wouldn't just disappear after the zombie apocalypse; sure they would be harder to find due to others grabbing them first, but that's exactly how it is currently.

    Yeah, and then when clans fight against each other; the fights will be infinitely long, people running back and getting their old gear over and over again.

    I seem to recall several instances in Florida recently that had to do with actual people consuming flesh off of other living people. It isn't that far fetched to think that some kind of mental illness or disease could cause people to revert to more primal/aggressive instincts. Whereas zombies that are 4 times the size of a normal person, run as fast as a car, or hit like a truck aren't plausable. I like your argument though, acting as if games with unnatural aspects shouldn't have realism spread throughout those aspects. While we're at it, let's give everybody the chance to find a "donkey-pegasus" in the wild. and with 4 pieces of scrap metal they can put battle armor on it and ride it around and crash through buildings. YYYeeeeeaaaaaaah

    You didn't actually read his post did you? He was saying that this should not happen until after zombie AI is fixed, where running through a barn isn't a plausable method of losing zombies. If there are a number of zombies after you, reload time and ammo capacity will play a large factor in whether you can take them out and come out unscathed. "special" zombies would make this game more unoriginal and generic. Almost as if Rocket would be saying "Hey I'm unoriginal and can't think for myself, what did L4D do?" I would prefer zombies being beefed up and having their numbers increased, as opposed to putting in unrealistic "special" zombies.

    Backpacks are the only loot

    That was more a reply to Xerati But I'm thinking maybe the backpacks were left and are preventing any other loot from spawning. That or there is a glitch I've seen on a few servers where loot doesn't spawn period, and only loot that was left from the last spawn is still around. After a while you couldn't even find tin cans on those servers, could be the same thing except nobody wants the backpacks.

    May have logged into a hacked server. I had my inventory cleared(both gun slots, backpack slot, and all equipment slots) after logging into a server that had a hacker rampaging around on it. I'm actually still on that character though, regeared him at Pusto market and deerstand

    I think we should work on sounds coming from the right direction before we start working on their loudness. Zombies sound tend to come out of a random speaker, instead of the direction the zombie is for me. This greatly breaks immersion because I'll hear a sound on my left, but oh wait the zombies 20 feet on my right-back side Gunshots tend to come from both speakers, which in real life you would be able to tell what direction you heard a gunshot from

    How about instead we make the map a little bigger, add a few more military bases and large cities. Then we make zombie spawns higher in big cities and military areas; possibly making military zombies more difficult as well. That way, you have to work to get high grade loot instead of raiding NW airfield on a server with nobody on it
