I like how everyone acts as if the artifacting is universal. There are a large number of people who actually don't have this problem I couldn't care less about the absence of the corpses though
-
Someone having hacked weapons does not justify banning them, unless they hacked the weapons in. It very well could have been some ignorant newbie that found the gun on a hacker. If you have the power to ban him, why not do some research and check through the logs; instead of choosing to be ignorant.
-
That or I'm the only one in this thread who has enough foresight to see what would result from this. It's alright, you're just thinking like someone who causes problems and not like someone who fixes them. Nothing to be ashamed about

Remove Hats, it's against my friend's religion

Not sure if trolling or serious -
So instead of actually doing something(IE. have your buddies play on a non-hive server) you're instead going to ask for game-breaking additions so that you can both allow your friends to play, and not have to buy more hardrive space(the cheapest addition to a computer). The downside of thinking through outcomes of minor/major changes makes me so much less prone to blurting out any kind of idea that has more cons than pros. Wait, nevermind that isn't a downside; thats the reason I do it.
-
I'm not, I was assuming the limit would be 2 as was ammended midway through the thread. It doesn't change anything, I previously mentioned other than the amounts it can be abused. The better alternative is still using servers on a separate database
-
Yes, and youtube has a functionality that will schedule uploads. People who upload video series record many at once, and use the Youtube scheduler to release videos over a certain amount of time. The videos are uploaded as soon as you schedule them to, and are released when specified to, allowing you to free up space to record more. I don't know about you, but if someone is going to use multiple characters to gain an advantage and kill me I feel a hell of a lot better knowing he had to pay for them. I'd love to hear your excuse for not using a sanctuary server though, since this option result in none of the aforementioned downsides. You seem to be avoiding it for some reason.

I didn't make that mistake I was saying "deal with the bugs" is telling those who keep reporting the same bugs over and over again to suck it up because it is already in the process of being fixed. Contantly complaining about the same bugs and adding to threads about bugs that have already been acknowleged is just stupid. That is why people respond in this way.
-
"It's an alpha, deal with the bugs." Does not equate to "It's an alpha, add features then deal with bugs." The prior shows a knowlege of how the alpha process works; since the testers must deal with the bugs while the modder is fixing them. The latter assumes the modder is attempting to add features rather than fix the existing bugs or maintaining a balance between the two.

How exactly did you find a relation between lack of harddrive space and not being able to play dayz? You don't even have to install a second arma, you can registry edit the game ID between the two. Even then, my whole steam folder is 31 GB, of that Arma2 is a small part; if you can't spare even 31GB then you have more issues than needing a new character. Wrong. You die, you disconnect; then you reconnect to spawn a new character. To switch profiles You disconnect; then you switch profiles, then you reconnect. Backing out of a server doesn't act as a disconnect, hitting "abort" is what counts as a disconnect. Otherwise, the new fix would be bypassed by hitting escape, then abort and not backing out to server selection
-
Actually, using alt accounts to kill others would result in the same dc/reconnect number as respawning would. In fact, it would take longer between the DC and reconnect since you'd have to switch profiles. As I said, there are no good outcomes to this. At best, players will have multiple characters with multiple sets of gear with the ability to take swift revenge on those who killed them and get their gear back. At worst, players will have hundreds of storage characters with dozens of battle characters and fights between two characters will turn into a test of who has the most characters. Wrong. Your character's location, his inventory, as well as any other information about him is stored on the HIVE database. If it were stored on your steam account, there would be absolutely no way to find hackers, as you could just edit your information. This would still cause a large stress on the hive, essentially doubling all the players stored on there aleady. There would also be the issue of how to deal with those who log in with a 3rd profile(which character loadout they are given, whether they are able to get on at all, etc.) As I said before. You want more than one character, without having to pay? Go on a sanctuary server, they are on a database separate from the hive.
-
How many people have you met that have paid for two characters? $30 seems to be quite a big deterrant for this kind of behavior. Even then, I'd rather get killed by someone who paid to have extra characters than someone who geared up 6 guys without paying and placed all of them in the same area. I already mentioned the impact on looting. Walk into forest where "tent" characters are, possibly place loot in temporary tent(or just put it in a pile), log on to "tent" character, pick up loot. Infinite storage without any possibility of another player stumbling onto your base camp. Then you have 5 characters on a looting party, able to clear out a city by cycling through them making loot much easier There is no good outcome to a change like this
-
No more tents, just multiple characters that you hold on to gear with. There is way too much potential for abuse here
-
Actually what is seen most often on the forums is. Person A: "I bought this game just for this mod, fix this crap." Person B: "Its an alpha, this mod is going to have bugs and we're here to find them." You seem to be ignorant of the fact that Rocket is indeed trying to fix the bugs, while still adding in more functionality. This is also not a game alpha, it is a mod alpha with future plans of standalone availability. In alpha mods, it is typical to push towards future goals while taking care of complaints given by the testers. This is exactly what Rocket is doing.
-
This would only create more space issues on the Hive. One character should be good enough, if it isn't then go on some Sanctuary servers; they use a different database than the normal Dayz servers, so you'll have a completely different character
-
This idea would only work well if the characters on PvE servers were held on a different database from those on PvP servers. Otherwise you'd have people gear up on the PvE servers to camp high population areas on PvP servers. I still think it ruins the post-apocalyptic feel, as high tension and banditry would be the logical outcome of such a situation. Rocket most likely won't do this though, it would take too many resources and would mess with his vision of what the Dayz mod should be. False, you can indeed transfer characters to PvP server from PvE; but the PvE gear provides no advantage in the area of PvP. On top of that, you can still engage in PvP on PvE servers by flagging yourself or taking place in instanced battlegrounds. Bad information is bad

I need to be teleported to a city. I'm stuck in Debug no-man's land.
Badjr replied to alienballs's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
have you also tried relogging? The most recent patch is supposed to teleport you from the debug areas to a spawn point when you log out in those areas -
Ignore the trolls, this guy posted similar crap in 6 or 7 other threads

Admin Abuse - DAYZ US 572 (hosted by new black panthers)
Badjr replied to kuek's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, you can see nameplates of the player driving a vehicle. Does seem blatant, but OP has no real proof other than the "you were kicked" picture which could have been for many reasons. I don't even think the logs would help clear up the issue, unless we could use them to find out who's car it was before and who did the kicking. That would take a while to sift through the logs for that though; it would help if OP gave a time frame of when this happened. This is one reason why I turn on fraps whenever I get near a vehicle or highly trafficked area; easy blatant evidence -
The photoshopping wouldn't be hard, neither would shopping the video(it would be time consuming though). They aren't shopped/editted though, and that guy isn't the admin/owner of that server. He's just a troll adding to the already prevalent rage in this area of the forums. Just report his post and don't respond, this is one of the downsides to the sudden popularity of the mod

US 1060 - Admin kicks for almost dying
Badjr replied to Invidious's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Some servers have that option turned off. It seemed implied by the way you typed it "it was found on the island it spawns on" So that means that this server should be up-to-date or is at least is being treated like one(if you aren't lying, which I doubt you are). Sounds like it was just a misunderstanding -
US 1060 - Admin kicks for almost dying
Badjr replied to Invidious's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That is incorrect. Helicopters were removed until they were fixed in 1.7.2.4 They were just put back into the hive Sunday, and only servers that are fully updated(newest patch, newest beta, and battleye enabled) should have helicopters. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/48598-server-side-hotfix-072-helicopter-status-and-server-info/ From what the OP said, he found a fully functional helicopter on an island. I'm fairly certain that helicopters do not spawn fully repaired, and even if they do the chance is extremely remote. OP obviously found a hacked helicopter and grabbed it thinking it was legit. Wierd thing though, how is this server still on the Hive; the hive used for older versions was supposed to be severed when the helicopters were added. Is this being delayed, or is the server actually up-to-date? -
US 1074 - Admin abuse + Hacked Item spawning
Badjr replied to Ollie Williams's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You find a truck in a forest with hacked gear in it. Then you see what you assume is an admin in a chopper; a chopper which very well could have been obtained through legit means. So, where exactly is the admin abuse? Next thing you know there will be people saying. "Hey guise I saw some guy I think was an admin riding a bike. Dang admins abusing their servers." This is getting quite sad -
Possible admin abuse on server US198
Badjr replied to dancalx's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Unless they just recently changed the ban display format. Usually it will say "You were banned"(sometimes with a reason adding "for *reason*") on the screen and not "Battle eye Banned" Battleye also has the option of giving out temporary bans, which would be the most plausable response to someone logging off and in over and over again. OP may want to try logging in again, as if it was a temp ban he would most likely be able to get on again. You mistook douchery for condescension; douchery is my usual response to douchery towards those trying to help. The common response to "this argument would be better if you had visual evidence" isn't to toss out an absurd percentage about how you're right and they're wrong. Especially when you unknowingly agree with exactly what they said in your post. "No, I'm 123% sure they don't need any kind of visual proof, they just need a picture." -
Possible admin abuse on server US198
Badjr replied to dancalx's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Might want to read the pins http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22386-admin-abuse-what-you-need-to-know/ Number 3 specifically. You also can't be over 100% sure about something. I'm sure that was your attempt at trying to demonstrate dominance over someone you don't know, but I might as well correct fallacious math as well as fallacious logic. I'm fairly sure that if you had been banned by an admin it wouldn't say "Battle eye banned" Battleye is the anti-cheating software that kicks and bans automatically based on set parameters. Which means that he was banned for violating the parameters, and not by an admin.
