Adding a single post to a thread that died months ago doesn't add to it, it takes away from it. I could see your argument if there were any threads on a similar topic that were still being discussed in late july, in fact I would not have posted this topic if it had met that criteria. I also would not have posted this if there were any threads, regardless of age, that suggested concepts that matched both of mine. Unlike you, it seems I have a set of standards when I post. That's fine, but your argument isn't valid unless you can find a thread that's actually recent and has something to do with both areas addressed in my topic; otherwise I suggest you leave, but if you don't I don't care I'll ignore you either way.

I also accept payment in the form of virgins. pressing shift and the numpad minus then typing flush will also fix it for many. Of course this is common knowlege, and available to those who utilize the search function(or so much as browse near the bug report section of the forums)

"haven't even begun to answer the op's question" OP had no question to answer other than "how is being capable of a search relevant to this?" Which I answered by posting the thread. If OP had searched he/she/it would have found not only the thread I linked, but many others. Hence utilizing the search function is relevant because OP would have found that thread instead of adding to the clutter by making their own.

Yea, it would be nice if they took out third person; but I have been able to get close enough to people to hatchet them in the back on 3rd person servers. I've also been able to loot their backpacks, grab a gun, and kill them with it.(You'd think you'd be able to hear someone opening your backpack) I could see it being an issue though. I wanted to stray away from weapons with the ability to knock players out because it has a larger possibility of being abused. I'm not completely against it, I just wanted my post to sway towards an area where there isn't any real way to abuse this system. The first thread has nothing to do with what I've presented The second thread had nothing to do with the first part of my suggestion, and only loosely had to do with the second part. The third thread loosely associated with the first half of my thread, has nothing to do with the second part. The fourth thread is a question about if you can shoot someplace and not kill them, not a suggestion. The fifth thread again loosely associated with the first half, and nothing to do with the second half. It's like you didn't even read them, but instead mindlessly linked to them. However, even if one of those posts were exactly word for word what I had written, I'm not going to resurrect and hijack a thread that's been dead for a month or more.

I'm not sure if you have any experience in programming; but this would require alterations to several different parts of the mod, cause unbelievable server lag(each item on the server would have to be checked to see if anyone on the server list has the same ID as the player that dropped it excluding the character that dropped it), as well as the added strain to the already overburdened HIVE. If we're going by the post I was replying to that suggested a 2 hour cooldown, there would also be the issue of storing(already stored, but this would require a more long-term storage) which servers a player had logged into, what character he logged in on, and when he logged in and using that information to implement the 2 hour cooldown. Adding to the previously added burden on the HIVE If we aren't, there is the issue of players using multiple characters to avenge one another Lastly, this would still allow clans to use each others' characters an unraidable storage system. If you would like me to find the possible pros and cons to any other changes, related or unrelated to this topic, Captain Foresight will be available on my account through the forum's PM service. Have a nice day -
I'm not sure about you, but I can usually tell when another player is about to try and kill me. You can see as their view swivels directly towards you and moves up your body towards your head. Its far different from the more friendly players who look around your midsection. And adding movement like that to this game would be far too clunky and ruin the feel Please use spellcheck if you want people to actually take your posts seriously.

I'm playing multiplayer because adding a human element into a game like this creates an element of randomness that you won't find in single player. I'm not here for socialization, I'm here for the authentic feel this mod creates. I couldn't care less about killing another individual if it keeps my family and friends protected. The Conscience is nothing but societal influence, you only feel guilty of something because it is something that is socially frowned upon. This is removed in post apocalyptic times, there is no penalty for killing another individual other than the possibility of him having friends. In a post apocalyptic scenario the reason most murders wouldn't happen is because we would be able to knock out, disarm, or subdue other people and prevent them from causing harm to us. If something like this were implemented, I'm sure you would see a large drop in player killings. Knock out a player from behind and tie him up, then take his loot and leave him for dead. Player has a certain amount of time before he can free himself. There isn't any way to abuse it, since anyone who could be knocked out or tied up could have already been killed. A change like the one I descriped would be authentic, realistic, and not retarded

Nice job at quoting the same post twice and pulling statistics out of your ass. Also, nice job at providing random case of what you think was an admin hacking with no names, proof, or any reason to believe it was an admin. We've got a smart one over here

Waterbottles...Should hold multiple 'drinks'.

I also don't pound down a whole coke after 30 minutes of running. This would make the game too easy though and ruin the authentic "fight to survive" feel. -
Advertising implies that you are paying for something, you aren't. You are alpha testing a mod. Instead of dealing with the glitches that come with alpha testing, you are posting this useless thread

Not even one page back in the list was http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/55935-get-rid-of-dead-bodies/ Yet you chose to create a whole new topic So, to ask again. Was this topic the result of idiocy, or of inability?
-
Actually rocket said "If you're fed up, frustrated, maybe even angry then I've done my job" These are all different levels of anger. frustrated being a lesser level than "fed up" which are both lesser levels to being angry, which is a lesser level to being rageful. Hence, centered around anger. Nice try though, but you can't be a smart ass without being smart. Instead you're just an ass.

This is a bad argument. Sure "this is a game" but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be realistic. This mod seeks an authentic, realistic feel; the notion that someone who has a goal of killing others would wear something or mark themselves so that others would know that is their goal is unrealistic and unauthentic. The PURPOSE of this mod is not to socialize. the PURPOSE of the mod is to make you feel a wide range of emotions centered around anger http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/108-coop-server/page__st__20#entry6115

Helicopters are quite prone to desyncing. Usually when someone gets in our out of them while they're in the air and parachute down there will be large discrepancies between what you see and what they are actually doing. You may have put 4-5 bullets in him on your screen, but the desync caused by being in a chopper could have meant you likely shot him after he had alrady moved quite some distance on his side. There are two helicopters on a server. If you have one of them it isn't difficult to find the other from the air; which means that usually one group will have both helicopters. If I had encountered someone who shot down my heli and then combat logged while I was killing him, I'd go get the other one and wait for him to sign back in again. That is why I KNOW you actually KNOW nothing, you are just a biased source of information that screams "HACKER" any time something remotely glitchy happens.
-
You aren't going to convince Rocket of anything either. He knows what he wants to do, and making PvP less prevalent isn't it
-
How are you able to post, yet not able to use the search function of the forums? I mean, unless you lack the capability of using it I see no other reason for not using it. Well, except for stupidity. So are you incapable of using search, or just the result of idiocy?

As I said in a previous thread regarding the idea of chracters being server specific:

Doesn't eliminate the fact that you could use your bad character as a form of unaccessable loot storage. Deposit: Park him out in the middle of nowhere, put up a tent, switch characters(time cooldown or w/e), put loot to store in tent, switch characters(time cooldown or w/e again), retrieve gear. Do the opposite to withdraw gear. The tent could be left or packed to prevent others from knowing where your exchange location is. As long as you aren't stupid you can keep someone from findig your tent during the timed cooldown. -
Vehicles/tents placed outside of the maps are cleared on a daily basis. Ths has been happening since July 6th If you have problems finding vehicles, go play on another server. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/25099-out-of-bounds-itemvehicles-cleanup-2012-07-06/

This would require a fairly large upgrade to the HIVE. This would have quite a few problems with it. One of Dayz selling points is that you don't have to track down a server you've been playing on to play on your character. If a server changes names, closes down, or is offline for hours you can just hop on another server and play on your character. There's also the added stress to the servers caused by the extra information they have to store. Finally, this would give other players(those who have access to the server data) the ability to change player data. Server admins could give themselves weapons by changing their character data, completely bypassing the need for hacking. Server admins cheat? Well, nothing can be done about that their server stores their own information making blacklisting irrelevant. Leaving the only solution "don't play on that server anymore", but your most geared character is on that server and this change prevents you from playing him on any other servers... I would love to get rid of server hopping, especially since it would make it possible to actually fortify buildings and create primitive city structures. So it isn't that your idea is bad, it just isn't very thought out -
The only problem with any kind of fortification mechanic is that one could just switch servers, walk in, then switch back and kill you from behind.
-
You think they are hackers why? You also just openly admitted to DCing in combat to prevent death
-
Still isn't difficult to edit the model, as opposed to deleting it. Putting everything in one file wouldn't change much

1. Not only can you set up tents on slanted ground, you can also set them up in trees(don't recommend it, usually tents near trees can't be accessed); all it takes is a little persistence. 3. This would put a much larger strain on servers, as well as remove a lot of the survival aspect. 4. This would make the game far too easy. Just go kill something, cook up all the meat, and then eat it. 5. Log into server, see player in barricaded building, switch server, go into building, switch back, kill player, ???, profit. 8. Already going to be implemented 9. I don't think this would fit the sparce cities, vast wilderness setting of Dayz. 10. Doubt most of this could be done in a realistic fashion. Side note: 150 posts, w00t
