Having money would be unrealistic. There wouldn't be a form of currency. Exchanges would take place in the form of bartering. "What do I need that he has" or "Is this worth that" This is how many cultures trade even in modern times like these.

I rarely get into firefights around supermarkets. In fact, I rarely get into firefights in large cities period. That could just be because I go about anything strategically and with the assumption that players are everywhere. Are your neightbors complete strangers to you? Can you only find enough supplies for a handful of people to be able to survive off of? Do you know anything about farming and how much time and energy it takes to produce enough food to sustain you? This is not a scenario just after infrastructure falls and supplies are everywhere. This is where you don't know any of the people you encounter, you have no idea what their intentions are, food is scarce, and resources are dwindling. Your group is hungry, hasn't eaten for days. You come across a single can of beans, a meal that wouldn't even feed one of your people. Another group is in the same state and sees the can of beans as well. If you say you'd share the beans then you have never been on the brink of starvation, and you have no idea what kind of desperation it brings with it. A man will kill to allow him and his own to survive, that's how nature works. You aren't going to change that thinking like some PC tv show. your still thinking with the mindset of abundance that is the present, and not the mindset of scarcity that is the post-apocalyptic world

Encountering a vending machine would go like this: See vending machine, Break into vending machine, leave It wouldn't be some "lets shove a bunch of crap we found on the ground into crates that vanish into thin air" Nobody would be stocking up the vending machine after the innitial raiding of it, it would be left broken(or to respawn loot in the case of a game). The vending machine gave him chills because he hadn't seen it before. Its like walking into your house and finding a statue of Socrates. Out of the ordinary and slightly suspicious. This is different from actually putting in vending machines(which they would announce ahead of time) That would be like ordering a statue of Socrates and then finding it on your doorstep. The only thing a system like this would do is give players one more place to camp for noobs.

Yes, but vending machines aren't necessary in order to survive. If people were to ban together to get vending machines running, one party would be getting the loot, and the rest would be dead after doing all the work. Thinking people will join together and help each other is naive. What will happen is: One group will get enought strength and weapons to supress the other groups, the other groups will then do what the stronger group wants them to(or try to escape/rise up), then strong groups will be dominated by stronger groups. If you want a better idea of what it looks like, check out most areas in Africa where the natives are struggling to survive and there is no government or government is lacking in the area. You missed the point of my examples The conquistadors killed off the Aztecs because they wouldn't bow down and repent to their "word of God". They took this as rejection of their god and killed them for it. The gold and land the Aztecs posessed was also a motivator. Revenge wasn't. The native americans welcomed the European settlers with open arms, teaching the early settlers proper farming methods for this different environment. The native americans were driven out of their land by the European settlers because they wanted their land. This lead to a massive amount of deaths for the native americans. When there is no set of rules or consequences to keep people in line, the nice guys finish last. To say that nice guys don't finish last is to turn a blind eye to the nature of this world. I think you've been watching too much Disney. World War 2 was not an apocalypse, it wasn't even close. An apocalypse would require a massive destruction of global infrastructure. This would require telephone/electricity not working, hospitals closed, plumbing systems out of order. Sounds like you're drawing your "facts" from the History Channel, where the sources are shady and uncited...Also, ALIENS!

Because this game should be made harder, not easier. Its moving in the direction of difficulty, which is good. If you want a game that holds your hand, leads you through everything, and takes skill/experience out of the equation; then COD sounds like your kind of game, go play that.

I know the crowbar is heavy enough to keep you from swimming against the ocean currents. If he walked from somewhere else then there is absolutely no explanation for why he only has a bandage and a flashlight. A crowbar would just make it more wierd. It makes more sense for him to have had supplies and most of them had gotten washed away in the currents. Your english isn't very good btw

Helping out strangers is asking for a shot in the head in a post-apocalyptic scenario. Survival is a short-range desire. When your in a situation where safety and survival is an issue, you aren't looking at survival of the human race you're looking at your own survival and the survival of those you care about. In real apocalyptic scenarios outright murder wouldn't be as prevalent, but that is only because you can easily subdue others without having to kill them. This would lead to allowing others to prove themselves to gain entry into your group. Have you ever heard of the Aztec? They accepted and treated strangers like friends, and this is why they are no longer around. They trusted the Spanish conquistadors, invited them into their culture, then they were killed and all their gold was taken. Same for the Native Americans and their land. Some of us know how people really are, and are able to learn from history. Others will die from their ignorance of it.

That is false. People are already using model deletion as a way to walk and shoot through trees. The game has no built in way to check for your models, the only way to detect if the player doesn't have the necessary models is for the server to check manually. If a server does check manually for deleted files, it will be the plants/tree models; as deleting the bodies doesn't usually effect anyone but yourself. -
Apocalyptic scenario happens, you're gonna grab a bunch of supplies and put them in a backpack. Seems like most of those things washed out in the water. Flashlights and bandages are things that people usually reach for in survival situations, a crowbar not so much.

Nope, I've been in the thread a while and I've read through it. I've run into many one-door buildings, it isn't hard to go into prone when you get in there, then sidestep the zombie on the way out. The only building that makes this relatively difficult is the log cabin with its narrow entryway. All you do then is kite the zombie around the table and then go out the door. Even when I have a gun, I prefer the above method over killing the zombies; I always seem to have a player within range to hear my gunshots, and it conserves ammo(or would, if ammo didn't refill itself). I have never had a zombie not lose aggro when going through a door. Sometimes you have to run in and to the right or left to break LOS, but most times that isn't necessary.

I already have, which is why I used the word "authentic" instead of "realistic" http://dayzmod.com/f...nect/#entry7140 And magical vending machines that teleport crates that players have for some reason teamed up to collect gear into isn't authentic to the Dayz universe. It isn't authentic to any post-apocalyptic situation. I guarantee if the world were to end, you wouldn't see people teaming up to collect goodies from supermarkets, put them into crates, and then give them to other people. You will see people fighting each other for those goodies and a lot of chaos everywhere.

I never have the feeling of "OH SHIT, I have zombies chasing me what do" Or any kind of feeling when zombies are chasing me, other than "hmm, where is a door/raised area?" Because all it takes is walking through a door or stepping on a raised platform to lose aggro. This mod needs to make it harder to survive, not easier. It's already easy, it needs to be challenging

The Sierra madre "vending machines" were stupid. In fact most of New Vegas was stupid and unoriginal. Revenge storyline, boring characters that don't make you care for them, side story dran across 2 expansions(milking for money) But at least those vending machines had a reason why they could dispense crap Using the chips as raw materials to craft the items. What you describe as boring is actually authenticity. Not COD-kiddy easymode stupidity.

The one everybody has been complaining about is caused by the dead soldier corpses. As I said before deleting the models causing the problem fixes the problem. Thus complaining instead of fixing it yourself isn't the brightest thing to do. Rocket has already said in his post about the upcoming patch that he has only fixed barbed wire, which was causing a fraction of the cases. The soldier bodies is a work in progress. He's been working on it since the complaints started, so demanding him to work on it when he already has been is idiotic I'm sure he'd be happy to have you help since you think it takes so little time to fix a bug like this. Surely you have the knowledge base to work on it, and aren't just some ignorant prick with another entitlement thread. Surely -

Should have quoted that post, I wasn't sure if you were replying or stating something unrelated to previous posts. I was saying something obviously happened to delay the patch, as in something went wrong and it wasn't as easy as they had thought. They don't have all the bugs fixed, so why would they release a patch that won't fix the bugs you're complaining about? I have yet to have the game turn unplayable for me, I don't have the artifacting everyone is complaining about. If i did, I would have deleted the dead body models that are causing all the issues; and thus I still wouldn't be complaining about it. -

I read Veichles in your topic name, and I couldn't help but pronounce it like an ancient greek name(like Heracles or something) pheonetically: Vee-a-kleez Also, making jerry cans rare wouldn't help anything. Since you can just find one and keep refilling it at a gas station. I don't really find the current method all that bothersome. I want a vehicle, I trek around the northern wilderness for half an hour and find one.

It isn't finished, this was the TARGET date. Obviously something happened and it isn't ready yet -
This would put far too much strain on the server, trying to find out who's been where and what loot to spawn for them and for how long. Servers are already under a lot of stress It doesn't despawn, it just won't spawn if it hasn't already. If someone has already been by and spawned the loot, it will still be there EDIT: 200 posts w00t

SUGGESTION: Add some Leveling or progression system, even if you still lost all items when you die.
