Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

Im certain it would be possible, but what with a standalone version of the game apparently launching somewhere around september of this year which It is probably safe to assume will use the real virtuality 3 engine I imagine quite a lot of the problems will be fixed in that release not this one and then you would have the problem of the coding being different between these two engines ( though I have absolutely no idea if that is the case or not) Regardless I personally don't want the playerbase to be split between an official and unofficial project - even if we may personally dislike some of the players, if your like me who appreciates the presence of the ruthless pvp above all else crowd - They are almost always bandits who kill without a second thought, and as such I can defend myself against them and get that rush that only comes from facing a human opponent without compromising my values in how I play the game, peaceful cooperation and all that pussy stuff ;)

"Over time, your quickness with a cocky rejoinder must have gotten you many punches in the face." But seriously If you took the time to read/comprehend my and others posts you would see that most of us are not all about sullying your precious pvp experience but enriching it and every other part of this survival simulator. But nah your totally blinkered and have made up your mind about what this game Is and and what it is not.

This is an interesting interview, past the midway point Rocket the lead dev of the game explains that he has only ever killed one player in Dayz when he plays and it had a "profound effect on him" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BlHvh0JVuk

Oh wow the slipperly slope argument, I don't think anyone here has expressed a wish for such a game, you just use that as your go to scenario to spout your reactionary bullshit like "GTFO carebear" ect ect. I have said many times I love the pvp component of this game, but I also think that all aspects of the pvp component should be IN GAME. I.E - standing around plotting the betrayal of a survivor your group has picked up whilst right next to him should not be possible if as a game we are going for any kind of realism, but it is because everyone uses voip to circumvent the in game mechanics. Maybe if you stopped to consider some of these ideas instead of assuming we are all carebears you might see it would make your pvp experience a lot more challenging and rewarding.

And when speaking into said radios would you be totally silent to players in the same physical vicinity to you? I may be tired but you just refuse to admit that there may be issues in the game mechanics that don't directly benefit your meta - playstyle and shit all over anyone trying to make a different point,

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

First of all I have no problem with dying in this game either, and I agree the bandit threat makes the game immeasurably more intense from a gameplay perspective, I was responding negatively to your saying that bandit skins were unrealistic and therefore not a part of this game, and then literally in your next sentence saying people should stop responding to the game with realistic emotions/actions as it is "just a game" It seems you have found your preferred way of playing this mod which is bypassing the uncertainty of player interaction by using external voip and shooting anyone who isn't on that voip on sight, but I hope you can understand how some people may see that as "gaming the system" to an extent - you are essential telepathically communicating with your chosen buddies in game silently and over 1000's of metres (ingame direct chat is what? 80m?) and you shoot any other player you come into contact with because simply put - you don't need them for anything whatsoever apart from their loot :P The point Im trying to make ( it's late and Im tired so I apologise if Im not totally coherent) is that a lot of people talk in one breath about this game being a simulation of a zombie apocalypse where you have all of the trappings that go with it - paranoia, uncertainty and betrayals between the most dangerous game of all - humans. And then *totally* remove that aspect of the game by bypassing the in game mechanics that dont suit them such as direct chat being heard by everyone in the radius of audible speech - y'know like real life, and make a concerted effort to *never* have to interact with unknown survivors for any reason apart from with hot lead and instead play with a chosen few which you have to metagame to even organise. Basically as Im writing this I realise these are all problems with the game design and not you being hypocritical so I apologise for that comment - but please everyone, dont think you are getting a 100% realistic experience or even a comparable experience if you bypass the in game mechanics with VOIP and never interact with unknowns - because you clearly are not.

Also if your bringing personal ethics into the discussion - I wholeheartedly agree, this game is meant to challenge your personal ethics, the question is - If one person is playing dayz actively telling themselves "It's just a game, nothing I do matters" and another is fully commiting to the reality of the game will their be any overlap in their ethics and actions?

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

Sorry but this struck me as terribly hypocritical, Bandits skins are taken out of the "game" because they are not a realistic mechanic and would not be present in "real life", but in the next sentence you say that you are playing it as a game which you know it is and you disparage the person playing it as an extension of their personality "as if it was real" You can't have your cake and eat it too, mate.

    Short break without disconnecting

Community sourced ideas are where its at! :P
  11. I think it's a brilliant Idea - perhaps additional functionality could be that if both players tag each other as "friend" the indicatior would appear at a slightly longer range than 20M, but only if your tagging was reciprocated.

    Telepathic groups of survivors

If I recall correctly Rocket said he plans to implement them at some point so we can hope that when he does they will become a viable in game alternative to VOIP as per your OP :)

    Telepathic groups of survivors

Epsilon, you obviously didn't comprehend the thread, then. It's about the fact that the systems in place in the game mean that any voice communcation is audible to anybody around - which is a compelling game mechanic that you are completely bypassing by using third party VOIP that doesn't broadcast even short range in game. Your group gets unlimited range - silent in game communication whilst people playing the game as is get 60-80m voice broadcasted to anyone in the area. People using in the in game systems are hampered significantly its got nothing to do with outsmarting people as much as your ego may like to think it does.
  14. Spoleto

    Telepathic groups of survivors

So rather than block the microphone keep it always open on direct if you are using it - so you can still get your unlimited range communication with your team but you actually make a sound in game because y'know - thats realistic and how it should be. The other part about radios and group channels is me thinking about an in game system to give us a (somewhat) even playing field with people using VOIP ( in terms of distance able to communicate ) but if there is a way for voip chat to also be broadcasted in game direct chat I don't much care whether I or any other player uses in game or third party VOIP
  15. Spoleto

    Telepathic groups of survivors

I dunno if you were responding to me but when I said "forced to use direct comms" I meant that even when your speaking in your VOIP your voice is still broadcasted in game direct like the rest of us who use the in game system have to deal with.
  16. Spoleto

    Telepathic groups of survivors

Thinking more about this the fact that the voice solution for players not using 3rd party voice comms is a 60-80m radius chat that anyone in the area can hear while side chat is removed ostensibly for realism issues (telepathic link to all other survivors - not realistic - realism good) but we are told that VOIP is fine and dandy is a bit of a sad joke. I totally agree with the removal of side chat so don't jump all over me for mentioning it - but as it stands it was one of the few ways that you could communicate over large distances to coordinate meetups/trades/bandit traps using the IN GAME systems rather than a external VOIP. So basically if we are not forced to use direct comms somehow which I believe is the best solution, it seems only fair for survivors using ingame voice to be given a system to talk over long ranges and to select people (I.E Radios with group channels). Talking in this manner should still broadcast your voice in the game world at short ranges to allow for situations where a player/group of players may overhear your conversations. This means players who play the game without external VOIP and meet other survivors in fraught, nervewracking circumstances and deduce for themselves what their intentions are can effectively (though not as effectively as VOIP) form groups that don't lose all methods of communication the second you have to scatter from zeds or players and go out of direct range. Crucially though these group channels would still broadcast a voice ingame from the person who is currently talkings location - so overhearing a randoms groups communications would still be possible And if anyone tries to tell me that this suggestion is not "realistic" or any other such dribble but still actively uses a VOIP to chat to their hearts content whilst sneaking through elecktro or coordinating betrayals of players whilst standing right in front of them kindly play in traffic.

    Telepathic groups of survivors

100% Agreed, as it stands if you are lucky enough to meet someone ingame who is friendly and you decide to stick together to loot a town or do a little trading you are putting your character at extreme risk using the direct chat, which would be totally okay if you didn't have silent - coordinated over 1000's of metres groups who are usually extremely hostile anyone not on their voice comms.

Road flares as an alternative to matches

Hey nice idea :) - the flares may be really common but it makes sense and the extra noise and light that is given off when a flare is used would offset the benefit of being able to start fires more easily.

Hacker on DE 55 - Nuked my server

Yeah I had just found a nice gun and all the tools and was making my way north when this happened :P I managed to get back to my corpses location in about 10-15 mins but It was gone (flies buzzing, no corpse) Did anyone else experience that when they attempted to retrieve their equipment?
  20. So after a disastrous solo trip to the NW airfield I decided to blow off some steam hunting bandits around Electro with a trusty double barreled shotgun of all things. Three men sitting up on the hill overlooking the firestation had been unloading a steady stream of death into Electro town center and it had to stop. Patiently I flanked their position crawling up the hill and giving them a wide berth until I was (in my estimation) directly above them, sure enough I spotted the first man taking aim with his DMR, completely oblivious to his surroundings - and his friend about 10 metres to his front-right, there was no sign of the third man. I figured that any way I played It the second I opened up on these guys I would be toasted by the other guy and his MIA matey so I rationalised that I could at least take one of them down and ruin his evening and anything else would be a bonus. Two shots into the first guy, very satisfying and all that but instead of a kill confirmation he dissapears into thin air leaving only spurts of blood coming from where he was standing. Now aside from the fact that the double barreled has a painfully long interval between shots I had also spent both barrels and had to reload before I could try and take out his buddy and I had no idea where the third man was with his silenced assault rifle - It should have been curtains for me then and there. But no less than half a second after the first guy had D/C'ed his buddy also vanished into thin air without any attempt whatsoever to turn around and fill me full of holes. It was at this point I clocked the third man frantically running out from behind a tree - he hadn't seen me yet so I attempted a kamikaze sprint towards him to get a clean headshot and make him pay for his friends cowardice, he saw me and promptly broke my legs with a burst from his assault rifle but I managed to tag him in the upper chest with one round as he finished me off, he fell to the ground unconscious as I faded to black. Optimistically I thought I had made a killing shot and that he would bleed out on that hill and take his death like a man as he hadn't insta disconnected at the first sign of incoming gunfire like his two buddies, and after a fortuitous spawn at Drakon I high-tailed it back to find my corpse and (hopefully) his lying next to it. Instead I found nothing apart from another survivor with my gun slowly moving around the area I had been in, I spoke over direct comms to explain I had just engaged some bandits in this area and I wasn't sure if the last guy had disconnected or was licking his wounds somewhere nearby - to my suprise the guy responded saying he had seen the whole thing go down and that suprise suprise the second the Silenced rifle man had regained consciousness he had immediately disconnected to (presumably) join his buddies on an empty server to heal up and start up their terrorising of electro all over again, he offered me all my gear back which was very generous but I declined explaining I was done for the night and he could keep what little I had, and after bitching about their cowardice I bid him farewell. Two things; If these guys were not such horrendous cravens they could have ended me in a instant - I was a sitting duck for at least a couple of seconds after I tried to kill the first guy and by instantly disconnecting they left their third friend completely exposed and vunerable whilst I reloaded - and he looked to me like the guy who had the most to lose out of the whole affair - Silenced assault rifle - Camo suit. It is monstrously unfair that these guys were racking up the kills in electro taking out any and all survivors unlucky enough to stop to loot anything in the town center and then are able to dodge their own comeuppance with their spidey-sense disconnecting skills. Currently with this exploit there is almost NO recourse for survivors against bored bean bandits camping the costal towns. It's a hard enough task to ascertain where these guys are sniping from - flank and outmaneuver them and then engage successfully with far inferior firepower and it's a total spit in the face that if you manage all of the above you still are by no means guaranteed any sort of proper justice because the damn wimps can't handle being bested by a costal player and vanish into the ether only to reappear on another server or a different position to start making newbies game lives hell again. I wouldn't change a thing about the pvp dynamics in this game as it creates some of the most exiting cat and mouse gameplay I have ever experienced but as it stands that is *completely* undermined by the near invunerability of these server hopping, disconnecting, angels of death and I can totally see why this is souring the pvp experience for a huge section of the new playerbase who don't see any way to counter the coastal " Now you see them, now you don't " fucktards. I realise this is a fairly large rant about something we all know is a problem but I think it's important to keep discussing it, especially how it relates to the new players game experience as I firmly believe they are the ones suffering the brunt of this epidemic. So yeah share you stories of PvP-Interruptus and vent with me :P
  21. I suck at forums so I dont know how to do quotes properly but I totally agree that "What you need to do is just get that 1 headshot to end their life right away" I think one of the problems with this is that it is currently the snipers up on the hills up and around the coastal cities are using high powered rifles which are pretty much a one hit kill anywhere significant on the body wheras the newer spawns are attempting to fight back with winchesters - shotguns - makarovs (Lol) So we have the bandits with the perfectly legitimate advantage of their one hit kill rifles, they went and found the guns they should reap the benefits - no arguments here. But they also get to maintain this high end gear with little to no issues because the only way they will be killed and lose this gear (as they should be able to) is if a newly spawned survivor makes that one perfect headshot with far inferior weapons (after passing the initial hurdles of finding said weapon and flanking their position *without* getting one shotted) My standpoint is that the advantage of better gear - tactics is totally okay but combine that with serial disconnecting and you can potentially have a super geared bandit escape certain death countless times and terrorize the coastal towns with total impunity. "I had actually planned to go hunting some campers in Electro myself, but after reading this " I realise there really is nothing we can do against these scumbags." Dont lose heart mate! It's a great rush doing it regardless and you can hopefully at the very least inject some fear into their play sessions until they sort it out! :) And yeah my shotgun hunting was never going to end well but I could have potentially triumped and created an hour or so of (relative) peace in electro by making those guys spawn at the beach like everyone on the wrong end of their rifles has to, and the main point is, as a goal that is pretty difficult to do currently " This is why I love my .50 cal. One hit on any part of a player's body is nearly always instant death. But Me and my partner have encountered these Dc buggers, we've begun to report them in the cheating session. " First of all - nice one and secondly do a public service and turn that 50cal badboy on those bean bandits show them what for :P

    Insane graficbugs

Im loathe to help out a cherno sniper but I have this issue intermittently also and as far as I know the majority of dayz/arma2 players also experience this - I have heard its caused by barbed wire in the area but I cannot attest to that, - that only fix I have encountered is going into video options and resetting it all to default - that seems to fix it temporarily but In my experience It comes back randomly no matter what I try. Annoying Isn't it?

Watch out for the axe bandits!

I lost it when he started with the breakdown from "One" , I would have made it my characters mission to get that man back on his feet :P
