Hey Vetrox, not going to say deal with it or any asinine bullshit like that as it IS a major pain in the buns and I feel your pain - I'm a solo player and spent about half a day slowly and carefully gearing up about 3 days ago only to be mass teleported and blew up by a hacker - I lost NVG's Ghillie and my GPS amongst other nice things. It hardly effects clans with tents full of duped items to restock with but its pretty soul crushing to newer players who have put in a lot of time finding all this kit only to be screwed over by a coward script kiddie. It's not rockets fault but it is a major problem at the moment with the mod and I think the community needs some sort of reassurance that battleye is doing something to address the scripting because at the moment I can hardly get motivated to log in let alone head north as chances are you will die to a hacker after many hours of careful gameplay

I will be very suprised if Rocket and team actually manage to get their standalone dayz out around September like they said but if they do - essentially you will be paying $30 for a game you have said you have no interest in playing ( arma 2 ) and a mod that has some serious issues at the moment (hacking/duping) and then you will end up paying for the standalone like a month later. Something to think about

Arma 2 IMO is worth the asking price, but honestly DayZ as it stands currently is owned by hackers, I say that knowing full well that the fault is in the ARMA engine and battleye not the dayz team but regardless - If you hope to make any progress on your character without eventually losing it due to mass server slayings and teleports don't bother until the issues are addressed. If your happy just playing until the inevitable Skiddie comes along to ruin your day and dont have plans to migrate up north and devote hours of time to travelling alone then sure - go ahead. Its a fantastic mod when your able to play for any length of time.

Your thread on the vunerabilities of the engine is really good man, but it doesn't change the situation we have at the moment - rampant hacking and no official acknowledgement that its becoming more of a problem as battleye continues to work to curtail it. I feel really sorry for anyone who buys the ARMA CO pack to play Dayz now, which obviously is happening all the time - there should at least be an official disclaimer letting people know whats in store for them if they try to play at the moment

It may not be as much of a problem for clans/organised groups who have tents full of items to restock with but for solo players like me I can be as careful as anything and slowly make my way up to starry then two seconds later everything is kaput and many hours have been wasted. If I die to legit pvp It's an experience, If I die to a script kiddie who gets his rocks off going from server to server wiping everyone - that's something else entirely.

Well I must be incredibly unlucky then because I have been killed by mass server teleports/nukes/thunderdome or my personal fave, being dropped from the sky for the last 4 nights running I have been playing, and this is on a mix of servers as I rarely go back to the same one after dying due to hackers. I understand we are testers but I don't think anyone here particularly enjoys testing how long you can play the mod before being screwed over by a script kiddie, I have stopped even bothering to go north now as it has become a case of when not if I die due to foul play and the majority of the tension I feel playing now is waiting for the impending server wipe not hostile encounters with other legit players as It should be.

Disclaimer - I'm not raging and calling for nerfs to banditry - just wanted to vent a bit and hear any similar stories from the community. So I consider myself a true friendly, I never shoot first unless I see someone either comitting banditry or get shot at myself, obviously this means I die more than your average dayz player! However an experience last night has tested my outlook more than most random on sight shootings and I wanted to share it with you. I find a guy in cherno church called The Bear Jew, I type over side chat (the server I was playing on had it enabled but it is central hive not private) that I want to come in if he is okay with that and he responds saying he is very low on blood and ammo but he won't shoot at me if I do - I figure he could be telling me the truth but if he is low on blood maybe the best way to approach him is with something he needs, so I offer to run over to the millitary hospital and grab him a blood bag and come back into the church and patch him up, he agrees and says "thanks lol" and I head off down the road to pick one up and slowly enter the church backwards and to my pleasant suprise I don't get met with a hail of bullets. I patch the him up and figure even though Im at about 9000 I should ask him to return the favor with the extra bloodbag I picked up as Im a solo player and don't often get a chance to get transfused, he agrees and gives me one too and a good few people on the server remark how we beat the odds having a friendly interaction in the middle of cherno :P We end up moving through the supermarket together and he loots with me for a good 10 mins or so before I decide I shouldn't push my luck and I tell him Im going to log off somewhere out of the city and get some sleep - he wishes me well and says its a shame we couldnt group for longer, I feel a little bad so I decide to tell him about the multiple STANAG mags I had seen in the millitary tents when I went to grab the bloodbag and offer to show him the way and get him sorted with a good chunk of ammo before I log off. We run down the road back to the tents and end up aggroing a good 6 or so zeds along the way due to our not so sneaky approach, I tell him to lose the zeds in the long tents before looting the ammo and I use the last of my shotgun ammo distracting the zeds we have on our tail whilst he goes and grabs the rounds - I explain that Im spent for ammo now and that I hope the mags serve him well and Im going to log off, and he methodically walks out of the tent types " thanks " and shoots me in the leg, reloads, in the body a couple of times, reloads again and I have time to type " Real classy " before he finishes me off. I really didn't want to give him the satisfaction of raging in sidechat after my death so I pretty much just laughed it off and chatted to the rest of the server about how cold that was and how odd that he would transfuse me himself and give me many oppurtunities to shoot him up before he finally betrayed me, he was low on ammo but certainly not out as he was clearly using the last of his half empty mags to kill me after he had picked up the fresh ones, then he starts typing in all caps himself trying to act innocent " WHAT JUST HAPPENED " "SOMEONES SHOOTING AT US" and when I explain that I saw him plain as day walk out of the tents and unload on me he begins talking about how " That wasnt me dude that was little billy, little billy shot you not me" I ask him whether "little billy" is his split personality and he says " have fun spawning in komarovo faggot " Banditry aside that shit was just cruel and I have got to say I felt pretty hurt as he had not appeared to be such a whack-job for the 20 mins or so I spent with him and It was pretty much entirely my own fault for deciding to lead him to a load more mags for his gun, he seemed to decide to kill me entirely on a whim as he made no attempt to shoot me when I was moving away from him after looting the supermarket to log off, only after I had spent another 5 or so mins helping him get stocked up, which I did purely because I thought he was a nice guy. Ah well can't expect not to run into some crazy people in the zombie apocalypse I guess :P Anyone got any harsher or weirder betrayals to share?

Yeah man the playing coy he did afterwards was almost as irritating as the betrayal itsself, if your going to stab someone in the back that ruthlessly, at least own it ^^ A good few responses and not a single "QQ Moar" or "UMAD?" Im honestly very suprised! Thanks for all your sympathy guys beans for everyone! :) I got to get some sleep so I can do it all over again tomorrow :rolleyes:

Thanks man :) I may just try that server tomorrow when I have cooled off a bit, hah. Yeah he has obviously managed to supress the concept that another human being is on the other end of those character models completely, fair play to him I guess :P Watching that video now ninja

Well as far as I could work out smoot was on a completely different server to evilvikings service, and after he picked his 5 streamers he didn't post a link to any of them :/ Shambles..

Thankyou Carlo and Ghostrider, I'm blacking out ontop of the hospital atm so yeah Ill try and find one of you guys in the pub/church If I get into the server. Can't be passing out in church that would be rude :P

The first blessed deed I will be asking for is for someone attending to give me a blood transfusion, I managed to get into Electro ready for the server announcement but not before a shootout with two bandits in the supermarket leaving me with 400 blood, passing out all over the place :P
