So my friend and I were playing last night, and after a string of bad luck we finally had a gift from god. We made it back to camp, about ready to quit, when out of nowhere we hear a helicopter. Sure enough, we looked up and there he was, flying over our camp. We lost sight and sound of him but followed the direction he was heading and within 700 meters of our position we see a fire down the hill. We move to investigate and sure enough we find the helicopter we just heard, crashed into the ground with the pilot's body laying near. We looted his corpse and decided to go looking for his camp if he had one, but instead we found a random tent in the northwest corner of the map, with an L85, nightvision, GPS, Rangefinders, etc... And while we were looting this tent, my friend throws out the idea that there should be a form of paper in the game that allowed a person to write a note and being able to place it in packs or tents that people could read. That way when you find things missing in your tent, you don't have to question whether it was eaten by a bug, or a hacker took it, or someone just honestly stumbled across your hide out. They could write a note and leave it in your tent letting you know that it was found and taken fair and square. Like or Dislike? Discuss

I killed a guy at NWAF a couple hours ago, no hacks or illegal items just an old fashioned CZ 550 Snipe, clear the area and then log off. When I tried logging on just now it says I've been banned. My guess is the person I killed was connected with the admins and got angry that he lost his gear. Please investigate and punish the injustice if necessary.

It's okay, I've been unbanned after posting this thread, so whomever did the banning must've noticed and didn't want to get in any trouble.

Do you guys know when your server will be back online?

Can someone please fill me in as to why US 3480 has been down recently? It's always been a high populated vanilla server for public hive with admins always on looking for hacker/cheaters to ban, and really enjoyed playing on it. Now that it's been offline I've resorted to using server US 1257 Public Hive, although it has a password on it currently and I was under the impression that passwording public servers was against the rules. So TL;DR, can someone please explain why US 3480 is down, and when it will be back? P.S. This is for DayZ Mod vanilla.

Hey guys, Since this is my first time hosting a server, with the release of the new patches. So my question is pretty simple. How do I properly update my Private Hive server hosted by HFB so it runs the latest ARMA2 version patch and 1.7.7? I tried attempting to do this myself, but all I was able to do was update the Arma2 version patch. Everytime I tried updating to 1.7.7 from the Updates section, it seemed to uninstall the mod itself from the Mod Manager section. Any tips on how to avoid this? Thanks, James

Hey everyone, I just bought a Private Hive server from HFB so my friends and anyone else could play on a server without the usual hacking/ghosting problems. I thought I configured everything correctly, read all the material I could to help me set the server correctly, but something isn't working still. When you load into the server and it takes you to the lobby, you have to sit through a timeout every time. Once the timeout expires it takes you to the next black screen, where you would normally have a map. But you never get farther than that black screen, you just sit there forever. I contacted HFB and they reinstalled my server, but it didn't fix the problem. So does anyone know how to fix this, or know someone or something that I can read that would fix this problem? Otherwise I'm probably going to try a different server company. Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys, So I just bought a private hive server to keep the hackers out and the honest players in. My buddies and I were tired of getting cheapened out of our lives. Anyways, I bought the server, set everything up, went to launch the server, and after I started it up, none of us could find it on the DayZCommander server list. I'm pretty sure everything is configured correctly, so we're not sure why it won't show up on the list. Is there something extra I have to do for my server to show up on DayZCommander? Or am I missing something else completely? I tried relogging several times with no change. I even had a friend log on and he couldn't get any farther. I tried reinstalling the map and reconfiguring the files on the server but still no change. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ahh yeah thanks man, that did the trick. However I'm having more problems. I joined the server and after the lobby screen it brought me to where the map usually is. (wasn't there because I don't have one equipped) But it never went past that screen and into the actual game, it just let me sit at a black screen for a while until I disconnected. Any idea why?

Yeah this is interesting. I knew of several camp sites that belonged to a clan. They abandoned DayZ for Guild Wars, so I continued to raid their supplies knowing they'd be back after a server restart. A few days ago I checked them, and all the camps belonging to the clan were completely wiped, apparently the clan did this intentionally to hide their evidence of duping hacked weapons and potentially hacking them in themselves. Now they are back on their server, with a password on it. Funny thing is, they passworded a public hive server. Gee I wonder what they're doing ;)

I say give us the freedom to choose whether we want First or 3rd Person. It's set up just fine the way it is right now. Give servers the option to include it or not, that way people who like 3rd person can use it and people who don't want the option can find servers without it.

I've done the, "Hey, lets murder newbies off the coast!" usually for fun, but there is a legitamate reason for it as well. We were sniping/spotting people in Elektro on the Hospital roof one day, and a guy hears us and starts talking to us over Direct Channel. We warned him that if he came up there we were going to shoot him, even though he said he was friendly and unarmed, and when he reached the roof it was apparent he had no primary weapon and the patrol pack wasn't enough to hide a primary. We killed him anyways, and found that he had a pistol with enough ammo to take us out. It's not the fact that they're not threatening, it's the notion that they have the potential to be your death, so that's when the kill or be killed mindset kicks in. Mind you we haven't done things like that in several weeks now, too busy chasing after vehicle spawns. But there's always the chance that they can come back and kick you in the ass as soon as you let your guard down.

Okay so my friends and I settled on US 633 a while ago, and we've done quite well for ourselves as far as making camp and obtaining adequate transportation. Over the past week or so, however, the server has become severely unpopulated for the most part, and it seems to be stemming from the massive FPS lag that's hit the server lately. It seems isolated to that server, seeing as how I can play on several others with smooth FPS at the same graphics. The server also provides host info, such as being hosted by BLU. I'm wondering if I can contact the server host and ask when or if they're going to update the server, has anyone else tried this?

I'm sorry, are you a professional coder or game designer who knows the ins and outs of how to fix broken code? If so I would like to see some credentials or some legitmate proof of this claim. Because if you're not, you are in no position to label anything as a "fast and easy hot fix". You don't know what Rocket and his team are having to deal with by isolating the problems you want fixed. If they haven't fixed it by now, it's probably not as "fast and easy" as you might think. I'm condescending you because you, like many others, are butthurt over the fact that things aren't going the way you want them to. The problem with people like you is you lack the capacity to see situations from different views other than your own. Rocket has a high demanding, stressful job who has more to worry about than some glitches in an alpha stage mod.

OP, I hope you're aware that Rocket has been doing a substantial amount of traveling to various conventions and interviews, getting resources and building a network of people that will open doors for him and his standalone product. He's kind of a big deal, with creating an alpha build survival experiment/ anti-game that has had over a million players at least try the alpha experiment and all, which is more than a lot of free-to-play MMO's can say. If you can't be patient enough for him to postpone an update for a few weeks then you should find another game to play. Those of us here who were raised by our parents to not be spoiled brats who know they don't get everything they want or asked for don't want people like you sharing our experiences. I can guarantee that whatever game you leave DayZ for won't give you nearly the emotional experience that DayZ has given us all. Oh and for the record, Rocket has been caught multi-tasking between giving interviews and working on the DayZ mod at the same time, as well as working on the artifacting from hotel rooms while he's been away. Most devs would say fu*k it and take that time off, which says a lot about Rocket. Just saying. Talk shit get hit.
