Of all the glitches in alpha, this one is just the most pathetic. I mean really, I'd rather end up spawning 5,000 feet above the map. But this? No.

AKM. You can zero with the AKM, you have more common ammunition, and you have 30 round mags and full auto/single fire.

You can't turn it off. The gun is useless during the day, sorry. Either stick to night servers, or toss it for a regular FAL or a different gun. I know, it sucks, but that's how the original ArmA developers made the gun to be. -
Are bandits what they are out of necessity, rather than out of pleasure?

In all honesty, with everyone shooting each other, I see no reason why not to become a bandit. I've seen so many instances of a man helping another survivor, but then being killed by that said survivor, that it entirely justifies firing on any and all individuals out of necessity. By that, I start to think that of the 60 thousand or so bandits, 40 thousand are such because they simply have no choice. Am I right? -

Has anybody else found that the AKS-74U is a bit better than the standard AKs?

I'm not suggesting any thing should be changed at all. I'm just mentioning a finding of my own: The AKS-74U seems to have a much more proficient record, from what I've seen with my testing in the editor. The Gun retains much, if not all of the accuracy and power of the AK-74, while also granting the user improved iron sights as well as a shorter, more manuverable weapon. It also won't stick through walls (as badly)*** From what I've found; the AKS-74U is able to acquire targets much easier due to the quicker aiming mechanic on the field in ArmA 2 given to shorter weapons. It looks non-intimidating, as well, which would make it an ideal weapon for survivors. In comparison to the AK-74, I found no distinct advantages of the average 74 over the AKS-74U. My thoughts on the Kobra sight AK-74 compared to the AKS-74U were mixed. The CQC target acquisition felt more comfortable with the Kobra dot sight, yet I found that at longer ranges, I was not as proficient with the dot sight as I was with the iron sights. I still managed to favor the AKS-74U due to the effective aiming process I had at longer ranges. In comparison to the AKM, this weapon seemed more suitable to an assault rifle based individual, while the AKM proved to be more of a stand-in sniper / battle rifle (due to adjustable range). In comparison to the M4A1, I found a lot of similarities that proved to be beneficial for each weapon, yet I managed to acquire targets quicker with the AKS-74U and with less irritation than the M4A1's clunky ghost sight style.. So, my findings on this rifle are a word of advice to FNGs. If you see an AKS-74U, you might want to take it and get yourself acquainted with it. The ammo is far more common than 5.56, and the sights are better than on other weapons. It's not just a CQC weapon ;) Added: Weapon damage tables http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=246 -

You should contact one of the head honchos with your development to get a little more support. I love this idea! I can't stand Six; it adds suspicious files to your computer, and it doesn't run worth a damn in the first place. -
My friend, you're SOL. What I recommend is that you get back on your boat and try to coast back to shore. Get it up to speed, then turn off the engine. It should coast a few meters. When you start slowing down, turn it back on while you have enough inertia, and speed up again, turn off and coast again, and repeat. That might get you back to shore. Skalisty is a bad place to be unless you come prepared. Without that water bottle, you have no chance unless you find another there.

I'd have to put my vote of confidence on the M1911. While the Revolver is no doubt a good weapon, if you're ambushed and all you have is a handgun, you'll need the fast rate of fire that the M1911 provides; one does not simply fire a single shot and kill a bandit (for sure) unless they have gifted accuracy/hax/a good gun. It's best to take the M1911, and acquaint yourself with it's sights in the editor while offline.

Seriously. Hax. Those are definitely non-legit vehicles; a PKP truck and an AH-6J? Those are not mod vehicles. They were spawned in. They are a threat to legit players. File a report on any players that you suspect are hackers so that this sort of issue can be avoided in the future... I'd hate to get wiped out by a hacker... -

I see people constantly complaining about sniper rifles in this game, and I see people likewise complaining about people who don't know how to avoid these sniper rifles. The main problem with snipers, however, are the rapid-succession shots that can be kicked off by the anti-material guns; the AS-50 and the M107. My idea? Get rid of those damn things, and replace them with the area-realistic KSVK. Yes, you will still have access to an anti-material rifle that you can snipe people with from a mile away, but in return, it will have a slower firing rate and a smaller mag than the M107. It is also a native weapon (because let's be honest, you won't find M107s lying around on foreign soil like you can in this mod. KSVKs on the other hand, cheaper and native, are far more likely). By no means am I b*tching about sniping. I love sniping, and this game wouldn't be as good without it. But the fact stands; it's ridiculous to have M107s and AS-50s lying around, while there are no KSVKs, and it gives the snipers a very, very uneven advantage. In my opinion, the AS-50 could stay, but I'm all for removing the M107 and replacing it with the KSVK. The M107 shouldn't even be in the game. It's like an SVD on double-dose steroids and . -
Good, but I have a few things to add on. Eating shit doesn't kill you, lawyers do it all the time. When you're dying of starvation, you have the ability to choose to eat your own shit. Should you do so, you will be at risk of a 60% chance of getting sick, a 30% chance of dying, and a 10% chance of nothing bad happening. Eating someone elses shit gives you a 40% chance of dying, a 50% chance of getting sick, and a 10% chance of nothing bad happening. Eating a woman's shit makes you henpecked.

The Golden AKS is from ACE files; I have no idea how the hackers managed to put them into the server unless it was in the coded game files, somehow.

You've got the beta hooked up incorrectly. In order to fix this, you need to start with the "Launch ArmA 2 OA Beta Patch" located in your program files folder of ArmA 2. Next, you have to right click it and select "Properties". Then, you have to have this following thingy after the original code on the "target" section: -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@Dayz That ought to solve your problem, or at least it did for me. The combined operations shortcut won't work for some reason or another.
