Purchase only; that monthly crap is ridiculous, and most of the community wouldn't care for it. Studio development; I love consistent quality. I really want it to be an ArmA 3 DLC. I'd pay $50.00+ for that.

Rocket is a sadistic bear f**ker

ArmA 2 functions on an engine that's been running well enough and continuously improved since its conception in the late 1990's with Operation Flashpoint. It has always emphasized realism, modability, and ballistic preformance over looks and software by tradition, so that you, the player, would have a decent military simulation experience that comes as close to the real thing as possible. Bohemia Interactive designed the game based on what would be adaequate to the Armed Forces, with the regular civilian player in mind. This is a game that supports thousands of AI in first-person stance, allows for RTS gameplay, and complete micromanagement of infantrymen and vehicles. It includes a system of highly advanced AI (when compared to the AI of other games) which don't preform based on a scripted mission like in C0D or Battlefield 3,and most importantly, it puts you, the player, in THE MOST REALISTIC military game world concieved thus far. ArmA 3 is being developed with the issues of ArmA 2 strongly in mind, and the developers are doing everything in their power to prevent them from happening again. They have a plan to implement even more military elements to the game and even making the graphics better, while still keeping the massive scale of the engine's potential attainable. They are doing a massive overhaul, and if you had been with the series for more than one year, you would understand that even the OA Expansion showed immense improvements over the 2008 copy of ArmA 2. Do you honestly think they're going to screw up and rush this game? Bohemia Interactive is going far to develop ArmA 3, and they're trying to satisfy players like you who can't appreciate something for what it is unless it's slick, shiny, and lacking any depth. Do you HONESTLY want to take away from a company that's trying to satisfy it's players rather than just shoving its dick in their faces? In short, your opinion is fucking stupid. Gtfo. -

Testing of Patches Before They Are Released to the Public?
Captain Q replied to MikeM27's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
We're supposed to be the guinea pigs, man. The developers had no idea that people would be taking this game and it's glitches so seriously in such large numbers. I haven't been able to play since I added the beta... @All of the folks saying "Alpha" all the time. We already fuckin' got that... Now understand that there are 300,000 other people playing this "game" who don't know nor give a shit what that means, and will probably never understand because of it's popularity. There's a reason most people test games to a closed and controlled population; to avoid the complaints. -
There's another problem with the game too- the zombies are too dead for my tastes. Real zombies aren't that dead, I don't think.

Why the hell no one talks in game?
Captain Q replied to Batuhan87's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In earlier versions of the game, I found group organization far easier to accomplish than the current form where there is no side/global chat. While it provides us with a realistic and tension-filled way of playing the game, the fact that everyone is a muderous paranoid schizophrenic takes the humanity out of it. There's no fear or knowledge if you have someone on the other end of the barrel, it's just the secure feeling that "It's a game, they can deal with it" and a button is pushed to fire shots. It doesn't matter if you shoot somebody. You have no moral obligation to life, thus the direct chat function is made dangerous. With side-chat gone, we must rely on direct chat, or as another user said, bring friends into the game (an option not possible for many players). The "heat of the moment" takes away an individuals moment of thought when they know the other player might have much less to risk than they do, and they don't really want to be shot first. So spurred on by paranoia, one player ends up shooting the other, without being sure if they were going to be shot at in the first place. It's the pressure of the unknown; "friendly or not" that causes plenty of the shoot-on-sight deaths. I'd be all for this. I just hope they are easy to get a hold of. It allows for a lot more possibility, and with the dead soldiers and crashed hummers & UAZs all over the place, they should be a moderately common find. -

Yeah, that's what it turned into pretty much... -
AKS-74U and Colt M1911 grouped together, hands down. The AK does everything the Kobra does (it's sights are excellent for an iron sight weapon) and the M1911 is the best range/stopping power/speed shooting pistol. If sniping, I'd probably end up with the DMR. It's overpowered, which makes it great.

No matter what I do, the game will not load, and no advice on this forum thus far helps my efforts.
Captain Q replied to Captain Q's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well, thank you. I'll go ahead and put it on the system, I hope to finally get to play. I run a Quad too. I went ahead and added the CPU and thread to my Combined Operations target, so hopefully it'll work out in the end. Do you have the -mod=@Dayz anywhere on there? Or does SIX cover that for you? -

Captain Q replied to Captain Q's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
No... No I have not. I was really trying to get this thing to work without the usage of third-party software. I didn't have this problem in previous versions, and I've heard that Six Launcher will install malicious files on your computer. I really don't want to clutter my system up with it, but if necessary, I guess I have no other alternative but to install it if it's, in your opinion, a safe program. -
A little about my game/version/whatever: V1.60.9700 (beta'd) Dayz 1.7.2/1.7.2.1 (both tried) ArmA 2 original boxed set. http://torrentszona....805-532930.jpeg ArmA 2 REINFORCEMENTS http://1.bp.blogspot...lonedvd-328.jpg Computer specs fit the requirements, don't even ask. Ping is no problem. My problem? The game will NOT load no matter what I do. Doesn't matter what I put in the target field "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2OA.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz or which file I use, I always get the same result. I get stuck on the loading screen. WHEN IT ACTUALLY LOADS, I am stuck with the "Waiting for character to Spawn" screen. The damned game WILL NOT WORK. I DO NOT have ArmA X, and as you have already seen, this is not a STEAM version. This is strict Best-Buy retail. I get that this is an "Alfuaah" as I've used that same excuse to other posters. I get that I "did not pay for anything" and all, but really, I'm not the only one affected by this issue. Plenty of people on grouptalk in the sessions that actually worked have been putting up with this crap. Nobody's been helping with this issue, as if there is no real idea of why it's happening. I have extreme doubts that my character is corrupted. I also have extreme doubts that anything that's been happening has been the result of my own personal error. I've tried this with: "ARMA 2 Combined Operations" shortcut "arma2oa" shortcut, native from the "ArmA 2\Expansion\beta" pathway. "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" None of these have worked, and I have been met with the same result each time. None of the threads I have read elsewhere have decent answers, and none of the threads posted by administrators have had a solution to my issue. For those with the "TL;DR" disorder; Why my shit fucked up?

I've always hated the slow-moving zombies. It's a cheap method for having an advancing horde, and it doesn't really provide much filler. The idea that "you can only kill them with a shot to the head" is physiologically flawed as well, as any machinegun can literally cut a human body in half, and as a matter of fact, hydrostatic shock would play a factor in the destruction of the brain. All of the arguments for slow zombies are flawed. It would just make the game easy and incredibly unrealistic. In all reality, the zombies as they are now are preferable. The running speed counteracts their smaller groups and vulnerability. It's also a far more realistic fashion. If you want bullets to have a harder time killing them, make them "Dawn of the Dead 2004" zombies; shooting them anywhere but the head puts them into a coma, and they twitch on the ground for a few seconds (like a wounded human) when they're trying to get up. Slow zombies are only good in an illogical cinema.

At least you get to play the damn thing. Try being stuck on the loading screen every time you try to play...
