  1. Well that made no sense at all.

So should I be a bandit or a survivor?

Theres no such thing as a bandit or a survivor in this game. You either avoid other players or you kill them. Being naive and trying to ally with others will just get you killed. Everyone is a survivor.
  3. Deathmatch=die, respawn, die, respawn I don't think "spawn, sneak around town looting supplies, head north carefully checking every treeline and looting what you can along the way, maybe see other players and avoid them or try to sneak up on them and kill them" etc can be called a death match... you're just mad because you died.
  4. Obviously disconnecting is unintended and should not factor into any arguments here.

Really? What do the logs say that make you think it was me? I've played this game literally for a week mostly on your server. If you want to talk in pms or something i'd like to because I like playing on your server and I didn't do shit.
  6. The problem with sniping is nothing to do with the weapons. It's to do with the fact that the game naturally leans towards being as safe as possible and obviously sniper rifles are the best for this. Using most assault rifles you have to actually get within a few hundred meters to kill anyone which does not hold a candle to shooting people from 800+ meters away in terms of safety. CQC is risky, sniping is not.

    To all server admins

You act like being an admin gives them an advantage here... anyone can horde vehicles.

That's funny because the guy from TOG who was chatting with me in the lobby was an Aussie too. Lol If you think 200 ping is a lot you really have no idea what you're talking about. I assume you're too young to have ever actually experienced early 90's connections because pings were closer to 1000 than 200.

    This game feels neutered.

On Seattle 127 I can see literally all of Elektro from the biggest hill that overlooks it. I'd guess that's a little over 1km.

View distance is a server setting is it not? I have seen much further than 1.5km on a few servers

3 reasons for buying ArmA to play DayZ

I wouldn't recommend this game to my friends. Maybe in a few months or more when the hackers and bugs are fixed. It's play at your own risk right now, and i've lost 3 straight characters to hackers or bugs.

  14. The "engine" isnt terrible. The engine is over 5 years old' date=' do people that get this "game" for this "mod" even check what game they are getting? ArmA 3 is build on the same, but upgraded and modified engine ArmA 2 is. Because its a freaking awesome engine in terms of what you can do with it, what we play now, is jsut an old game. Pleease.... [/quote'] Yes it's an awesome engine where walking into stationary objects breaks your legs and hackers have free reign. I wonder what your standards for a good engine are. I have NEVER, EVER played a game as buggy and as vulnerable to hackers as Arma 2. None of these issues are in the actual ArmA 2 game, because its not a FEATURE IN THE GAME. In ArmA 2, "objects" such as players do not collide at speeds faster then what the game allows. They do in DayZ because zombies move quicker then normal units in the game. This is an issue with the mod, NOT THE GAME ENGINE Same thing goes for the mechanic of actually breaking legs, this does ot exist in the actual arma 2 game, so being under or in a vehicle in arma 2 would result in you dying, not breaking a leg. This can happen in any game where there is a desync between the client and the server. Please, before talking technical bs you know nothing of, go educate yourself. I love how you just made a post that once again reiterates the fact that the Arma 2 engine is not good enough for Day Z.

  16. Yep the mod is good but the engine is terrible and hackers are ridiculously prevalent. Maybe one day Day Z will have it's own engine constructed for it but right now there are far too many problems and you're basically "playing at your own risk"
  17. How the FUCK is giving fully geared players more gear "something to do?" Not too bright are you.
  18. Um none of your suggestions would make the game less "dull" for you... it's just giving you more gear for free. Not more things to do. Sounds like you're just lying.
  19. So yeah everyone on Seattle 127 just got ported into the sky over what appeared to the nw airfield and fell to their death. What.
  20. as I just told you ingame I was afk and just didn't leave the server. I was in mogilovka and died as well
  21. I've lost (almost) 2 characters in as many days to the same thing: every town I check there's no food/drink. First character: Made out like a bandit from Cherno with 4 cans of food & drink, an AK off someone he killed with a hatchet, and 2 morphine. Headed north, looting every town along the way. For 4 hours of game time and after looting about 7-8 small towns and 2 big ones, did not find a single can of drink or a water bottle. Died of thirst despite starting out with a huge reserve of drink. Second character: Left Elektro with only 1 cans of bean, 6 (!) cans of drink, a shotgun, but unfortunately no morphine as a sniper was watching the hospital. Headed to Cherno. Got morphine there, but was out of food and hungry. Met up with a friend who gave me some cooked steaks. We hunted players in Cherno for a bit then we seperated and I headed north, looting Vysota, Mogilovka, Staroye and Msta. Did not find ONE can of food. Right now i'm resigned to my death as I will die of hunger while travelling from Msta to Dolina (where there probably won't be any food anyway) Losing characters like this really sucks :(. I've yet to find a matchbox in this game that wasn't on another players corpse or tent.

Incredibly bad luck with food/drink can spawns

They're supposed to be common, but eventually all loot spawns get replaced by tin cans as more and more people filter thru towns, resulting in what happened to me in the OP
  23. crossbow effective range is like 50m. by no means is it good vs players

how to farm heli crash sites?

http://southcoastbeanwars.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Crashed-Heli-Map6.jpg If you find one though theres a very high chance they will already be looted. All 4 that i've found were already looted.
