How long do you live in your first lives?
Chimonanthus replied to Lewf's topic in New Player Discussion
First spawn was close to Elektro. I was a arma 2 vet so no problem there and I had seen enough videos to understand how to deal with zombies. Or so I thought because I died not long after finding my first weapon, a hatchet, due to too much fighting (tried defending another freshly spawned player) and lack of bandages. Although I felt sad, my character died with a smile on his face as the other player lived on. First life must have lasted around 40 minutes (yeah, I was very slow-stealthy at the time) -
I like where this thread is going. Let's talk about cats now.

Making your character go to sleep (with an animation) when you log out for like 2 minutes could solve the problem. It would give pretty much anyone the time to finish you off or at least give those tons of zombies chasing you the time to kill your character while you're "out". Would also need some kinda function that makes you unable to login in another server for some time after you disconnected from one (so that your body in the original server has the time to disapear). EDIT: Yeah, I suppose everything will be solved in the standalone.

As soon as I linked "killing bambis" and "now im bored alone", I had some dark ideas going through my mind thinking about all the times I was shot at for no reason...

Roleplay is dead as long as surviving remains too easy. A wasted bandage in the end.

Hero bandits and humanity
Chimonanthus replied to chris p. bacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I've got the same scenario happening to me. The debug monitor just doesn't show the real humanity score linked to your ip character. And yes, its confirmed that heroes will gain humanity with time. Even you can see it by showing the debug monitor and you'll see your score go up from 0 with time (it'll go up 150 every X amount of time I think) -

Get ready to cry some moar, because, whenever you care what I think, when the standalone gets out, that shit will probably be solved. http://www.deviantart.com/download/81418278/CRY_SOME_MORE_by_Digicaek.png -

Interesting, but since there is a bug with camos and humanity, I'm gonna be keeping the hero skin until I see a video showing someone switching from hero to ghillie, and back to hero with no problem. The road to obtain this skin was a rage-fest for me.
-
Update : I still have the hero skin. Everything seems fine except the humanity score showing 0 every time I get in a server.
-
Good luck :) (tip of the day : once you gain the hero skin, do some more good deads before logging out as you may lose your hero skin because of a humanity bug)

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Chimonanthus replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
:o fast repply. Great :D Actually, I had some good and bad experiences. Some servers I went in were filled with them, some had them occasionally. I agree it's nothing of a game breaking problem but it is an hassle, especially for those of us who dislike server hoping. I believe making it impossible to put them around some areas (like big cities) would solve the problem. I'm thinking about something along the same way they make it zone restricted to harvest wood. -

The thing is the spawn reset isn't realistic. You would make yourself a base at a firestation because it has a nest, but you wouldn't happen to have guns appearing randomly in your camp. The problem is it limits other's players experience when someone had access to a loot spawn, blocked the entrance, and someone that came after did not. It's not fair at all. I have no problem with people placing tents up high buildings and barricading the thing, but when it limits the access to loot spawns, there's a problem. -

I'm going the repeat what I've said countless time : I suggest we promote the opposite of that. The close combat is supposed to be the closest possible to real life (Arma2 is a simulation game guys, ever heard about it?) and I agree with the difficulty that comes from it. I say, make the sniping a living hell. The land of Chernarus is filled with open fields, it should be very windy to compensate the danger factor (windy enough for 12 year old snipers on the hills overlooking the airfield to be unable to shoot at someone properly without being patient and using their wits). Also, make us marksmans need to take care of our gun. The wannabe snipers should have to work hard to access the advantages of long range precision shots. That should solve the problem of the sniper overpopulation. That kind of stuff is probably not coming in the mod :( maybe the standalone. -

As the other guys said, that's very kind of you :) Let's all hope the owner isn't a 12 year old bandit... -
This happened to me three times. One thing did solve it for me tonight (I will update on if it still works tomorrow). After getting the hero skin for the fourth time, I went and did more good deads (had more teammates that required blood transfusion). Result for me: Kept the skin after logging off and going back in, but the humanity score shows 0 every time I log in.

That's pretty far from the cannibals seen in The Walking Dead part 2. Not sure all cannibals are acting in the same way. And forget the thing about limiting primary weapons to hatchets for some players, Rocket will never go with it.
