Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update
Chimonanthus replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Rocket confirmed the patch included a solution for tent saving. People said previously in another thread that tents still didn't work. Can somebody please confirm if it's working or not? (I'd test it but I don't own a server and the server my tent is in didn't update yet). -
Can someone recommend servers where tents are saving?
Chimonanthus replied to xLevel23_'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You will not be able to join a server using another version than yours. So yeah, you'll need to change your DayZ version to 1.7.2.4 to play on servers with working tents and vehicles. -

If Rocket is gonna add dogs then i want a pet rabbit!

o_o Its a secret message from Rocket. I think it's saying we will also be able to mount dragons for the 2.0 patch of the official standalone game. -
I will never adopt the kill on site mentality

Once you've played video games as long as I did, you get seriously bored of shooting people, even in Arma 2. I'm thinking this game's community is about people who want to roleplay and people that want to get a good k/d. As long as the game can be considered deathmatch like (as it's very easy to just grab a gun and survive while shooting other players), we won't be able to arrive to one conception of the game (which will lead to a good ratio of survivor/bandit). For a solution, I suggest more numerous and more dangerous zombies. And less loot. Sociopaths are gonna have a tougher life. Survivors will just find the game more exciting. -
Searching for an anti-bandit clan

I'm sure clans would be interested in which time zone you live so it makes it easier to play together and to ensure you the best connection to the server. -

And that's why one day the Colliseum will be back... or something like Hunger Games or Gamer. -

I had the same conclusion than you over how the game changed with time. Main problem is people are too focussed on killing instead of surviving (trust me, it's VERY easy to survive if you evade players and have a tent, some bottles of water and the tools to gather and cook food from animals). Altough Rocket has always been trying to give players the freedom to do whatever they want, it's getting clear now that bandits (including shoot on sight survivors) don't try to act as in a zombie apocalypse but rather as a hunger game scenario because it just doesn't feel like a tough world. Cooperation with strangers isn't required to survive and shooting people has no real consequences (zombies are a joke of a threat, I feel more confortable with 20 of them running for me than with a player with a makarov at 300 meters looking away from me). Guns are also very common so the new players from Bf3 and Cod just assume it's fun to "be 1337 with 51CK H34D5H0T5!" Most people assume the fun of dayz stops at being the last to survive. -

Too many peple bought Arma2 for DayZ without being hardcore gamers (people who want to enjoy their games the most they possibly can) while DayZ was intended for these people. Many people came to this game thinking it'd be about surviving alone or with your friends. They can't understand the real fun is with the social interactions with other players. There are two kinds of "bandits" : 1 - Murderers/sociopaths 2 - actual Bandits (he is going to try to get your stuff without killing you by threatening you). One way has very little risk of danger. The other one is very risky considering how easy it is for players to just turn around and aim at you when you try to threaten them. People will always take the easy way. Bandits should be players willing to roleplay. Murderers should stick to Battlefield 3 and CoD. I'm hoping Dean will make the game harder in the standalone...

http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/obama-not-bad-face.jpg So puting a marker on any map makes it visible for every maps in the server?

Your right, my mistake (except for the Facts of Rocket's life part, I didn't see any point related to what I said, I always precised Rocket was the one to have the final word). I stupidly considered using the word "cheating" wouldnt make any trouble but I shouldve said the right words. I think it can give an unfair power in some situations. Clear enough? I understand I must have hurt you very much to bring you to call people narrowminded people and trolls in a suggestion thread instead of Private messages. Please, http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/316/773/59d.jpg . [You called me a troll. I was butthurt myself, I had to troll ;P No real offense intended]

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell

Lol, I agree with all you guys and I suggest we level up a bit the bid. How about 30 seconds during which your character stays there and you could not log in any server until your character disapears in the original server?

please ad kill rewards on the game

Your right... If some people want to play games where "cheating"(call it what you want) is possible, sure. Let's not talk about this anymore and let's give them the choice. Sorry for the trouble guys

(...) It isn't really overpowered if everyone can do it. It's your choice to give yourself a handicap by staying in 1st person' date=' but that doesn't mean other people have to. Besides, the game isn't 100% realistic;if it was, it wouldn't be fun. It gives some liberties for gameplay and this is one of them. [/quote'] I would agree with you only if I didn't disagree with you first statement. It is overpowered when used correctly. Imagine a building with hallways forming a "H". You're on the left vertical way planning to go to the right side of the building. The enemy is on the upper side of the right side. EVERYONE is using 3rd person. The enemy is a bandit camping a rare loot building and his third person view allows him to see you walking in the middle hallway. You are very careful and you're not even making a sound but your third person doesn't allow you to know there is a player in front of you "looking at you". You should realize the rest: the enemy pops his head out and sprays his bullets into you before you get the time to point him if you weren't looking exactly where his head would pop out. Third person becomes a sort of X-ray vision cheat when both opponents are at close distance where they could normally easily spot each other. A situation where both players wouldve been forced to pop their head out to make sure the hallway is clear (if they are both careful and tactical survivors) and see each other would make it far more fair. I understand the pleasures of Third Person view, I really do. But I believe that in a game where you need so few bullets to take a player down, "Xray" + surprise is overpowered. I suggest they lower the distance of the camera in third person view to a minimum. At least show some body part when peeping through a hallway. What do you guys think?

Try changing the key for ToggleView to something else and try that new one. Although it doesn't solve the problem at long-term, it might at least let you use it.
