  1. Ya I've had this issue too. I think it's that you can't fav from the "remote" join tab ingame add 213hybrid on steam. That's me. Then I'll join the server and you can go to the friends tab and then cluck the server and them hit favorite. That's the only way it worked for me.
  2. Not sure why it would be against the rules to keep posting. :) my guess as to why population dived is because of the announcement of a new patch. It's an ebb and flow. Also many people who like hardcore servers are also the types to install the experimental patch and play it. I'm thinking server pop will rise a lot once the patch comes on the 5th 1st - I 100% understand exactly what you are talking about. 2nd - I'm the only admin and most likely will be the only admin. 3rd - I have no reason to do the actions you are describing. As long as you aren't hacking, racist, or discriminatory you won't be kicked or banned. I've had the server for over a month and have kicked a single person because his name was n***a. I don't expect you to just take my word but I believe wholeheartedly that a server like this can be completely community policed. Don't like someone's RP? Don't play with them. Someone being an idiot repeatedly? The server will slowly realize it and shun them naturally. Will there be drama? Sure. It's human nature. Will it be admin related? Nope :). If someone is giving you drama, shoot them but realize they may shoot you back later lol. Teamspeak is separate and heavily moderated. If you cannot be respectful, know the boundaries between video game and real life, and act mature then yes you will be banned. But that is because teamspeak is a right, not a privilege. Settle shit on the server, not shouting over voice comms to everyone. By the way. Server is light RP. It is not forced, it is not policed. You will get occasionally killed on sight. It's dayz, not D&D.
  3. Hah I've had some run ins with them. Solid bandit/military play. I'd love to chat with them and welcome them to the community and thank them for numerous firefights. Teamspeak is always open for 18+ and if you play on the server your bound to run into some interesting people. Wow super kind words. I'm sure everyone in our community appreciates hearing them. Dayz can be much more depending on the people involved. I'm hoping we continue to add new faces to the server.
  4. Sometimes the only way to get people to stop and listen is to threaten them. Also I was new to this. This was literally the first time I was trying out this role. I wanted to bandage him and apologize. Tbh, right now new spawns gain too much from going aggro ASAP. Fists are OP and if anyone gets within 5 meters or so they can easily kill you. I state warnings to set expectations. I'm not naive. But you are right I was a bit too aggro those first vids.

......its 143am and im tired ..... why did i find this thread .... oh well .. i dont need sleep ... jury duty at 8am tomorrow ... fml
  6. I am trying to figure out why the server seems to restart more often than 4 hours. I am the only admin and I never restart it since it is scheduled to restart every 4 hours.
  7. Odin, yet again excellent photography and storytelling. The server has been hopping the past couple days. We went from 900th rank to 155th in 3 days. Server is still deadly, we had a crazy 45 min firefight at NEAF yesterday. I flanked through the mountain just in time to watch a buddy get shot and their assailants running away through the nearby city.
  8. Ya, its 720p coming from twitch. So here is pretty much the only way anyone can stream dayz. You have to use OBS + Intel Quick Sync. But Intel Quick Sync isnt great yet and causes some choppiness. Well, the only way to improve that is to stream at a higher bit rate, which I can do but viewers cannot watch it because 1) a lot of viewers dont have 10+mB dl speed and 2) twitch isnt doing a very good job buffering as well as they do not allow you to stream at too high a bit rate (cause it takes a much higher toll on their bandwidth). Due to this, there is artifacting and a bit chop in the stream. The stream vid is then backed up on twitch's website, where I can easily cut out a vid into whats called a "highlight". That highlight is then sent to youtube and turned into a vid. Thus the degradation is taken a bit further. I have not had much time to figure out how to improve the quality since 1) intel quick sync is pretty freakin new and very very beta and 2) I dont make money off of this stuff so therefore cannot afford separate rendering software that YT let's play people use. (I cannot stream AND record directly to harddrive since that would be like doing two streams in one and streaming is already WAY hard on your computer. I have a core I7 3770k, GTX 570, and 16 gigs of ram. I can bump up the quality but then I lose fps which in a game like dayz = death.
  9. I pretty much agree with everything. Two main things - 1: the server will 100% be private hive ASAP. 2: this is a community driven thing. The community together is paying for it, not just me, and the community drives player involvement through interactions on the server and word of mouth. I'd love to have the server at max server slots all the time (sky is the limit) though thus will always be directly tied to donation amounts. No clue if we will need to whitelist. I doubt it after private hives become available.
  10. I posted this on the Facebook page but thought it should be here as well. So let's talk about the future of the dayz server. Our personal goals, what we all want it to look like, and what we get enjoyment out of (this also means viewer enjoyment from the stream so even if you don't play your opinion is important). I'll go first but in no way am I saying that this is what will happen. We have several options. We are currently very limited in the control we have over server specifics like banning, whitelisting/private environment, etc. We can however do things in many different ways. I see a few key ones being most popular but am very open to other ideas. 1 - roleplay centered. This would be what we currently have. People have backstories, they interact at their own comfort level, stories perpetuate, fun is had. This seems to be on a more individual basis with small encounters. Current dayz game mechanics makes this kind of play difficult with random players and casual players. This also can give the illusion of th server being a no-KOS server thus limiting our actual combat fun. 2 - clan/group centered. This is the default community of dayz IMO. Groups form and have no backstories, operate on their own goals but typically this is limited to resource hording then large scale combat and then back to hording. Can be very fun but also kind of lacks end game potential and creativity. The game currently supports this much more than #1. 3 - a hybrid of 1 and 2. This would de-emphasize the individual stories of 1 but give purpose and depth to 2. Individual stories can persist beyond allegiances and can even function as reasons or evidence to support invasions, political intrigue, conflicts on a larger scale, or more. This lets the people who prefer 1 cohabitate with 2. Essentially view this option as the EVE system with added RP elements like group/clan backstories, goals, and depth. Examples could be merc groups, assassin groups, mad max style gangs controlling roadways, roaming bounty hunters, military groups, hermits, medics, scientists, etc. They would interact on a larger scale than scenario 1 would allow but some of the depth and creativity of 1 may be lost in the gameplay elements of 2 such as higher KOS (until you learned where not to travel or how to tell different groups apart), less in character talk/storytelling, etc. This style is moderately supported currently ingame tho the random new players may be confused until they learn the ropes. This would be my personal favorite but again, my opinion doesn't matter. I need thoughts from the community since the happier we all are, the more fun we have in game.
  11. We may be getting a huge EU group playing named the Wasteland Enforcers. If you see any WE tags ingame head to elektro Iran hop in teamspeak and talk to their leader named Mortem

  13. Nice! A few other community members have a merc group forming soon on teamspeak. If you are interested in teaming up with some of them for larger contracts talk to Hemperor in teamspeak. And welcome in soldier.
  14. Oh snap! Pretty freakin cool man! I will be sure to keep an eye out for you and if you have any questions or wanna just chill feel free to come into teamspeak. You actually may find some of those texts a bit contested. . . we have a few book fiends running around who may have plans of their own with those books.
  15. Woah who was it that you heard talking? There was a bug at launch where you could hear an "omnipotent" speaker but I thought that was fixed. I was most likely not the speaker, we had another player named Lorax who we thought was having that issue and then we thought it was his 2nd mic turning on in dayz proccing in teamspeak. Whatever the case, global voice chat is not an option I have control over and is a bug. If it is ever happening, I recommend muting people by hitting P in game and then clicking on any player's name and clicking Mute. Then, after finding who is the global mic speaker unmuting everyone but him/her. I havent run into this bug since before 357s were added. My ingame name is typically Berezino Lawman if I am playing as the sheriff of Berezino. If I am not playing nice or playing a different background my name will be different. Feel free to add me on steam at 213Hybrid and message me when people are global speaking. I will compile a list and submit a bug form.
  16. Glad to hear the server is working well for you. Had some issues last night with crashing but they are fixing it. Perma-day means the server starts at noon, runs 4 hours to 4pm and restarts back to noon. So all daylight ingame for all of our real life day. Hardcore and Regular in fact do have different character saves. So when you log on my server, you will either have your stuff from a past HC server or be a fresh spawn. Then log back on a regular server and you will have that stuff. It's called separate hives. Lol yup, it's dayz friend and Balota is a far way from Berezino. I hope you didn't get the impression the server is not KOS. There are some evil types out there. Oh and feel free to sheriff Balota if you wish ;). Hope you still had some fun Flak.
  17. Ah I can see how you could think that. Sorry to have upset you so much. You do realize that those vids were from a stream right? I am on cam talking to a room full of people. I am also getting used to RPing through dayz and your criticism that I could have called us the police force was appropriate. A bit of backstory on those vids. They all happened within about 4 hours in one day. With the exception of one person, everyone else was new/random and not viewers. Therefore, they were not technically part of the police yet, they were basically citizens who were drafted. Are you familiar with streams? Do you watch them or like them? Not being rude just an honest question. Streams are inherently personal and if viewed out of context they can be awkward. Liking or not liking the vids isn't really a good reason to dislike the community. Don't penalize all of them simply because you think I'm on a power trip (which I'm not). It's very hard to maintain a stream, a community, and still play dayz. There are a lot of things going on. I'm not perfect, I'm not a pro, I do it for free since I don't make any money from either twitch or youtube. I stream to meet new people and share hilarious events. Our community is above the stream. My intent was never to portray me as the center of attention. Inevitably this can happen and I think your criticisms have merit. I'll make sure to be more aware of how this can be miscommunication by an outside viewer. Basically I understand if you dislike me from a few shirt vids you've seen but don't dislike our community based off that. Feel free to come by, talk to everyone in teamspeak, and ignore or shoot me :)
  18. It means we have a separate character save system than Regular servers. It also means forced 1st person only. Other than that nothing else. .. simply means those who farm guns on 3pp servers cant play on ours. Hopefully this means less CoD kiddies who rely on 3pp will jump on our servers. In the future, HC may mean something more.
  19. I have no clue how to turn on these options. Anyone with gameserver who can help would be greatly appreciated!
  20. I had to message my support staff and they had to manually edit my UI to include Regular/Hardcore toggle and time of day. All fixed .. if you are having issues with gameservers open a support ticket .. took about an hour or so for them to reply
  21. Server is now updated to Hardcore 1st person only perma-day.
  22. Okay. Server is now set to daytime noon and is now hardcore hive and 1st person only. Turns out I'm a moron and gameservers was fine....user error.
  23. Ya it will be hardcore I guess ASAP. Currently gameservers are being bad server hosts and I can't even make my server 1st person only.
  24. thanks for the quick responses. I dont understand why I cannot have private hive + 1st person only w/out making the server "hardcore". ...... that would require day/night cycle and that KILLS a server's population currently. I also stream and cannot have the server be nighttime for the entire duration of my nightly stream.
