Why do you have to get punished for the game failing?
Crayolacrayon replied to Smotix's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't even understand how it could land itself in the first place in my experience hitting the ground at anything more that 2m/s will severely damage the helicopter. My condolences on your lost helicopter though. -
I just concluded a trade with these gentlemen and they were amicable and fair.

Saving a car only saves it's inventory not it's location. Also cars in 1.7.2.5 reset to their original spawn location upon server restarts.

All players with vehicles are hackers?
Crayolacrayon replied to CrimsonRisk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is no way that 11 vehicles is the limit for a server. My two friends and I at one point had 7 different vehicles at one time before 1.7.2.5 began eating cars. -
Also make sure you are playing on servers with a low ping for you.

I will never adopt the kill on site mentality
Crayolacrayon replied to Justine42's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I believe in humanity just not anonymity over the internet in a computer game. I'm a pragmatist when I first started playing this game many months ago I said I'd never shoot anyone unless it was in self defense and for the most part when I met strangers in the game they didn't shoot they either played with you a little while or you parted ways. However over the life cycle of the mod the action of shooting on sight spread at first mostly due to boredom from earlier players not having a challenge in the game anymore and went on to forever changed the culture of the game. During the many months of playing my friends and I have had to adapt our play styles to the changing conditions. We once were like you but now we are survivors in the game and understand the unwritten rules. For your future in this game you could hold true to what you believe but eventually you'll get fed up with dying to random acts of violence and have to make a choice; perhaps in time you'll turn out like we did, you may yet even become a bandit or the most probable if you stick to completely trusting strangers on the internet is that you'll just give up on the game. -
I will never adopt the kill on site mentality
Crayolacrayon replied to Justine42's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My friends and I only shoot if other players if they are a possible threat to us. If your looting a town we want to loot, then we have to get rid of you sorry :(.However If you are 300m away in the middle of nowhere going in a different direction you are not a threat to us so we leave you be. We've had to adopt this posture of proactive defense because it's too dangerous to trust unknown people. We have been burned by our trusting nature far too much. -
The ability to move dead bodies.
Crayolacrayon replied to VBS.Redlof.B's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I want something predator style so we can string up bandit bodies from trees near our camp as a warning. -
Sometimes the option will never come up and you have to get on the ATV and drive it forward a foot to fix it.

Flashlight still not working?
Crayolacrayon replied to LukeSkywalkers's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You could try rebinding it to another key. Also somehow the in game time could be all wonky and the server thinks it's daytime in which case flashlights don't turn on; try some other night time servers and see if the flashlight still won't work. -
Just leave your game on for a while then. You'll die of starvation or dehydration eventually.

My friends and I have got a large camp with multiple vehicles that no one has stumbled across for over 2 months. The beauty of the camp is that you have to be withing 100m to even have a chance of seeing one of the vehicles and since we own the sky we don't have to worry about it being found in that manner.

I have a simple question how do you go about re-arming helicopter door guns in Dayz? Do they reset their ammo on server restart or can you manually refill them because we have a stockpile of 240 ammo and couldn't find a way to load it in.

how long for dead bodies to despawn
Crayolacrayon replied to michlschnitte's topic in New Player Discussion
Yea for bodies it's until the server restarts as for items on the ground I believe I read that it's 15 minutes but in my experience it's until the server restarts as well. -
The problem your having with spawning on the coasts is because your joining servers that are running different versions of the current version of the game and or beta patch. If you got dayzcommander and then clicked all the hide options on the left it will only show servers compatible with your current version. Once I did that I haven't spawned in on the coast again.

I've had a camp on a decently populated server for well over a month with multiple vehicles and tents and it's yet to be found. It's still possible that my camp can be found but it is extremely unlikely. Also as a proud owner of a helicopter no one besides us has a camp that is mostly safe on the server we play on. It doesn't take a long time to cover vast distances and tents and vehicles stick out like sore thumbs from 200ft up.

My friends and I were wondering wouldn't it be grand for the victors of firefights to be able to gut their enemies and feast on their enemies flesh. You could have human meat and cooked human meat with some possible nasty side effects including sickness, the shakes and unconsciousness.

Well that may be true about the three games but the reason for banning Fallout 3 which is what I was remembering at the time is as follows. " UPDATE: Australia's OFLC has provided GameSpot AU with a copy of its Board's ruling on Fallout 3, which states that the game was indeed refused classification because it contains "material promoting or encouraging proscribed drug use". In its ruling, the OFLC states that "the game contains the option to take a variety of drugs known as chems using a device which is connected to the character's arm." "These chems have postive and some negative effects (lowering of intelligence, or the character may become addicted to the chem). The positive effects include increase in strength, stamina, resistance to damage, agility, and hit points. Corresponding with the list of various chems are small visual representations of the drugs; these include syringes, tablets, pill bottles, a crack-type pipe, and blister packs. In the Board's view, these realistic visual representation of drugs and their delivery method bring the 'science-fiction' drugs in line with 'real-world' drugs. "The player can also select and use Morphine (a proscribed drug) which has the positive effect of enabling the character to ignore limb pain when the character's extremities are targeted by the enemy." In Fallout 1 and 2, players could take a wide range of drugs both to boost health and character attributes. Both games were freely available for sale in Australia and were rated M. And despite the violence in the game, the OFLC's ruling is solely concerned with drug use in Fallout 3. In the ruling, the OFLC states that "the violence throughout the game could be accommodated at an MA 15+ level of classification"." Now back to the discussion of the original topic please.

Well we tried every method of reloading it unfortunately we can't test if it refills on server restart because our server has the issue where vehicles don't save their location when the server is restarted. We just know where the helicopter spawns and log out with the items required to fix it upon the next server restart.
-
Well that makes sense Australia does ban games for things as menial as vague drug references.
-
Well you can't always find cows and some human meat could help heal any wounds you sustained. I'm not saying that it would become a staple just something to add variety. Eating human meat could also affect your humanity meter.

That's just disappointing so my friends and I didn't just win the game? We'll only get to look cool and get shot at?

Remove Tents And Kill Everyone (A Fresh Start)
Crayolacrayon replied to Talon2000uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As a person who is in a group that has backup gear and backup gear for that gear and so on and so forth with vehicles spread across multiple servers I fully support this notion albeit it's only a temporary fix. -
Does anyone have any information on whether or not there is a set time period where if you switch servers that spawning on the coast occurs? It's happened to me several times and I have just resolved to play on one server but strange things have been happening on our main server US1306 with vehicles and tents. My friends and I are wanting to move to a new server but we want to actually be able to transfer the lion's share of our gear to the new server without being teleported to the coast. I'm going to begin experimenting with staying logged off a server for several hour before switching in the hopes that I don't get teleported; if not my friends have a long car ride to get me.

I leave mine up when I go to sleep but my guy is always dead from starvation and dehydration the next day. :(
