Found a Pristine Walkie Talkie, any use for it?
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to RockerJC's topic in Gallery
I found one as well, and cant find any use for it yet. So I guess we just have to wait and see when they add the actual walkie talkie feature. -
Adaptive Artificial Intelligence for Zombies
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to melancholymastermind's topic in Suggestions
Since I think they are considered infected and not "braindead" zombies, I suppose they could adapt to new circumstancse. Deends where Rocket and histeam is going in regards to the infected/zeds/zombies/ those guys who wants to kill you but arent players -
Sounds like its nicetime. So get that flashlight out of your pants, attach your 9v battery to it and get moving.

suggeston for SA - BEARS!!!!!
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to Fragsponge's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Maby every player is infected then, that would explain why everyone is so agressive in game ^^ -
This is just a suggestion. Its not completly thought though. If it has been suggested before, I havent been able to find it anywhere. Suggestion: To be able to apply pressure to a wound To get straight into it, an interesting thing for the standalone regarding first aid and bleeding, would be the ability to apply pressure to a wound. The essence of the idea would be that you will have an option to apply pressure to a wound in order to reduce blood loss. The trade off would be that you use your hands to do so, leaveing you unable to use your wepons. Since the SA (as far as I understand) will be able to detect where damage occurs on the body, there could be different animations and different tradeoffs for each area of the body. Example 1: Your right arm has been damaged and is bleeding, you can apply pressure with your left hand, reducing bloodloss and still be able to walk. Example 2: Your left leg has been damaged and your bleeding. You can aply pressure with both your hands and either be able to stand still or sit down to conserve more blood, or be able to limp away, though that will lessen the amount of blood you can save by applying pressure (If that makes sense?) Example 3: Your hit in the torso and is bleeding. You can roll over on your back and apply pressure with both your hands, unable to move. This will all be dependent on how sophisicated they decide to make the body and first aid system of course. If vital organs is going to be included, that will of course change the premisis of this suggestion. The basic idea is just that if you find yourself with partners, and your are bleeding but maby have run out of bandages (since they arent gonna be all over the place in the SA), you might want to reduce the amount of blood your loosing until you can recieve help. So in overall it could add futher to the teamplayer experience. Also, I could see it as an interesting player interaction, if you bump into a person in a building who defenseless, trying to save his life. Some might consider it an easy kill, while others would see it as a possibility to help another player. So yea, thats pretty much it…

Apply pressure to a wound
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to thomas-tk@live.dk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree completly that you would get most out of being stationary since moving around increse your blood circulation. But if you are wounded in the arm, I could still see you have the option to move around, at the cost of you loosing more blood than being stationary. -
Ill have to be honest. For a moment I actually thought this was your suggestion for the game. It seemed like you had put a bit of thought into it. Fortunatly, soon after I realized that only a troll would come up with a suggestion like this. Or maby its a parasite that has taken over your brain... im not sure. If it is a parasite, then you are excused... you will still have to be put down though. We cant risk that it spreads to others.

Easy now, Inception. You end up sounding all mature and grown up when you talk like it. If this discussion goes on much further you might ruin your reputation of being childish. Have some more :beans:, you seem to grow from them ;)

Kozak, because apparently it origins back to the word cosac which means "a free man, specifically an individual who could not find his appropriate place in sociaty and went into the steppes, where he acknowleged no authority". So since sociaty is none excisting in the apocalyps, and i prefer the wast open areas of nature with no cities, it all seemed quite appropriate. And since I so far havet met an authority I could acknowledge in dayz i consider myself a free man, so the quote from wikipedia was spot on in my opinion. And "Kozak" seemed quite appropriate to a post-sovjet setting anyway.

Beginner survival tip
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to ShadowSurvival's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So, your new on the forum and your second post is about how new players should approach the game? I dont want to judge you for it, but many of the things you have mentioned are quite obvious and if new players havent already looked up all the facts on where to find what gear, I am sure they are going to find out just fine by themselves, as we did when the game came out. You have propably written the post with the best of intentions, but you might have wanted to add some more "tips" on things that you have learned from experience? And also, to sum up, eople will shoot you for no reason what so ever. Not because of the way you walk, talk look or what gear you have. But because some people just want to watch the world burn. -
Hope to see standalone a little more RPG, a little less FPS
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to OldMoto's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If its has to be more in the RPG genre, as you suggest, it will be more "role-playing" right, and not so much about (hopefully) engaging yourself in the game, but much more to put on a role. -
Just my 2 cents As it has been said already, its more a question of actual maturity rather than a specific age. 13 year olds can be as mature as 30 year olds and 43 year olds... well... Orlok said it himself. The gore in the game is really of no concern at all. You see more gore walking home from school than you see in this game. On the other hand I would like to point out that I do think it takes some emotional maturity to play this game. We all know we dont really get emotionally attached to the usual FPS games. It dosent seem that people care to much for their Battlefield "avatar" anyway. But in Dayz you seem to get more attached to your player and you will have interactions with other players that you wont have experienced in any other game. I dont want to sound grumpy or old, I just want to point out that it does take some kind of maturity to play the game (I dont talk about behaving as a mature person, but more to be mentally mature... there is a difference). So to sum it up, I wont blindly recommend a 12 yo guy to play the game, but then again, I dont know you. So if your mature enough for it, good on you. And I am not going to lie to you, it is an awesome game. (And I dont need another person to be a kill on sight person just because he cant engage in any other interactions in the game. But thats a whole different discussion)

Cant understand KOS moaners :s
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To be honest, when i first read the headline, I thought it was going to be another post about moaning about moaners. But you do actually bring up a valid point. In the end, as it has already been said, if you want to avoid getting shot, you watch your back, think carefully, control the situation you are in, engage... not mostly with wepons but with conversation and interaction when you have to, and all in all think before you act. Running around like a maniac in the open is only going to lead to one thing. -
Well, I once read some military related "murphys laws" which i would think applies quite well with Dayz. There is no such thing as a perfect plan. Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you. Anything you do can get you killed, including nothing No matter which way you have to march, its always uphill.

What guns would you like to see in SA?
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to WBK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just give me the crossbow. -
Making everyone spawn on the back does that the NWAF becomes the goal for everyone, since the place with the highest amount of military loot is equally far away from everyone. After all, noone forces anyone to go to either Cherno or Electro. People can stay clear of the big cities and still survive. If we have poeple spawning all over Chernarus, some will faster get to the high end spawns than others.
-
The interesting part with Dayz is that that when you see a survivors/bandit/hero, you know that there is an actual person controlling that character. The whole charm with Dayz is to know that whenever you see a human character, its not an npc, but a player with an unlimited amount of possible interactions. To have NPC´s roam around would kill that kind of high adrenalin kick you get each time you see another player in my opinion, so I hope that NPC´s will stay clear of the SA.

One word: No!

We cant just say that 16 jerrycans is equal an AS50... because its not. Its much easier to find 16 jerrricans than an AS50. Second of all, without any kind of money, prices are based on the need for a certain item, not a fixed price.

Any NY servers for noobs?
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to Bombel (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
My suggestion to you is that if you keep getting shot in Cherno and Electro... then avoid these cities. Run past them and take some of the smaller town and villages on the road towards Stary Sobor and NWAF. As of now you are mostly bound to get shot even when you dont have a wepon, so try to stay out of trouble until you can defend yourself. I cant suggest any servers to you, but just get into the game, stay out of trouble and learn from your mistakes. -
No classes. End of story.

How much realism is too much for the SA?
thomas-tk@live.dk replied to Tunusa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Would you care to elaborate on that? I dont quite see the connection between the amout of realism in a game about the apocalyps, and going outside to take a walk or do mountain biking. Why cant I have both? -

thomas-tk@live.dk replied to Tunusa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To be honest, I find it alittle unfair of you to use examples as removing a splinter, or looking for toilet paper. I get your point with spending quite some time on things that are "basic" stuff, that be hunting, gathering parts and general scavenging. The whole realism part of dayz is, in my opinion, what what Rockets whole intention with the game. I find it just as fun as having to take good care of my character and all the time be on my toes for eventual encounters or events, as it is to run around in BF3 shooting bullets everywhere. The realism part I find extremely refreshing compared to the rest of the games on the market which focus more and more on fast paced FPS. A game will never be comletely realistic, but I personally look forward to a game with as many realistic elements as it seems Rocket has intentet to implement.
