  1. Running through open fields. Shooting zeds rather than using melee and all the unnecessary noise making in dangerous areas. Eating/drinking/checking map/sorting inventory when you're not in the cover. Starting a firefight: when you have no cover around you; when you have a shitty gun that you can't use; trying to snipe when you have no clue what weapon zeroing is; when you have no chance of winning; with a bunch of innacurate shots; when you're about to loose los to your target in 2s. Dicking around in towns/villages/military spots. Shouting "friendly" when you spot someone in NWAF.
  2. Yeah, I give them to my teammates if they die and have no weapon.

Interesting. I was playing in the evening yesterday and my character was getting cold a bit so that might be it. My jacket went from pristine to ruined in about 5 zombie hits. For sway I tested Blaze 95. Fully rested and prone. I'd say it was reliable up to 100m, a bit unpredictable between 100-200m and anything past that was more about luck than anything else.

Zeds have the perfect eyesight but they are almost deaf. I was able to get behind a zed, walk towards him and smash him in the head without any aggro. Couple of times zed charging me went invisible for a second and then reappeared. Couldn't find any ammo in civilian spawns, backpacks also seem to be more rare. Zeds will ruin your pants/jacket in just a few hits. Nothing changed here. I also have the feeling that after 200mb+ patch I need to eat more often. Oh, weapon sway still broken as fck.
  5. You can enjoy the game just fine playing on 1pp servers but you rather suggest that everyone is forced to play the game "your way". Whether we like it or not some people like current 3pp. We can either keep bitching about it or happily sit on 1pp servers. Guess which option did I choose? Heh, typical.
  6. Looks like it will turn into another flamewar really soon with the usuall whines: 3rd person is for noobs, lets force people into playing 1st person. Honestly, I don't get it OP: You can choose between 1st person only and 1st/3rd person servers. If you want you can stay on 1st person only forever. If you don't like 3rd person, don't play it, why the hell suggest changes to it? Oh, and btw: I play both types of servers. They aren't that different, so I don't care.

I've got 2 working servers in my region atm. Both are full. I've had a really hard time playing yesterday with all the disconnects and crashing. Anyway, here are my thoughts: Zed aggro got crazy again. They can see you from very far away even if you crouch walk or crawl. I'm not sure if they can randomly hear you or just can see through walls. I tried testing their hearing by sneaking behind a zed that was facing away from me. He didn't aggro even when I tried running behind him. On the other hand I've had a couple of situations when I was inside a building looking for loot and zeds would suddenly run to me from 50m away. Melee is bad, srsly. Pitchfork has new animation but also deals no damage most of the time. Shovel works fine, kinda slow swings. Baseball bat hits lower than when you aim. You need to look almost directly up if you want to hit a zed in the head. I was more successfull defendin myself with fists than melee, although there is a weird inconsistence aswell: sometimes zeds fall down after one hit to the head, other times they take 10 and don't care.
  8. You should loot the military spots in SA in the same way you do your shopping as a man: get in, get your shit and get out. Even better: send a women to do it while you enjoy a cold beer.

My mistake I thought testing was about reporting bugs and giving our opinions. How come, whenever someone says that he likes something about SA nobody shouts: "Alpha! The thing you like might be changed by the time SA gets released." Double standards?

Don't put the words in my mouth. It's not absolutely broken but it has some serious issues that concern me. The really interesting thing, though, is how some people still feel that "Alpha" is ultimate answer for every question.

But you really want to have a solid foundation, walls, etc. before you start adding other things. If the walls have cracks in them and the roof is leaking I won't just add few cupboards for the kitchen and a carpet that just looked to cool to ignore it. Gotta have priorities. It might work extremly different in game developement, but I'm really concerned when I see bugs getting added every single update, while event the most basic ones (random sounds) still need fixing. With the game getting more and more complex won't it eventually get very difficult to fix existing bugs without breaking other stuff?

Quite interesting how so many white knights just like to pretend that there is abolutely no reason to complain rather than trying to understand what is wrong. "Alpha, alpha, disclaimer! Nanana! I can't hear you!" Lovely attitude.

I Give up... I really want my money back.

I remember my first lives in DayZ. I was extremly paranoid and run away whenever I've heard a shot or spotted a player. I've observed a couple of naive guys screaming "hello" and running towards strangers only to get shot in the face. I didn't want that, not risking my beans. I used to travel thorough forests (and getting lost) for more cover, loot isolate places and scout every city for a couple of minutes before I'd try to loot it. Never had the issueas you exprienced, I guess that's the advantage of not being stupid.

Unfortunatelly myself and many others would prefer different approach to alpha. Having played the mod for quite some time I'd say that some features are more important than others. For example: give us working loot spawning and ballistics first. Then we have survivors looking for loot and bandits enjoying PvP. Polish it a bit and focus on zombies. Some bugfixes, while the team adds some new locations and items - not too much, we don't want to bring too many bugs. Then you can add features that used to creat the end-game: vehicles and tents in a basic form. When it starts working decently then we have the time for: fancy melee and physics, ragdoll, new zombie types, cooking, hunting, weather and temperature, equipement getting broken, adjusting weapon sway, adjusting spawns, crash sites, more complex medical system and all the other crap that is being shoved down our throats right now. I get it, it's cool and we want to have it in the game... eventually. On top of that we're supposed to be testing all the new features. That's ok, lets test the temperature system, oh wait, bugged loot spawning, bugged zombie kills me and thousand of other bugs that have been reported long time ago but are still in and make testing of new features extremly painfull.

I've been waiting for SA since the day it was announced (october 2012, was it?). Now I'm waiting till it reaches "playable" status. Just ignore the morons that say SA is fine while they've never played the mod. Hopefully it will get finished one day. Untill then I'll check the updates and try to avoid brain dead forum users.

Tbh, the worst thing is the community full of people who never played the mod (I don't count Epoch/Origins cancer as DayZ).

Rain will be the new night?

Personally, I will only play SA seriously when we'll get private hives without alll the bullshit of server hopping etc. When the choice is: playing in the night/rain or not playing at all suddenly people will start looking for light sources and raincoats instead os switching servers.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

I don't see how it could work on a controller. If console users get dumbed down version that won't be DayZ anymore, so why bother? $$$? Anyway, I don't think it will be popular on PS4.

How the end game should look.

I've spent some time in DayZed. It had all kinds of survival aspects added. I must say stamina changed the way I used to play vs zeds. There was no endless running away untill they get lost, so if you get aggro from a zed that spawned around nearby deerstand and there's no place to hide, get ready to fight. On top of that, making decissions like: No bandages left. Should I just move on, hope to find them somewhere or try very risky trip to nearest hospital? More complicated food regen - meat more valuable. Raiding deerstands with a hope of finding hunting knife (quite rare) or at least a piece of raw meat. Avoiding all the zeds that spawn near them while my character could hardly see or hear because of blood loss. And obviously ma favourite part - milking cows and goats ;] Fun times.

How the end game should look.

There used to be some DayZ mods that focused on hardcore survival - they died because of lack of popularity, people complained that they were hard. I expect the same would happen if SA leaned towards hardcore survival experience - people super excited, start playing, "baw, it's hard", empty servers.

    And so it begins...

Played a couple of hrs on exp yesterday. Didn't notice any major changes about loot: Every spot close to the spawn points - empty as fck Buildings/villages in the middle of nowhere, where nobody ever comes - phat loot Gotta admit, tho - weapons were very rare.

What lags less? DayZ Mod or Game?

Mod, especially DayZero. You might get better performance in SA compared to mod server with 1000 spawned zombies and a buttload of vehicles, but on the other hand SA server in such situation would just melt your PC.

    No more Towns

How about we get a big, scary forest where bambis can wander in get lost and never come back because of hunger/thirst or dangerous animals?

Whats your favorite location on the map?

Myshikino-Pustoshka-Green Mountain triangle with the addition of barns west of Zeleno.

    Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion

Yesterday I decided to check out the experimental: Attempt 1. Direct approach. Spawn next to a town, run in. Can't find any loot. Hopper zombie attacks. Raise fists and give him a beating. Nope. Can't aim properly in h2h combat. He keeps jumping through me. Eventually after about 10 hits to the head he dies. I die, before I can bandage. kk Attempt 2. Sneaky. Spawn next to some village. Crouch, stop and try to figure out where to go first. Notice zombie aggro about 200m away from me. Yup, he saw me. Run. Zed decides to persue a nearby deer. Yay. Slowly, crouch walk into town. More zombie aggro out of fucking nowhere. First hit - bleeding. kk respawn Attempt 3. Gimme some wpnz! Spawn next to a city. (Btw what the hell happened to spawning in the middle of a forest? Players too dumb to survive in such situation?) Firestation in front of me. Jackpot! Charge through zeds. Grabbed a crowbar. WTF is wrong with melee!? Can hit shit. Hopper zombie keeps running through walls. Zombies punch me to death while I fcking struggle to figure out what I'm hitting with melee. kk Eh, any hotfixes soon?
