Sorry to say that, but your post will be either moved to rants topic or completly deleted. What I've lerned so far on SA forums: You can praise the game all you want. You can say that it's great, the best etc. You cannot say it's sh*t, because "alpha, disclaimer", you can't say the progress is slow, because "not true!" or similar great argument. You can't say the developers are doing anything wrong, because "you don't know how alpha works". Get ready, you will be bashed by multiple white knights, some of them registered on these forums just a few months ago, but they are experts on SA. They can offend you, insult you, but if you say anything back to them mods will react and hide your posts + give you warning points. If you don't like the game yet, come back in few months. Don't bother arguing why you don't like it - it's pointless. Edit: Lol, disclaimer posted already.

Tent and Drybag Testing - Good News For Persistence *Updated*

Question, slightly offtopic: First picture - mountain W of Zeleno? -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
alsmir replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Nothing magical about it, that's how 3pp works. Can be used by anyone, so it doesn't break the balance. It doesn't bother me. It seems like 1st person players assume that on 3pp servers people spend 95% of their time looking over walls with that method. Oh the horror, sometimes you use it, sometimes somebody uses it against you. Big fukken deal >.> -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
alsmir replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
I've spent last ~20 hrs on 1st person servers, I feel so hardcore now. Was it hard to play? Nope. Was it more hardcore? Haha, nope. Was it different? Just slightly. I must admit, I've realized that 1st person camera is actually quite good for looting places. Loot is scattered all over the buildings and not having your character block some of the view feels good. On the other hand finding loot under beds works better with 3rd person. I've heard how easy you can sneak to someone in 1st person. I've had multiple encounters when those "ninjas" were trying their magnificent sneaking techniques. Turns out, they don't expect you to look over your shoulder, maybe they're not aware that there is free look feature? One time I was running close to the coast and noticed a guy that was following me with an axe. I stopped, still looking over my shoulder. The guy jumps behind a bush. I turned around, shot that bush twice. The guy sprinted towards me, yelled "Hacker!" and bled out seconds later. Many lulz. There were some other ninjas who were not aware that you can easily hear anyone sprinting behind you. Eh, I expected more from hardcore players. Anyway, 3rd person, 1st person, they're pretty much the same. Hardly any difference. -
Defeat your enemies and eat them to aborb their strenght. Should be fine. Not sure if it's needed though. I bump into animals every 5 mins.

I'm old and I suck at it so I play on empty servers.
alsmir replied to Butifnot's topic in General Discussion
It's a good way to learn the game. When you get better you should be able to jump into more populated servers and play just fine. -
Interesting. Recently I've had trouble finding shotgun shells, .357 and the obvious ones: 5.56 and 7.62x39. I was able to grab a bunch of 5.45 without a problem (not a gun for it tho).

I'd argue that the best location would be some isolated place in the forest, where you won't have 10 snipers constantly waiting for you.
-
Tortilla doesn't block as much view if you try to look behind you in first person.
-
We have a bunch of weapons allready but most of them are kinda useless if you want to defend yourself against bandits. Basic sway is really bad, sway after running is just ridicculous. I had to use a mosin against a guy with an axe that started chasing me. That was painfull experience. I get it that after a long sprint my hands might be shaking but wtf is that?

I'd be happy if I can find at least empty mags with guns. Anyway, I managed once to get into Zeleno that wasn't looted. 2 AK mags in Barracks, one drum mag. Maybe they are not that rare, just the server hopping makes SA unplayable.

Google "mil dot range estimation". You're welcome.

Add swamps, forests, fields, mountains, orchards, graveyards, maybe ruins, but can we please limit the amount of new towns? In DayZ mod we had limited number of places where loots spawned. So we had to travel all the time to find new stuff. Now you hit one village - loaded with loot, gg, lets look for some guns. Maybe, just maybe, the zed number will finally increase and entering a big city will become extremly dangerous.

Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
alsmir replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Let's talk about those horrible modifications for DayZ mod a bit. Modding DayZ was bad because it turned it into deathmatch fest, right? I will be talking here about the times when SA hasn't been released yet. Have you ever (in DayZ): - milked a cow or a goat? - had to find a combat knife or can opener to open canned food? - had to stop and rest because your character was out of stamina? - reapaired a radio to track new crashsites? - been afraid to enter NWAF because there were too many zombies? - repaired a car because running with stamina system took too much time? - searched deerstands for meat because canned food was very rare? If you haven't you never bothered to check out the good mods for DayZ, yet you still bitch how modding destroyed the game. Some of the features I mentioned aren't even in SA, yet they were working, over a year ago in "DayZed" mod. PS: Last time I checked DayZed died a while ago. Mostly because it wasn't very popular. All those people begging for hardcore survival just ignored it... -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
alsmir replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
People got the chance to mod Arma 2. This eventually produced DayZ mod and then SA title that already made some nice profit for Bohemia. Anyway, I can't believe how stupid some people are: "I like apples, I don't like oranges. Banning oranges is not enough, we need to force everyone to eat apples!" -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
alsmir replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Outrageous, people that have close to no interst in regular DayZ are having fun in the modded version. Grab the torches and pitchforks! -
Just kind of a "survey/experiment" test if SA early access was released today
alsmir replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I would still think: "Why after all that time we're still so far behind the mod?" -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
alsmir replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Why are people so obsessed to force others to play DayZ in a certain way? I hate Epoch, Origins and all that crap but I can clearly see that those mods are very popular. Sure, it sucks that it's so hard to find a vanilla DayZ server but do you really think that this will change if we prevent people from modding the game? Guys that play on those servers will just move on to another game and DayZ will die. But right now, maybe, just maybe, every now and then some player on those servers will think: "Man, this is too easy." and try the regular mod. There would be no SA if modding wasn't possible or forbidden. -
Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
alsmir replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
I was hoping that the game developement will focus on a bit important issues at first, but appearently they have different plans. Anyway: wait for the beta. There are no intentions to make alpha playable. If you want to participate in testing you can get it now. If you want to play and enjoy it - wait. -
2,3,4 won't happen Welcome to the forums.

Beans for you, op. People will judge you because I believe they have a wrong attitude towards PvP and getting killed. When somebody gets killed it causes frustration. Some can deal with it some can't. They will start blaming everyone and everything. First one to blame is the killer, then game mechanics (too many guns, no punishment for killing etc. etc.) but they never blame themselves and that's the real problem. Why weren't you more carefull? why didn't you look around before entering the city? Why didn't you stick to some cover? It's easier to say: I died because of evil player than admitting that you fcked up and made a stupid mistake.

I'll jump to PvE shards and kill some terribads.

How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?
alsmir replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
Practice, a lot. Not just PvP. Whenever you have some extra spare ammo and a gun go to some isolate place pick some target (three, animal, anything) and start shooting. Get used to recoil, sway (try sprinting for a moment, then trying to aim), iron sights etc. You'll get more confident later when having to defend yourself with a weapon you're familiar with. -
Eating and drinking system - Please, just give it up.
alsmir replied to Ham_Sandwich27's topic in General Discussion
Spawning sucks and that's about it. I'm currently sitting on experimental. Out of 4 spawns I starved once. I spawned in Berezino and it was just empty. Once I bled to death because my rags disappeared, once I got whacked with sledgehammer. Currently It's my 4th life in exp. I was struggling at first but when I moved away from spawn points and easily got loaded with food and drinks. I got back to sprinting everywhere, it drains you calories faster but at healthy status I hardly care. I've got 2 water bottles and a bunch of steaks. Canned food is everywhere and I don't even bother with it. Cows are sitting on the fields just asking to be slaughtered. tl;dr Eating and drinking system is fine, it's the item spawning and persistence that are fcked up. -
If you have limited time to play and protect your stuff you don't make a bloody base in the middle of Cherno and hope it logs out with you. You go deep into the woods, then a bit deeper to the parts than nobody visits and you hide a tent or backpack in there. Sure, it's in the middle of nowhere, far away from any interesting spots, but you got a better chance that not even a random deer will find your crap.
