Since i had the problem yestarday and i managed to solve it with the help of AmberHelios(Thanks mate) and BIs forums i thought to make a guide for anyone else that will face to problem. So for who is this guide for? For People that are willing or trying to install British Armed Forces or Private Military Company retail expansions on Windows 8 64bit with the installer but they get a Runtime Error. What do you need: 1) You need to have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables going from 2005 to 2012 both 64(x64) and 32(x86) bit versions. 2) You need to enable the option in Windows Explorer *Show Hidden Files*. To do that open any Windows Explorer Frame (My Computer, My Documents or what so ever), Click View and Check the *Show Hidden Files* Option. When you have that sorted out run the installer normaly. When you get the Run Time error, close the installer. Notice that if you have the Gamersgate installer check the box that says *Keep the Temporary Files for later use* After that navigate to: C:\users\*YourUsername*\AppData\Local\Temp\BAF Right Click the Setup.exe hit Properties and in Compability tab Check the box that says *Run This Program as an Administrator* Hit Apply and Then Ok. Do the Same for the ReactorActivate.exe that is located in the same folder with the Setup.exe. Follow the same process for PMC. The only thing that changes is the Directory. C:\users\*YourUsername*\AppData\Local\Temp\PMC After you done these run the Setup.exe and you are ready to roll. Reinforcements Pack workaround thanks to FlyingSloth Just download the setup fix from the Arma2 site here (installing RFT as expansion doesn't work from the disc directly), put the discs in and ran the install. I Already contacted bis support but i was wondering if some folk that run on the same problem and solved it or has some ideas can help here quicker. I purchased from gamersgate PMC and BAF (Private Military Company, British Armed Forces) expansions but i get the same error for both of the installations(The error is attached as a screenshot). I tried Reinstalling all the Visual C++ Redistributables ( 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 both x64 and x86 versions) i deleted the left overs from OA installation from Program Data folder, Disable Antivirus, Run as Admin, Compability mode and what so ever i found on the other forums but no luck at all. I think it's a windows 8 thingy but i don't want to go for a downgrade so soon. One more noticable thing is that ACR expansion installer is working just fine on Windows 8 so maybe it's bis that did not update their installer. Anyway..... My (important) system specs are: Windows 8 x64 Pro AMD Phenom x6 1075t 3Ghz ASUS GTX550Ti 1GB GDDR5 Kingstone 2Gb x 4 1600Mhz

New Character models and alot more things. I've played yestarday with the high res textures, i can assure you there is no going back.

Yes sir i did ! And Test it with all possible compability modes except Windows 95 and Me :P I'll tag the Thread as Solved. Finally found the solution. It came from Sprocket and published by FedaykinWolf from BIs forum. Since BIs has not patched the Expansions installers for Windows 8 compability this is the workaround. Make sure you have the x64 and x86 C++ 2005 Redistributable Packages. The rest are explained below. Thanks for your time AmberHelios. Appreciate it man :) Cheers

Do you realise that this is a mod and it's not made by Bohemia ? Why would they give you something for free? It was your choise buying 1 game and 1 expansion in order to play the mod. And apart from that, do you realise that you purchased 2 full games with tons of free mods, maps etc. ? The reason you don't have high res textures at your skins is because Arma II + Operation Arrowhead did not had the so called Survivor skin + Hero + Camo but Rocket choose them so he won't spoil your immersion. Furthermore do you realise that Bohemia already provides you a "Lite" version of all the expansion so you won't have missing weapons and skins ? If Bohemia did not provide the "Lite" version of the expansions FOR FREE we would not have the Survivor, Camo and Hero skin at all. Be glad and respectful. And apart from Rocket and his team, also Bohemia made the standalone become reality with their help and cooperation. Cheers.

This should be a sticky. Great job. I might add that crouching through bushes you might loose some zombies if you get overun and you don't have a weapon.

I recommend balotabuddies.net too. It's a nice community from what i've seen so far. And when you have the time check Arma2 and OA in depth. They are both great games/expansion with lot's of great mods. At the time i gave them a try, It became my main game appart from DayZ Mod.

Have been a Bamby screaming friendly but i always got shot. Lost my "faith in humanity" =>(Nerd? But that's DayZ for me. It's the only game that made me feel "real" emotions in comparison with other games that just get you excited) and i made a personal rule that said; KOS when in town. The previous reaction led me down the path of the retarded-mindless process; Laying in a tree and sniping everyone in town just for the lol's. Some weeks ago i started "heroing" with Bloodbags and Hunting bandits, avoiding unnecessary contact with survivors just because i did not want to trigger confict, don't fire until i'm fired uppon and teaming up with most of the "friendlys saying guys" knowing that i might get killed. You know what? Looking back to all the behaviors and playstyles i had, I had more lol's and joy doing the hero staff,teaming up with strangers and stalking survivors :rolleyes: than i ever had with the bandit attitude. I prefer the game this way than a coldblooded, open world survival COD that the DayZ is turning. Don't get me wrong. Without the bandits the game will be dull and boring. I respect "mature bandits" or "tactical firefighters" in many ways. Thats how i play the game with my team-clan but we are doing it north away from the shore. North were everyone most of the times have the chance to fight back. But I can do without the mindless-spineless sniper who is sitting above cherno or elektro shooting bambys. Excuse my Poor English and the possible fucked up spelling but English is not my native language. I hope you understand what the heck i'm saying. :P
