yeah that like said, should never be implemented. rocket wants players to create in game content. he wants you to go out and create "safe zones" etc. that being said, im sure he wants you to create tournaments yourself too if you please to do so. make a website for dayz tournaments, maybe people bite? doubt it. xD

it would be a cool aspect to the game. nothing game changing honestly but it could be a cool tool. some people would really get into it and actually write up stories. if they are really going to make it possible for players to interact with their ingame characters on the forums then it would be nice to be able to "send to forum" any notes written and compile an actual story on the forums written through the game ;) but i could see a lot of abuse of this. maybe not make it a thread on the forum but a added feat to forum profiles. clicking a person then going to notes and it shows most recent ones? by player choice of course.

these in fact look a lot nicer than the original ones. would be nice if there was more gore in this game. one thing im really hoping for is blood on the floor. imagine getting attacked, your bleeding and leaving blood trails. go into a building to bandage up next thing you know a player traced your trails and well... good night kids... XD anyways cool stuff

skin color and faces are already customizable. as for clothes i agree, doubt when the shit hits the fan we will all be wearing pmc outfits^^

losing zombies (How we gunna do it after they fix indoor pathing?)

well, how would you outrun somebody thats completly gone crazy and is chasing you. you run and throw as much crap in their way as you can to make them trip to buy time. lets look at this from a natural aspect and then a more human aspect lion vs gazelle a lion starts chasing a gazelle, the only way for the gazelle to get away is to run his ass off and hoping the lion gives up or trips or try to fight him off risking its life even more. thats the best way to put it honestly. robber vs cop cop starts chasing a robber, the robber could fight the cop but is more likely to run into backup quickly and usually is less skilled, or he could run. if he runs he could use buildings and close doors behind him. while this would be a temporary hold up for the cop, the cop would not know the robbers actions behind the door, i.e. his further escape route. so it would come down to out running or blocking the path but the blocks should be temporary, i.e. player runs into house, zombie chases him. player slams the door shut and zombie is stuck outside for a few minutes banging on the door. eventually the zombie either opens or breaks the door in and continues his pursuit (unless the player continued his escape and is no longer in the building giving the zombie no trail to chase). maybe have the zombie yell and bang at the door signaling to other zombies "hey theres a dude inside here lets get his ass" in this case the player would have to block off the entire building or make a break for it out the back door. this could lead to really intense last stand type scenarios or to really long chases. -
hey guys, did a search, found nothing about this and it just popped into my head 2 seconds ago while reading another post. so i was thinking, when i raid a military building it would be nice to find MRE's (meal ready to eat). its what we use in the army to keep us going on field missions and im sure some of you fellow soldiers here know what i mean. they dont expire so shelf life is perfect for this mod, they give you enough strength and nutrition to keep you running for at least a day. you should consume about 2-3 a day if you are really working, i.e. running across the entire map and bashing infected heads open. anyways, it would be nice to see this in the game and have them maybe give a player 500 blood? more than beans but less than meat i would say, making them valuable. they should be found around anything military dead soldier bodies crashed helos military buildings quarantine zones (tent city) anyways, thoughts? and if this has been suggested already, i apologize.

this would completely go against the game concept o.0 if you want team death matches do the following make yourself a team find an opposing team to battle agree on a time and server to battle on bash ur heads in crazy? i think not. having that kind of gameplay would not only go against DAYZ concepts but also arma period. but anyways i have another option for you, if you want a zombie survival mode like call of duty has (roflmao) do the following learn scripting for arma, im not kidding its not hard... go into the editor and make a mission that spawns hordes of zombies in waves give the player no weapons or just a pistol and have "buy stations" where they can buy better guns block the level off to only a town? or a building get on a player hosted server and play call of arma? o.0 those are my suggestions, and im being serious too. i honestly dont see any room in this world for those type of game modes, they might be fun but not within the spectrum of this mod OR game...

i'd hope so. it would be nice if they would simply use the huge list of civilian models they already have as survivors rather then the pmc units. also would be nice to be able to change clothes no only for gillie suits.

Super Zombie spawns after a kill, why dont the dead rise?

i see what your getting at, but what would the logic behind it be? why would there be a "boss" zombie once u kill a player? is it suppose to simulate the player rising? why would he rise from a gunshot if a gunshot puts a normal zombie down? how would he get infected from a bulleT? know what i mean? -
Hatchets as a secondary weapon (pistol slot)

+1 def. you should have the option to put your weapon on your back. it shouldn't disappear from your inventroy, it should remain in the main slot. now with your hands free you should be able to select sidearm, flashlight, hatchet, and i would love to see the hunting knife as a option as well, but make it really hard to kill a zed with it. 2-4 stabs maybe. this way you maintain all your gear while still being able to use it all. -

the first part, i totally agree. being able to find "unneeded" items on player and zed bodies would be really cool. like he said, coming across a zed that is carrying a watch, a can of beans and a note from his daughter would give you that "damn..." effect every now and then. also if players could pickup a notepad/book in which they can write their experiences (MSO has something like this). when they get killed another player can pick it up and read it. so for example a player could shoot another player and read about him. imagine how harmful this could be if a player was to write about a camp he created, now the killer has intel on a location he needs to raid. as for the "more zombie" part, i believe rocket was trying to make them sort of like i am legend "zombies" but not quite. they arent really tore up in that movie, just lost pigmentation in their skin and slightly mutated but no flesh ripped out and blood dripping and dropping. from what i gather, the zombies in dayz are smarter than we expect them to be. they might wander around aimlessly at times but they are emotionless killing machines and their only thought is kill. might not be a bad idea, but i think if there would be more variety of the current ones, that would do it for me :) -
hey guys, im trying to figure out what the animations for the zombies are called. im talking about playmove and switchmove. also another thing, i noticed they cant do all the moves regular units can, they use a different skeleton i take it. any way to fix this or will there be a fix in the future? thanks guys.

they still have to have a name and should still be able to be executed via 'switchmove' or 'playmove'. this is the arma2 move list and since they are custom the dayz ones are not in there, i need these but for dayz http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA2:_Moves

Case for Clothing System (and supplemental add ons)

well actually, it wouldnt take much to script this. i've been scripting for arma for a few years now. you could have it so it uses time. i.e. player spends 3 hours in game without "washing clothing" then it adds the "smell" effect. now zombies are more atracted to him and animals run when he gets close. player washes his clothing that effect goes away. not much too it honestly. now we can get into details on that, player spends 1 hour in the prone position, his clothes get dirty as hell. so if we are using the same time, we could have the minutes doubled for crouched and tripelled for prone movement. 3 hours of game play needed for dirty clothing crouched is double time, so only 1.5 hours crouched and ur stuff is dirty prone is triple time, so only 1 hour and your stuff needs a wash so, that being said, you move in the prone a lot your shit gets dirty quicker and might need a wash. this is not even really over the top, its easily do-able even without implementing any new units or addons, all script. besides that, believe it or not this would be a aspect of survival. wear and tear could operate on a similar system using time. player wears the same clothing for x time, it starts to rip up. when it gets to a certain point the player starts loosing inventory slots simulating that your pocket ripped off. can be fixed with sewing kits and with cloth pieces. simple stuff would add another aspect to the game. as far as the overheating goes, dehydration is a big thing. lets say you are wearing a jacket and you are dehydrated, the sun is blazing, yeah you might pass out. im in the army and when it gets too hot outside i force my soldiers to hydrate and sometimes take gear off. so again, realistic and can be done easily. for the rain they could make ponchos that a player can throw on to defelct the rain, preventing cool down and becoming ill. player is ill, he caughs alerting zeds and making animals run yada yada. anyways, all do-able with mainly script, except adding clothing, that requires new unit models. -

i also like the clothing idea. what i suggested on dev heavon. if u wear ur clothes for a while they turn dirty and the smell attracts zeds and wild animals make a run from you. you should be able to wash them at ponds and wells to get the smell out. it should take hours to get then dirty though. also make a larger variety of clothing. i doubt we all would be wearing the same clothes durig an outbreak. also wear and tear like u said. for example. u could loose 2 slots of inventory if your cargo pockets rip off. but add sewing kits to fix partially shredded clothes. this whole would force the player to keep his clothing semi clean and wearable. just my 2 cents -

kind of a bump here. production is going really well and is getting quite costly^^ but imo worth it. always was a dream of mine to make a legit arma movie or series and its coming together beyond my expectations. episode 1 is about 60% done and the team is working on a few things to keep you guys on your toes. I hope to release some more teasers and sneaks in a short while. on a side note, the story is written and is going through some last editors changes but should be solid. it will be 5 episodes with each at about 8-15 minutes, give or take and it will cover the first 24 hours of the outbreak, thats all im going to tell you guys for now ;) stay tuned.

some of you guys must be new to arma *Condescending Wonka* if you guys look at some of the maps already released for arma you would see what the community is capable of. i will eat a broom and shit brixx if there is nobody working on a map already. i would actually put my paycheck on that. but it's do-able and i have seen single people make some of the most amazing maps for arma. not saying rocket should, just wait a bit and zombie maps will be around in no time^^

Is there a way to film Day Z without the UI?

there is a built in script in arma that runs a camera. you can only use it in editor or on a server where custom files are allowed. this exec "camera.sqs" -
making major progress. the intro video is done and voice overs will be in within a day or 2. things are coming together faster than expected.

i have an update for you guys. i just received word from a voice actor in Moscow. things are coming together great and are running really smooth. i also possibly have a music/sound producer that is interested in helping. hoping for a original soundtrack for the series ;)

yeah i finished the video up at like 2-3 in the morning so i missed the typo lol. also the voice over was like the 3rd take, i did it and kinda ran with it. shouldve put more time into that^^ all good though, 2500 views in 1 day, ill take it. thanks guys. busting my ass for the series ;)
