im also for this, first off, my beans to you for knowing about more than just dayz. second off, i love the ace weight/stamina system as much as i hate it. i love the wounding/medical system as well. it makes things so much more real. feeling the pain of the weight while your players heartbeat gets louder can be pretty scary in a hairy situation. it would add to the feel of the game. most importantly the zeds would impose a bigger threat since running away is no longer a routine action. on that note, i think zeds should have stamina systems as well, but better than survivors. -
everything you guys said has been done before... what we need are zomcrabs and zomfish... they could be at the beach when you first spawn in and nibble at your boot causing the player to laugh his ass off, which in fact would cause zeds to hear the player and aggro at them. im btw totally serial here! not really... no... this is one of the best features in dayz, no zombie level 14, no boomer, no witch, no bullshit. why would a fat dude react to a virus differently than everybody else and become a boomer? you wanna know why? ill tell you why! for fun and sales! and sorry to break it to some of you guys, this game was not designed for fun neither was it for sales, it was designed for pissing you off and making you quit.

em... no! it would be exploited too much and make no sense in the end. for one people would not act like zeds at all making it unreal from the other end. people would hop on TS one dude play as a zombie and check out the loot spots for the best weapons (without risk) then tell his buddies where to go and escort them to the spot... wheres the fun in that. this is by far one of the worst ideas posted, it would ruin the game play in so many ways. so yeah... n o

Semi-permanent Residence, (un)-safe housing

i always liked the idea of building my own place within a town of other player owned homes so just for that you have my beans. it can be done, even right now, to a certain extent but would require some new objects/models for the buildings. it would be pretty cool going into the forest and chopping wood then stacking it up for a small building. imagine a house needing something between 50-100 wood piles + scrap metal for the door maybe and some nails (should be able to nail down stuff using the backside of the hatchet, so no need for a hammer)? once you have a house you could add chests (storage units) and add up to 2 or 3 to 1 house. each chest should be able to hold as much as 1 or 3/4 of a tent making them worth while. obviously as stated, it shouldnt be 100% safe, just safer. the house could shelter from cold weather, wild animals and zeds (but zeds eventually break it). seeing how tents are already in the game this would actually not kill the balance of the game that much because it would be nothing but a bigger tent with some added safety features. people should be able to light it on fire though (jerry can + matches) and burn everything inside. why? nothing should be permanent! lol and yes it should deteriorate after a few days. maintenance is a must and should take a while. a player should be able to look at the house and scroll to "maintain house" and then a animation should start lasting 10 minutes or so. EVERYTHING about a house should be hard, annoying and at the same time rewarding. i.e. collecting sooooo much wood would piss me off, but having a house, worth it. somebody burns it to the ground... rebuild. great idea, great potential, hope to see it sometime. -
no infected but think of the target u make urself. in the woods with a loud car alarm and flashing headlights. target practice activate. ye crowbar should be stealthier but banging against a lock with a crowbar is still rather noisy lol

pretty good mate, good to see some more people with some decent skills and knowledge working on videos. im working on a series right now called "i am a survivor". 5 part mini series with (paid for) voice actors, sound studios, visual effect studios etc. pretty big project. one thing i suggest is keep your shots shorter, the longer the same shot is presented the more "boring" it gets to the human eye, quicker shots keep your eyes attracted to a video ;) other than that, good luck with your project, looking forward to seeing more from you

just wait until they start spawning in 2000 helicopters on a server just to take the server down. good old arma 1 days... EDIT: and no, leave it as is. people would exploit this to the end of the game. 1 thing many people should learn about this game is, you either live, or you fucking die. -
yes good idea. for the people dcing to move into a locked building, i hope your computer explodes and you can never play again. anyways, yes, i doubt during a zombie apocalypse people would be like, "WAIT HONEY I GOTTA UNLOCK ALL THE DOORS BEFORE WE RUN AWAY"... so yeah it would be cool to come up on a building and standing in front of a locked door. maybe even have lock picks in the game later that would take a while to use and be really rare. as for people locking buildings randomly, oh well? shit happens and this would actually be really cool, and honestly a better solution for the random barber wire tank trap door that has 45 different barricades on it. what they should do is have it make noise as well if you "break" it open with a crowbar. that would cause the player to think, do i wanna risk attracting a few zeds just to see whats inside this apartment? it would be a really cool addition imo, simply for the realism aspect, but yeah they gotta fix the zeds going through doors and stuff first... as for cars, yes and no. you should be able to lock your car BUT a player should be able to jam his crowbar in the door and bust it open or simply breaking the glass, at which point and time (i know chernarus has old shitty cars but w.e.) the car alarm should go off and before a player can drive away he should have to hot wire the car. sooooooo scenarios survivor A fixes up a car, saves it at a "safe spot", locks it and goes offline survivor B finds this car, smashes in the window, alarm goes off he jumps in and starts hot wiring, zeds nearby hear the alarm, and the alarm brings all the zeds to the yard... survivor B is surrounded by zeds smashing the car up to get inside while he tries to hot wire zeds proceed to eat him out of the car because he failed to hot wire what they can implement is a interface for locks and also hot wires. there is a script for a bomb, it has a timer and 4 wires, you actually have to cut the right wire in order to disarm the bomb. its a really nice script for arma and works perfectly. they could make this as well to where you have to connect a few wires on your screen. this could be random for every car adding challenge to it. to make it even worse make it maybe 5 wires that have to be in the right order for it to start. for the locks they could also use a interface to pick it. here are 2 scripts, 1 is from arma 1 but works in arma 2 for cutting the wire, the other is for a keypad bomb, just to show you guys its possible. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=4761&highlight=BOMB%2BWIRE http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=15032&highlight=BOMB%2BSCRIPT

in the mean time on chernarus. "breaking news, the power system in chernarus is completly broken. once upon of time it worked but appeared to produce a weird ugly cone looking light underneath the streetlights making it look weird. the arma 2 dev team then decided to take the lights out of chernarus to work on it some later time. as of right now only 1 light survived, a small coke machine in the international hotel in chernagorsk is still lit. will it stay this way?" had to, anyways, you get my point. the dev team took the lights out a while back (for you non arma players) because, from what i was reading, it looked too weird. eventually it was suppose to get fixed but... im sure they had better things to worry about. this being said, yes great idea, only issue there is no power on chernarus period. every light source would have to be created through a script, which is do-able, but i believe it would eat the server like my last can of beans. might be wrong on the last part but its possible to throw a few lights in. not possible to power the whole map unless they re-enable it. there are a few scripts that actually put 1 light in every enterable house at little to no server resources, its pretty awesome because it has different color lights and different styles. for example it might create a solid white light, or a flickering orange light. it looks pretty good though, would be nice to have.

u guys think its weird that we can all feel rockets vision coming together piece by piece and for some reason the majority of the community knows what the result will look like? i think its strange how connected i personally feel to rockets vision, as if i thought of it myself from time to time and he beat me to the punch. i agree, and yes that was also the suggestion, rocket do your thing man!

good idea. have it marked locally and make it possible for a buddy to copy ur map. believe ace mod has this feat.

i've thought about that fact, the bells, and honestly i dont mind that slight inconsistency. i like the bells as they add to the feel of the game, they are just scary for some reason at times and i like it. lets just say a zombie priest is SOOOO dedicated that he stayed there even after turning into a mindless crazy that he keepsem ringin^^

while there are so many amazing ones, recently checked out taviana, OMG is all i gotta say, i think a custom one would be the best. but i could imagine the horror of running through taviana. going to the mall or the underground train station and running into other players and zeds. that shit would be insane! or going up the mountain and tracking through snow. that map would truly be amazing.

i get your point but it's a bad idea. if people would have to play arma before they can play dayz we would loose a lot of people. which isn't a bad thing because we would be loosing the unwanted anyways, but sadly it would also be counter productive for the support of the game. as much as i hate people that are just here for dayz (yeah im a arma hipster and played it before it was cool xD) i appreciate the boost the community received, for the better or worse. -
would be too much on servers and cause major fps drops due to an entire firefight in another location. it can be pulled off. but be ready for lag increases.

the lights on chernarus are broken. they had an issue with light cones coming from street lights that looked stupid. the disabled it. this would mean the lights would have to be scripted in. sounds like a lot of work IF it wasnt for a already finished and working script that creates a light source in every enterable building at nearly 0 fps drop. but yeeeeah fixing 1 building or the power plant no. generator power yes

thing is. if u ever messed with a set of nods u would know they are rather durable. batteries would be first to go. 7bravos (nods they have in game) take AA batteries while the flashlight should take D batteries. weapons dont just break, especially ak's. jam yes and u should need a weapkns cleaning kit to clean ur rifle. that way u still ned to go downtown to get cleaning gear. ;)
