For the good of the game: everything needs to breakdown!
Ophidion replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There's only 3 different things to think about with stuff like this. Balance > Realism Fun =/= Realism? Can Fun = Balanced? -
It would be nice if there were two separate sides...
Ophidion replied to DirtySurvivor's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Eventually there will no longer be bandits, therefore no longer be any PvP.... Bandits can't live forever, and seeing how you can only become a bandit by killing another survivor there's no way to BECOME a bandit. Then, when all the bandits are dead or missing, the suvivors will no longer be able to kill eachother because PvP with survivors would have been off. -

I like it. Fill it with a box or 2 of the things you would find in a hospital, only on the road. -
Exactly. Pretty much, if you open the mirror, hug a corner. You can see what's around the corner without actually having your head pop out and less chance of being seen by someone. It utilizes the "Q" "E" tilt a lot more especially in cities. It can tell you how many zombies are in the room if you hug the wall, also if they're players in there. Hell, if can show if there's a sniper on the roof. It is to improve a stealth aspect. When prone, using the mirror is a great way without slowly having to peak around the corner, or as dangerous as rolling out.

Good idea. For the balance, make them more rare. But have them replenish both hunger and thirst, but take only 1 slot.

You guys clearly have never made a game before. Balance > Realism Realism =/= Fun The reason we HAVE these alternatives to eating, is that players are SUPPOSED to decide how to treat their time. Whether to grab food, drinks, ammo, weapons. Your shitty "alternative" is a double negative. The cons: - You reduce the need for the actual loot spots for food. Just go out, and kill a player and eat him. - If no one USES the feature, because the players are too hard to find and it's not worth it, it just wastes time as a useless feature. - You're encourging MORE PvP (Which we really don't need). - Food is instantly less valuable, and hunting becomes more and more redundant. - If you actually suck that much for the feature to be useful, you need to spend time getting your priorities straight on how to search for items. - You essentially remove dying from starvation as a huge issue. We WANT it as an issue, it's what makes it fun. - It CAN get banned in places if it is on a standalone game. - It's controversial as hell. Here are some of the "pros" - Yes, it serves as a seemingly useless alternative, but an alteranative none the less. That's all I can think of. All the pros of this idea are terrible, and so little to no purpose. It actually ruins the game for people, because you claim that you kill sooo many people. It'll just encourage players to player hunt more, we want LESS PvP, and more teamwork with strangers.

Yeeeahh, working system doesn't mean effective. It could be in theory, but in reality it just isn't that simple to create an effective anti-cheat system.

Oh look out, we have a badass out here who likes eating bodies instead of the goddamn food the people just killed had in their packs. And I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you lived in an infected fictional game where you can kill and eat people. So this dumbshit who explains that human bodies are not only a great way to remove hunger, they're so common that they are the best option! Wow, if you think to actually eat the body instead of looking inside of the pack the person was carrying, you clearly are an idiot. If you (supposedly) kill so many people, you would have to be a fucking dumbass to realize that ONE of them has to have food in their pack. @moofactory: A. That's a movie. B. Doesn't matter if it's based off of real life, you're not one of them. C. They didn't have viable alternatives for food unlike in DayZ.

I've heard it's actually possible. But highly unrecommended. Also, wrong section.

OCR tech isn't used with any anti-cheat for a reason. It's simply not a viable options. A master server to run an anti-cheat screenshot system? What in the hell? You're better off having spies go into the server and follow players for any hacks.

Okay, you talk like a 8 year old mental degenerate so I'll break it down nice and easy for you to understand. Nobody is going to eat a fucking person to stop Hunger. We have hunting for a reason, hell taking the produce from the fields in the towns is a much better option. It's very far and few to actually find a player let alone consume the goddamn body. You're better off going to the nearest town and getting food. Got it? The game is supposed to take a realistic turn, and consuming narcotic flesh from a zombie doesn't work. And a human is simply too rare to have any real value. Besides, even then, the player you just killed, most likely has food on him. You clearly no nothing about survival if your first option for getting rid of hunger is to eat a Goddamn person you dunce.

Sure, if you want the game to absolutely shit itself trying to run several instances of a trillion flaming bullets. The engine simply can't support this kind of stuff yet, the game is still in alpha and Arma 3 isn't out.
-
If it has no value, why in the actual fuck would I eat a human instead of reaching into my pack for food. There ARE no infected humans in this game. There are humans, and zombies. An infected human is someone who carries a dormant or virulent virus but isn't a zombie. We don't HAVE any of those. Therefore, there is no cannabalism because zombies aren't humans.
-
thorgold is actually correct. And for the love of God, stop saying "U MAD BRO" or anything of the such. It makes you look like a prattling 12 year old. Anyways, if games such as The Army Of 2 can get banned, he's right. A standalone version of the game can easily get banned. Guess what, Fallout 3, banned in Australia for a multitude of reasons. One of them being, you guessed it, cannabalism. You could select a perk, to crouch down and consume a human, the same goes for F:NV. A human, regardless of it's physical stature, is a human and consuming another human is fucked to hell and I'm pretty sure that if you had "0" choice I doubt any of you would eat an actual human. Think about it, you say it because you want to prove a point but in reality you wouldn't go near a goddamn corpse let alone ingest it's flesh. Adding it is a terrible idea. It's even expressed that there's controversy whether it even provides any real health value compared to risks. Cannabalism is only refered to as a species consuming another organism of the same species. So no, zombies are not alive, they are no longer a human meaning it is not cannabalism because it is a different organism. They aren't "people" they lost cognitive functions and ability to reason like a normal human, their body is considered dead.

You've clearly never fired, and/or maintained/fixed a gun before. Give a gun to someone, 95% says they don't know how to turn the safety off. And if you ask them what it fires, they'll say a bullet. If you ask what type, they'll ask, "There's more than one type?." A lot of the time, people just assume it's pointing and aiming. While knowing the proper way the mechanics of the gun function, it's also important to know how the bullet works. People don't account in that the bullet fired will hit the ground pretty much as the same time if you were to drop a bullet at the same height. Wind after long distances isn't accounted for for sniping. It's not common knowledge to maintain a gun. It has to be taken care of after use, oiled, taken apart, stored correctly. An M1911 that's been sitting in the dirt for a long ass time isn't going to be as effective as an AK-47 who's chambers are so thick you can fire it after dunking it under sand and water. Although, I do agree with you in that crafting (let alone using) bows is in fact an art. It is very difficult, and it takes percision of the finest quality, something that the game just can't support properly. In reality, this game wouldn't just have shoot and reload. It would have conditions that would have to be maintained, almost like a Fallout feel. The game is in alpha, and a lot of things that would make sense to have are sadly just not supported by the game's engine. Wait until further developtment, or until Arma 3 is out.

I have no sympathy for server hoppers, hackers, crakers, laggers, or bad Admins. -
Alienware is the biggest pile of shit ever.

Get a bigger backpack. There's no need for this, it's very unbalanced in that you are in turn just adding several slots to an existing backpack in a different form. It's part of the game to decide whether it's worth it to carry an extra long ranged weapon in your backpack, or several cans of food and meds.

There's ONE thing you always think about when making suggestions like this. Balance > Realism. Is fun = or =/= to balance. So, Balance = Fun? If it sounds good, Balance > Realism. The game would be trash if zombies couldn't climb and do all that stuff.
