    m4 is really inaccurate.

Get a bipod, go prone, and you'll be as accurate as you were in Arma2. I've never fired an M4 before, but I own a Remington 700 in 0.308 caliber, and I've fired various 0.223 rifles before (scopes and iron sights). Now, I'm not the best shot in the world, but I can quite easily hit something at 300m with a scope. Shooting at a man sized figure at 300m with an iron sight however is a different story. 300m is quite a long way, and I don't think I'd be able to shoot something at 300m whilst standing, without a scope, and being out of breath etc... At the very least, not with every single bullet!
  2. Lol. I love it when zombies suddenly remember how to talk after you slap them and say that.
  3. Hmm, If I'm "out gunned" I try to avoid a fight. Like if I see someone that has a rifle, and they haven't seen me, I'll just steer clear of them to avoid being killed. Chances are they're probably going to kill me if they see me. I guess what I'm trying to say is if some guy starts punching you, you may as well raise your fists and punch him back. Most people just seem to keep running though...
  4. Same thing happened to me and after I took some morphine it went away.
  5. What I don't get is how some people just don't fight back while you're beating the snot out of them. I don't know about you guys, but if someone tries to attack me I don't hesitate to fight back... trying to just run away only gets you killed. Plus if you're running away saying things like "leave me alone, you suck, i hate you" it only fuels my killing rage with your delicious tears.
  6. Hey Rocket, Just wanted to thank you guys for releasing the game early (most likely earlier than you wanted to!) so that we could all mess around and have some fun. I think you and your team have done a fantastic job so far, and will continue to do a great job. Don't think your efforts go un-noticed! I respect the fact that you are straight up and tell it how it is as well. IMHO I think you're probably going to cop a lot more hate than usual purely because the game is on Steam. A much wider audience has now been exposed, and a lot of them couldn't care less for the effort you've been putting in for so long. They have that "I paid for this and i shouldn't have to deal with bugs / deserve better" mentality (which sucks...). I doubt any of them read the warning not to purchase the game if they don't want an unfinished product... Edit: #1 DayZ rule: Never get attached to your gear! Anyways sorry for waffling on, Xiroth.

    TEXT SYSTEM V.S. ICON SYSTEM

I kind of like the new text based system...
  8. I would like to open my can of beans by smashing it on the skulls of my enemies. They should have a low chance to open when you're fist fighting someone whilst holding it in your hands. I beat a guy to death while holding a pen, and all I could think of was that scene in Rock'n Rolla where Johnny Quid kills the bouncer with a pencil... good times!

    Rule #2 Double Tap

You sure can! I got into a fist fight with some guy and when he fell to the ground I repeatedly punched him in the head till he died.
  10. You raise some valid points... Maybe they've done it to force combat to be at closer ranges? Not sure sorry...
  11. You're probably using a damaged / broken sight / scope. I'm guessing the stock / grip would affect the recoil etc too. I think being inaccurate is fine if you're not using a completely pristine weapon. If you are, well then I guess you could assume that the survivors themselves are untrained civilians and wouldn't know how to shoot properly...

    DayZ 1.8 Feedback

The old bike is apparently as loud as a helicopter to zombies ears, but quieter than an M9SD for players. Is it possible to reduce the noise level on the bikes to coincide with their actual sound?

    DayZ Mod 1.8 Update

Is it just me, or do Zombies seem to be relentless now? Seems like you can attract massive hordes of them! I'm not complaining, makes you think twice about shooting someone knowing that you're going to have to leg it straight after.

    Processor cache size and Dayz

My 2c, for what its worth: If you are wanting a pure gaming rig I'd strongly suggest an absolute minimum of 4 cores. Most games these days will use 1-2 cores, and if you have a dual core your OS will be hogging a lot of processing power. Windows will try to balance programs & processes out between all available cores... Ill try to explain in an analogy: Imagine you have 2 glasses that can hold 1L of water each (big glasses I know). You have 1L of water to distribute evenly, so naturally you have 500ml in each glass. Now lets say you have 10 glasses. Each glass now only has 100ml in it, and room for another 900ml of whatever you want to put in there. See what I'm getting at? Also you can set program affinity, and tell a game that it is allowed to exclusively use cores 3&4 for example. Windows will then try to balance proecesses in cores 1&2 rather than all 4, hence improving performance. Hope this helps!

    Bonfire, buying bases and 'rules'

What the hell is wrong with you people? You aren't buying the gear, you are receiving a gift for making a donation... Furthermore, its simply an incentive to donate and keep the server going strong. I've played on this server a few times now and not once has it been nuked, nor have a come across a godmode hacker. The anti-hack protection on the server seems pretty good and detects and bans people pretty fast. To the server owner: Please ignore these idiots. Your server is well run, is not laggy, actually has a day/night cycle and the player base seems pretty good.
  16. I survived a god mode teleporting hacker 2 days ago. He spawned on top of me with an AS50 and fired a shot but missed because I think his barrel was actually sticking through my body. My screen went white like when bullets land near you so I stood up and turned around and he was right in my face so I moved a bit and shot him 5 times in the face with my DMR, and when he didn't drop I started running around him in circles laughing at him over direct chat and he was spinning around trying to shoot me but missed every shot because he sucked so bad. Then when I heard him reloading I alt+f4'd. Sucker

    US 174 NWAF Sniper

I find it somewhat ironic that you are calling snipers faggots yet you are carrying a DMR.

92 Dayz... and Died... To a

I know that feel bro... Once I was driving a car with 2 friends and I went to type "lol" but didn't hit slash so when I hit enter I ejected, instantly dying because i was scrolling my mouse wheel for some unknown reason. Seemed like a good idea at the time. The car then smashed into a nearby power pole and exploded, killing my friends.

    Decision Making

Most private hives have custom skins for bandits so you can tell from a distance if a player is going to be hostile, so you can hide / avoid them.

    Decision Making

I pretty much agree with everything Zarniwoop said. Once you learn the game, figure out that its pretty easy to avoid zombies, and if you do get them chasing you its easy to lose them around buildings and in bushes, you wont feel any kind of threat or excitement and get bored. I don't even waste bullets on zombies any more unless I absolutely have to. I save all mine for players. Its the bandits that make this game fun. Like the paranoia you get when running through an open field or when climbing up a ladder, always watching behind you thinking someone is following you. And on the other hand its a great rush when you are hunting someone down... My advice to you is if you do start playing, trust absolutely no one. If someone says they are friendly and unarmed, sneakily check their pack to see if they are stashing a gun. When with someone else, always let them go up front and don't hesitate to kill them if need be. I only team up with RL mates, never strangers.
  21. It always makes me chuckle when I see players that haven't changed their name or don't know how to. For example: "Robinson family was killed"
  22. More often than not murder/killing comes after wait, watch, observe. I simply wait for the best time to strike, and intend to kill everyone I see that isn't a friend of mine.
  23. On a side note, sometimes I've managed to spot someone trying to follow me discretely so I continue on as though I haven't seen them, and lure them into ambush. That's always fun
  24. First instinctive reaction? Determine whether or not they've seen me or are aware of my presence.

    Dayz: Your Code of Conduct

    1. Find a weapon 2. Figure out where my friends are and move in their general direction. 3. Kill anyone I come across that aren't my friends because they almost certainly have something useful, even unarmed players... They make good target practice anyways. 4. Find a vehicle 5. Use the vehicle to find more vehicles 6. Stash a backup vehicle and go around killing players.
